Scissortail Campground Reviews
We decided to do a spontaneous camping trip and didn't want to go to far, we called a reserved a spot and mentioned we had kids so the manager put us right next to the playground and a short walk to the lake and bathrooms. We had some trouble with our tent and I believe it was the manager and her husband helped us get set up. Bathrooms were clean and the campground was very nice! Glad to have electricity at the site also! Staff was very friendly and helpful!
Mar 18, 2024 · LaVeta CooperA beautiful and peaceful place to stay.We loved watching the animals. Thanks so much for your hospitality, Christina & Paul. You are excellent Camp-Hosts!Claudia & Ueli from Switzerland.
Oct 20, 2024 · Ueli WirthWe've stayed here a few times before and our site had a wonderful view of Arcadia Lake. It was wintertime so we were pretty much the only people there. The water handles had been removed but the camp host showed me how to get the spigot to work. The hosts are the best. They have helped with other things on previous visits.
Feb 19, 2025 · ChrisI have camped here regularly for years, staying sometimes weeks at a time. It used to be like a second home. But I don’t know if it changed management recently but with all the new changes, I will never give this place another dime. The management is greedy, and unethical and it’s just not worth it anymore. First they went all (severely outdated digital) only allowing reservations on the website using your card. Fine. But then they add on a “fee” for using their website. And then they raised their prices! So it went from $25/night to almost $38 a night. And then, depending on the mood the office is in, Now they require a two, sometimes three night minimum stay. Very irritating……. But fine, steal some more money. So this time around. I have been there For two days already. I Planned to put the camper back in storage on Friday morning. I got stuck at work. Check out is at 1. I call at 1245 and ask to extend it one more day. She tells me that I am not allowed to extend it one more day, that it Is a two night minimum. I tell her that I have already been there for two days and I just got stuck at work and I just wanted to extend it one more day so I could get the camper out. She tells me that I have to stay through the weekend because of their policy. (So FOUR days.) I tell her I didn’t want to stay through the weekend… As I have already been there two days and I will Just leave work immediately to go and get the camper. It’s a 13 minute drive. I have 15 minutes to check out. She then very rudely informed me that if I did not have it out in 15 minutes that she will charge me a fine.. I’m sorry WHAT. That’s sickening considering over half of the park is always empty at all times. So I went ahead and paid for another two days ($75!!!!!!) when now I wish I just Took the fine so I could have gotten out of there. But I can guarantee I will never step Foot there again and will definitely never give them another dime. They are beyond greedy. And it’s funny considering you can only reach the water hookups at four of the campsites ( out of like 30) there is trash literally all over the park. None of the bathrooms have soap, hand dryers, and half the bathrooms don’t even have running water to wash your hands. And the showers, if you can find one that even works, have have zero water pressure. So you can’t even count on the Facilities to be usable. But yet they want to significantly raise their prices, and force people to stay longer than they want to. Never, ever again.
Apr 04, 2025 · Sierra RVery nice little spot. They let you drive the park and pick your site. Beautiful sunrises in the am. We saw two large groups of deer, each one had 7 or 8 deer. They wandered all afternoon and morning through the grounds, they seem to be fairly comfortable around people - they got very close to us, but kept their distance. Amazing to watch them so up close. Very quiet at night. The bathrooms could be a little better kept, but they also have signs all over saying it may not be kept open after Oct 31st. So they may have limited staff after the summer. All in all a very nice little retreat for the night. Close to lots of nice little independent restaurants.
