This suggests that campers can expect a scenic environment with potential access to outdoor activities and picturesque landscapes. The review mentioning it being located in a "beautiful area of NY" reinforces this, indicating that the campground benefits from its surroundings, offering a pleasant backdrop for a relaxing camping trip. Local users can anticipate a setting that combines natural charm with a sense of peacefulness.
One of the standout features consistently mentioned is the quiet atmosphere of Royal Mountain Campground. One traveler who stayed overnight in October described it as a "nice, quiet campground." Whether you're looking for a restful night's sleep or a serene environment to unwind during the day, Royal Mountain Campground seems to prioritize a calm ambiance.
While one reviewer's experience in October was limited by the early onset of darkness, they did mention that the "bathrooms/showers reminded me of Scout camp! They were very clean." This provides insight into the campground's facilities, suggesting they are basic but well-maintained. Cleanliness of restrooms and showers is a crucial aspect for any campground, and the positive feedback in this regard indicates a commitment to hygiene and guest comfort.
A delightful and unique feature of Royal Mountain Campground is the presence of "Granny's ice cream," which one reviewer enthusiastically declared as "the best" with "huge portion small price." This on-site or very nearby treat adds a special touch to the camping experience, offering a local indulgence that guests can enjoy. The combination of quality and value makes this an attractive amenity, particularly for families and those with a sweet tooth.
The natural environment within the campground is also appreciated, with one reviewer noting "Lots of trees and shade." This is a significant benefit, especially during the warmer summer months, providing relief from the sun and creating a cooler and more comfortable camping environment. This suggests that Royal Mountain Campground offers competitive pricing, at least during the off-season, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers and local users alike. The fact that they expressed a desire to return "one day" further indicates a positive overall impression, despite the limited time spent there.
While the reviews provide a good overview of the quiet environment, clean facilities, delicious ice cream, shady campsites, friendly management, and a fishing pond, they do not offer specific details about other potential services or amenities. Local users might want to inquire about the availability of things like fire pits, picnic tables, water and electric hookups (if needed), Wi-Fi access, laundry facilities, or any organized activities that might be offered during the camping season.

Royal Mountain Campground Reviews
We stayed here one night in October in a travel trailer while traveling coast to coast. This is a nice, quiet campground. I suspect it would be a comfortable, pleasant stay in the summer. The bathrooms/showers reminded me of Scout camp! They were very clean. The problem with traveling in October is it gets dark early and, therefore, we didn't arrive early enough to fully enjoy this campground. We did get a great rate, however.Perhaps one day we can return.
Nov 11, 2024 · Terry GriffisWhat a nice campground. Quiet after the traffic ends for the day. Located in a beautiful area of NY. There is a little fishing pond. Granny's ice cream is the best. Huge portion small price. Lots of trees and shade. Management Todd, is very friendly and nice. We would return to this campground.
Aug 26, 2024 · Karen BaileyWe stayed there Labor Day Weekend. Due to rain we chose the cabin. The cabin was clean affordable and well stocked. The bathrooms were kept also very clean. We are planning to go there for more weekends next year
Sep 03, 2024 · Janet WhiterockBeautiful little campground. Mostly seasonal, but well kept. Short term sites do not have sewer, but the dump station is convenient for big rigs. We stopped here a couple nights to visit friends as we drove through the area, but it's also a great spot an hour from Cooperstown. It's a winding climb to the campground, but worth the trip even if it is just for the ice-cream. We would stay here again if we are ever back to the area.
Jul 14, 2022 · Dave MStayed here for a nice long weekend with friends, we loved every minute! The camp is mainly RVs but we stayed in tents and it was an amazing experience. The camp owners are super friendly, and checked on us every so often as we were hadn't been there before. Neighboring campers lent us wood when we ran out. Everything was incredibly clean including the bathrooms and showers. Granny's Ice Cream is to die for! I would 100% camp here again and I cannot wait to do so!
