Soaring Eagle Camp Ground Introduce
Nestled along the picturesque Upper Delaware River in Equinunk, Pennsylvania, Soaring Eagle Camp Ground offers a unique riverside camping experience. Located at 4092 River Rd, Equinunk, PA 18417, USA, this campground caters primarily to RV campers but also welcomes tent campers, particularly kayakers traveling down the river. For local users searching for "camping near me" who are drawn to riverfront settings and water-based activities, Soaring Eagle Camp Ground presents a beautiful, albeit with some specific considerations, option for a getaway.
The Environment: Stunning Riverfront Scenery
The location of Soaring Eagle Camp Ground is consistently described as "ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!" Situated directly on the Upper Delaware River, the campground offers stunning waterfront views and a serene natural environment. The river itself is a significant feature, providing a dynamic backdrop to the camping experience. The surrounding area likely boasts the natural beauty characteristic of the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River region, known for its wooded hillsides and diverse wildlife.
While the beauty of the river is undeniable, access to it requires caution. One reviewer notes that it is "Hard walking on the assorted size ROCKS to get down to the water" and advises wearing shoes. Additionally, the rocks under the water might be slippery, posing a potential hazard. This suggests that while the river is a major draw, getting to the water's edge requires careful footing.
Regarding swimming, one reviewer explicitly states that the "Water is too dangerous to swim in" due to the strong current and the absence of lifeguards, emphasizing that this is a "Private beach." This is a crucial piece of information for potential campers, especially families with children, who might be expecting to swim. While the river is accessible, it appears that swimming is not recommended or safe at this location.
Despite the limitations on swimming, the river is a significant attraction for other activities. Kayakers traveling down the Upper Delaware frequently stop at Soaring Eagle Camp Ground to camp or tent, indicating its suitability as a base for river expeditions. The presence of these river travelers highlights the campground's direct access to this scenic waterway.
Fishing is also mentioned as a potential activity, with a reviewer noting that "Fishing must be good bc someone caught a Trout when we were there" and even providing a picture as evidence. This suggests that the Upper Delaware River near the campground offers opportunities for anglers to try their luck.
The overall atmosphere of the campground is described as "quiet" and "peaceful," with one visitor noting only around 10 families present during their stay. This low density of campers can be a significant draw for those seeking a more tranquil and less crowded camping experience.
Services and Features: Basic Amenities and River Activities
Soaring Eagle Camp Ground provides essential amenities for a comfortable camping experience. These include fire pits at every campsite, allowing campers to enjoy campfires (subject to any local regulations and safety guidelines). Picnic tables are also provided at each campsite, offering a convenient space for outdoor dining and other activities.
Restroom facilities are available, consisting of four portable restrooms (porta potties) located throughout the campground. Additionally, there is a bathroom near the office and one more portable restroom in that vicinity. While not traditional flush toilets, the presence of multiple restroom options suggests an effort to provide adequate facilities for the number of campers, especially given the report of a relatively low number of guests during one visitor's stay.
The campground actively promotes and supports river-based activities such as kayaking, tubing, and canoeing. The direct access to the Upper Delaware River makes it an ideal launch point or stopover for these adventures. However, as noted by a reviewer, the current in the river is "very strong," and it is suggested to "staying on the right side of the river (the campsite side)" for safety during these activities. This highlights the importance of caution and awareness of the river's conditions.
While not explicitly stated, being an "RV CAMPGROUND," it is likely that Soaring Eagle offers some level of hookups for RVs, such as water and electric. However, this is an inference based on the initial description and would need to be confirmed directly with the campground. Tent campers are also welcome, particularly those involved in river travel.
The friendly nature of the staff is a significant positive aspect highlighted by a visitor who "loved all of them." Positive interactions with campground staff can greatly enhance the overall camping experience, contributing to a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere.
The phone numbers provided, (570) 224-4666 and +1 570-224-4666, are the primary means of contact for potential campers to inquire about reservations, site availability, specific amenities for RVs and tents, and any regulations regarding river activities or safety. Direct communication with the campground is essential to get the most accurate and up-to-date information.
Promotional Information and Unique Selling Points
The key promotional aspects of Soaring Eagle Camp Ground include its absolutely beautiful location directly on the Upper Delaware River, offering stunning scenic views and a tranquil environment. It is particularly appealing to those interested in river activities such as kayaking, tubing, and canoeing, with direct access to the waterway. Fishing is also a potential draw, with evidence of trout being caught nearby.
The campground's quiet and peaceful atmosphere, especially when not at full capacity, offers a relaxing escape from more crowded camping destinations. The friendly staff contributes to a welcoming and enjoyable stay.
For local users searching for "camping near me" who own RVs or are interested in tent camping along the Upper Delaware River, Soaring Eagle provides a prime location. The ability to launch river adventures directly from the campground is a significant convenience for kayakers, tubers, and canoeists.
While swimming is not recommended due to the strong current and lack of lifeguards, the river remains a focal point for other recreational activities and its scenic beauty. Potential campers should be aware of the rocky access to the water and the need for caution.
The campground's designation as an "RV CAMPGROUND" suggests that it is well-equipped to handle recreational vehicles, likely offering appropriate site sizes and potentially hookups. The welcome extended to tent campers, especially those involved in river travel, broadens its appeal.
The combination of a beautiful riverfront location, opportunities for various water activities (excluding swimming), a quiet atmosphere, and friendly staff makes Soaring Eagle Camp Ground a noteworthy option for those seeking a riverside camping experience in the Upper Delaware region.

Jun 23, 2024 · Vero YorkieAn amazing, wonderful campground! It was quiet here with around 10 families in the whole campground. All the staff were very friendly, and I loved all of them. We arrived here on Friday evening, and we stayed till Sunday morning. There are 4 portable restrooms (porta potties). You can also use the bathroom near the office and there is 1 portable restroom there. All your neighbor-campers are friendly. There is a fire-pit in every campsite and picnic tables. You can go kayaking, tubing, or canoeing, or swim in the water. The current is very strong, so I suggest staying on the right side of the river (the campsite side). Enjoy the moment here and the view!
Jul 24, 2023 · DanHad a wonderful one night stay this Saturday (late September). Needed to reserve last minute campsite for a group of many first time campers, and they were very accommodating, and friendly. Bathrooms / Restrooms are CLEAN! Showers as well. Staff were so incredibly helpful and approachable and made sure to help us from the moment we stepped into the office. If you have time, make sure to visit the river shore and look up at a magnificent view of all the stars. Our entire group agreed that we would most definitely come back! Thank you Soaring Eagle!
Sep 26, 2022 · Sello CeeBeautiful spot on the river. Not too big so not crazy loud like others up the river. Family run and very nice staff. No crazy loud music/parties and they have a curfew of 11pm that's monitored. The water taste likes sulphur so bring your own. There is one shower each for men/women so enjoy being stinky - hey it's your vacation you are allowed :)
Sep 04, 2021 · Elaine Keating-BrownThis is a beautiful oasis of nature. The river is gorgeous and the staff are incredibly friendly. I have been going for years and plan on going for years. Great for a family trip, a couples trip, a guys trip, or any kind of fun. Plan to go forever, love it.
