Redfish Outlet Campground offers a gateway to the stunning landscapes of Idaho, often compared favorably to the scenery of Colorado and Washington State, with the added benefit of potentially fewer crowds. According to one camper, the area provides a lovely vibe of solitude and relaxation, even during peak seasons like pike season. This suggests that those seeking a peaceful retreat in nature might find Redfish Outlet Campground appealing.
This reviewer also provided a practical tip for visitors: checking the weather forecast before traveling. Given the potentially long drive to this scenic location, ensuring favorable weather conditions can enhance the overall experience, especially if beach activities are planned. They also noted that the water in the area can be chilly but invigorating, making a dip worthwhile even if brief.
Another visitor, while not camping at the location, utilized the day-use area and beach and described it as "absolutely gorgeous." The beach is characterized by soft sand, a desirable feature compared to rocky shores. Although this visitor noted that the area was crowded (a common occurrence in popular spots), they still highlighted the beauty of the location. The swimming area is safely roped off from boaters and reaches a depth of a little over five feet at its deepest point. An anchored dock is accessible by walking out from the beach, providing another point of interest and access to the crystal-clear waters of Redfish Lake.
For basic facilities, the day-use area is equipped with nearby vault toilets. There is a $9 fee for parking in the day-use area, and despite the beach being full on a Sunday afternoon, this visitor reported that there was ample parking available. This suggests that even during busy times, access to the lake and beach remains relatively convenient.
Combining these reviews, Redfish Outlet Campground and its surrounding area offer a blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities. For those interested in "camping near me," the campground itself likely provides access to these same stunning surroundings, possibly with the added benefit of overnight stays immersed in the Sawtooth NRA. Campers can likely expect to enjoy the lake access, the potential for fishing (as mentioned with pike season), and the overall serene environment.
To provide a more detailed picture for potential campers, information about the specific amenities within the campground would be helpful. Typically, campgrounds offer a range of services such as:
- Individual campsites, which may vary in terms of hookups (e.g., water, electric), size, and whether they are tent-only or RV-friendly.

- Potable water sources.
- Fire pits or designated areas for campfires.
- Picnic tables at campsites.

Given its location within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, campers at Redfish Outlet Campground can also expect to be surrounded by opportunities for hiking, exploring the natural landscape, and enjoying the overall wilderness experience. The mention of crystal-clear water suggests potential for activities beyond swimming, such as kayaking or paddleboarding, although the reviews do not explicitly detail these.

Redfish Outlet Campground Reviews
Wow, just wow! Idaho totally gives Colorado and Washington State a run for their money, and here's the kicker – way fewer tourists and way less crowd hassle. I hit up this gem during pike season and even then, it had this lovely vibe of solitude and relaxation. Quick tip: peek at the weather forecast before you hit the road. No one wants to drive hours only to find out it's gonna rain, messing up your beach plans. And yeah, brace yourself for some chilly water – but trust me, that dip is worth every shiver, even if it's just a quick one.
Aug 27, 2023 · Ivan CoronaDidn't camp here, just used the day use area and beach. Absolutely gorgeous and the beach is soft sand, not rocky. It was crowded but everywhere is now. The swimming area is roped off from boaters and was a little over 5' at it's deepest. You can walk out to the anchored dock from the beach. Water in redfish is chilly but feels great and the lake is crystal clear. There are vault toilets close by. There is a $9 fee to park and there was plenty of parking despite the beach being full on a Sunday afternoon.
Aug 02, 2022 · Mike KauspedasThis was an amazing place to spend the day! There was a lot of room on the beach. I recommend a beach cart, since the parking lot was quite a ways from the car. Not too far, unless you're bringing a ton of stuff... Which we did. 😂 The water is super cold, and the wind picks up in the afternoon until evening.
Jul 16, 2022 · Heidi GRed fish is a magnificent place if you like beautiful lakes, nice people, and gorgeous land, plus the lodge has great food and the feel of the place is comfortable. I was a cook there in 96ish. It's one of my favorite moments in life!!
Sep 02, 2021 · Aaron BrownThis was where my family camped every year before it became a resort location. If you're looking for a quiet space to camp and see the stars, look somewhere else. It's full of giant RVs running their generators 24/7 and resorts.
