One reviewer highlighted the peacefulness of a midweek stay, noting that while they were the only campers, this solitude enhanced their experience. This suggests that even during less busy times, the campground maintains a serene atmosphere perfect for those seeking a quiet retreat in nature. The facilities at this KOA appear to be a significant highlight. Multiple reviews commend the cleanliness and modern updates of the campground. One visitor explicitly stated that everything was "well-maintained and spotless," which is a crucial factor for any camper, whether a seasoned RV traveler or someone enjoying a weekend in a tent. Clean and well-kept facilities contribute greatly to comfort and peace of mind, making the stay more enjoyable and stress-free for local campers.
The location of Sam A. Baker/Otahki Lake KOA offers opportunities for exploration and engagement with the natural surroundings. One reviewer mentioned a "scenic hike down to the river," indicating that the campground provides access to nearby waterways, potentially for leisurely walks along the banks or perhaps even water-based activities (though this would need to be confirmed). Another visitor enthusiastically described a trail that goes "all around the lake," suggesting that the campground is situated near Otahki Lake and offers dedicated pathways for walking, hiking, and enjoying the waterfront scenery. The presence of such trails caters to those who appreciate active outdoor pursuits as part of their camping experience.
The journey to the campground itself is also noteworthy. One review mentions that the last two miles leading to the KOA are on a gravel road. However, the reviewer was quick to reassure potential visitors, especially those with RVs, that the road is "very easy to drive on." One reviewer described them as "incredibly clean and individual," suggesting a level of privacy and hygiene that is often highly valued by campers. Individual bathrooms can offer added comfort and convenience, further enhancing the positive experience for visitors.
The timing of a visit can also influence the scenic beauty of the area. One guest who stayed during the third week of October raved about the fall foliage, noting that "the trees were in peak" and the reflections on the water were "beautiful to see." This indicates that local users considering a fall camping trip might be rewarded with stunning autumnal landscapes around the campground and Otahki Lake.

Sam A. Baker/Otahki Lake KOA Reviews
We found a hidden gem at the Sam A. Baker/Otahki Lake KOA in Patterson, MO! While we were the only campers during our midweek stay, this actually added to the peaceful experience. The staff member who greeted us was incredibly welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home despite being the sole visitors. The campground's facilities impressed us with their cleanliness and modern updates. Everything was well-maintained and spotless. We took advantage of the location to explore, enjoying a scenic hike down to the river which was a lovely addition to our stay.Though it felt a bit like having our own private campground (which was actually quite nice!), the warm welcome and top-notch facilities made for an excellent overnight stop. The serene setting and friendly service definitely earned their 5-star rating. If you're passing through Missouri and need a peaceful place to camp, this KOA is definitely worth a visit!
Jan 06, 2025 · Cristi WhiteThis was a wonderful park! The last 2 miles are on gravel road, but don't let that deter you. Very easy to drive on with our RV. Very clean park and the stars are amazing. Very dark skies and a wonderful place to stargaze. Bathrooms are incredibly clean and individual. We were there the 3rd week in October and the trees were in peak. Beautiful to see reflecting off the water and lots of places to walk. Even have a trail that goes all around the lake. Will definitely come back next time we are in the area.
Oct 28, 2024 · Marilyn BoyceGreat place to stay. Store was somewhat under stocked, but it is the off season. We did not know we needed to reserve a golf cart, we do now. The price to rent a golf cart is a little higher than most, but if you want one, I guess you’ll pay the price. Unless you’re willing to walk to the lake, without a golf cart you’re limited on access. Very well kept. I have already booked for next year.
Nov 04, 2024 · Sean CopelandCamped here a couple of times and never had an issue. Host is very welcoming. Plenty of things to do for kids and adults. Pizza made to order and delivered to your campsite and is delicious. We rented a golf cart and drove to the river to swim. The campground has 2 river access to choose from and while they are about 1 mile from the campground they are amazing swimming/fishing holes.
Jul 29, 2024 · Danny GriffonFirst time visit with my grandsons. We enjoyed so much. Hot tub was a hit and the golf cart was so much fun to explore in. Wifi was a save at night. Kids could play on their kindles.Wish the beach had been swimmable but everything else was so great could only give 5 stars. Staff was beyond friendly and helpful. We will be back!
