Combining natural beauty with essential amenities and access to nearby recreational opportunities, Pleasant Valley Campground appears to be an excellent choice for both experienced campers and those seeking a restful outdoor experience.
A Beautiful and Restful Environment in the Northern Poconos
Reviewers consistently describe Pleasant Valley Campground as "very beautiful and restful" and "really peaceful." Situated in a picturesque area of the Northern Poconos, the campground offers a serene environment ideal for relaxation and unwinding amidst nature. One visitor specifically mentioned being able to "pick out the Site we wanted under the trees," indicating a degree of choice and the presence of shaded campsites. The overall ambiance is described as "quiet and peaceful," making it a welcome retreat from the noise and bustle of everyday life. For local users prioritizing tranquility and natural beauty in their camping experience, Pleasant Valley Campground seems to deliver on both fronts.
The campground's setting in the Northern Poconos also provides access to the region's inherent natural attractions. One reviewer noted that the area boasts "plenty of fishing & river recreation opportunities nearby!" This suggests that visitors can enjoy activities such as fishing, kayaking, canoeing, or simply relaxing by the water. Furthermore, the campground is conveniently located just a few minutes away from the Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River, a renowned area for its natural beauty and outdoor pursuits. This proximity expands the recreational options available to campers at Pleasant Valley Campground.
Well-Maintained Grounds and Grassy Campsites
The campground is described as "well-maintained," indicating that the owner takes pride in keeping the grounds in good condition. The campsites primarily consist of "grassy clearings," which can offer a comfortable and pleasant surface for tents and outdoor living. The availability of several sites to choose from, as mentioned by one reviewer, suggests that even short-term visitors may have options in selecting their preferred camping spot.
Most campsites at Pleasant Valley Campground include a "rock campfire ring & a table," providing essential elements for cooking and outdoor dining. However, it's important to note that "some do not," so visitors are advised to plan accordingly and perhaps bring a portable table if needed. This detail highlights the importance of being prepared and potentially confirming site amenities when making a reservation.
Essential Amenities: Restrooms and Hot Shower
Pleasant Valley Campground offers essential amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. Restrooms are available and reported to be "clean," which is a significant factor for camper comfort and hygiene. Additionally, at least one shower with hot water is provided. It's worth noting that the shower operates on a coin system, costing 25 cents for 5 minutes and only accepting quarters. Visitors should come prepared with the necessary change if they plan to use the hot shower facility.
Electric Hookups and Site Variety
For RV and trailer owners searching for "camping near me" with necessary hookups, Pleasant Valley Campground offers "electric hookups...readily available for trailers." This is a crucial amenity for those traveling with recreational vehicles and needing a power source. The campground also caters to tent campers, with "ideal tent sites...found toward the back of the grounds & beside the creek." This suggests a thoughtful layout that separates different types of campers and offers varying environments within the campground, with quieter, more secluded tent sites potentially available near the creek.
Affordable Camping Option
Pleasant Valley Campground is also noted for its affordability. One reviewer mentioned paying "$25 dollars (cash only) for 1 night with a tent." This price point, particularly for a peaceful and well-maintained campground in a beautiful location, makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious local campers. The mention of "cash only" is an important detail for payment preparation.
Friendly and Helpful Owner
The owner, Brian, receives high praise in the reviews. He is described as "so nice and helpful" and "very friendly & grateful I came." This personal touch and welcoming attitude can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, making guests feel valued and well-cared for.
Mix of Seasonal and Short-Term Visitors
The campground primarily caters to "annual weekenders with stationed camping trailers/RVs." This indicates a strong base of regular, seasonal visitors who have made Pleasant Valley Campground their recurring getaway. However, there are also "a few additional sites designated for short term visitors," ensuring that those looking for shorter stays or weekend trips can also be accommodated. This blend of long-term and short-term guests can contribute to a friendly and community-oriented atmosphere.
Limited Cell Phone Service and Nearby Conveniences
An important consideration for visitors is the likely absence of cell phone service at the campground itself. However, nearby services are available, including the Equinunk General Store and the convenience store at Rileyville Corners. This means that while you might be able to disconnect from the digital world while at the campground, essential supplies and communication options are not too far away.
Ideal for Experienced Camping Enthusiasts and Outdoorsmen
Based on the overall description and the natural surroundings, one reviewer suggests that "For experienced camping enthusiasts/outdoorsmen, the Pleasant Valley Campground is likely to be an enjoyable experience!" This implies that the campground offers a genuine outdoor experience that appeals to those who appreciate a quieter, more nature-focused camping trip, especially given the proximity to river recreation and the Upper Delaware River.

Jul 06, 2024 · Vero YorkieReally peaceful & well-maintained campground. I absolutely loved how quiet my stay was; it was more enjoyable than many State Parks I've visited! It was also affordable costing me $25 dollars (cash only) for 1 night with a tent. Brian, the owner, was very friendly & grateful I came. There were several sites available that I could choose from. Campsites here primarily consist of grassy clearings. Most sites include a rock campfire ring & a table, but some do not, so visitors should plan accordingly. Most visitors to this campground are annual weekenders with stationed camping trailers/RVs. However, there are a few additional sites designated for short term visitors. Electric hookups are readily available for trailers while ideal tent sites will be found toward the back of the grounds & beside the creek. Restrooms, & at least one shower (with hot water), are also available & were clean. The shower costs 25 cents per 5 mins & only accepts quarters. This campground is located in an absolutely beautiful area of the Northern Poconos with plenty of fishing & river recreation opportunities nearby! The Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River is also just a few minutes away! Cell phone service will likely be non-existent, but nearby services include the Equinunk General Store & the convenient store at Rileyville Corners.
