Sherman Oaks Campground

1601 US-25W, Dandridge, TN 37725, USA

3.0
Started off badly showed up at 7pm and my spot. Was given to someone else traveling threw and I had spot reserved for 3 weeks. Was planning on being here for 2 months, well now there trying to tell me I have to pay a year lease. They knew before we came we only needed place for 2-3 months because of buying land. Can't ever get ahold of female that set up this on phone. Keep telling friends of ours who called that they only have one open spot which is a lie from hell, and told them they could payMonthly but had to pay over the phone immediatly cause other people are on the way. At least 10 open spots right now, nothing is level and electric looks sketchy with water issues all the time maintenance keeps cutting off everyone's water to fix. - William S. Atcheson

Sherman Oaks Campground Introduce

Searching for "camping near me" in the Dandridge, Tennessee area? Sherman Oaks Campground, located at 1601 US-25W, offers a small park setting with gravel and grass sites. Based on recent customer feedback, it's important for prospective visitors to be aware of both the potential benefits and drawbacks of this campground to make an informed decision.

One recurring theme in the reviews is the mention of "shade trees" within the park. This could be a significant advantage for campers seeking relief from the sun, especially during the warmer months. The presence of large trees can contribute to a more comfortable and enjoyable outdoor experience, providing natural cooling and a pleasant ambiance to some of the campsites.

Another point noted by a reviewer is that the park appears "clean," which is generally a positive aspect for any campground. Maintaining a clean environment contributes to a more pleasant and hygienic stay for all guests.

However, the reviews also highlight several areas of concern that potential visitors should carefully consider. One customer recounted a significant issue upon arrival, stating that their pre-booked spot (reserved for three weeks) had been given to another traveler. This incident raises questions about the campground's reservation management system and the reliability of bookings. Furthermore, this customer, who initially intended to stay for two to three months, reported being unexpectedly told they would need to sign a year-long lease. This discrepancy between the initial agreement and the subsequent demand suggests potential communication and policy issues that prospective long-term stayers should clarify in advance.

The same reviewer also mentioned difficulties in contacting the "female that set up this on phone" and inconsistencies in information provided to their friends regarding site availability and payment terms. These reports suggest potential challenges in communication and customer service that could impact the overall guest experience.

In terms of the physical condition of the campground, one review describes it as a "very small park with gravel and grass sites." This small size might appeal to those seeking a more intimate camping experience, but it could also mean limited space and fewer amenities compared to larger campgrounds.

The review also points out that "there were some deep tire ruts on some sites," indicating that certain areas might become quite muddy during rainy periods. This is an important consideration for campers, especially those with larger RVs or those planning to stay during seasons with frequent rainfall. Additionally, the reviewer noted that while the "sites are fairly level," some do have "a bit of a slope," which could require extra effort in leveling RVs or tents for a comfortable setup.

Navigating the campground might also present some challenges, as the "roads are narrow and turns can be a bit tight." This is crucial information for RV owners, particularly those with larger rigs, as careful maneuvering will be necessary to avoid difficulties while entering, exiting, and moving within the park. Paying close attention to the route through the park is strongly advised.

Regarding utilities, the review states that the "hookups were old but ok," suggesting that while functional, the infrastructure might not be the newest. It's also mentioned that "some sites are only 30 Amp," which is an important limitation for RVs requiring higher power for their appliances. Campers should confirm the amperage of the hookup at their assigned site to ensure it meets their electrical needs.

Another potential concern raised is the mention of "electric looks sketchy with water issues all the time maintenance keeps cutting off everyone's water to fix." These comments suggest potential instability or maintenance challenges with the campground's essential utilities, which could lead to inconvenience for guests. Frequent water shutoffs for repairs could disrupt daily routines and impact the overall comfort of the stay.

The review also indicates that "a lot of the sites are full time people," but this was not an issue for the reviewer. For some campers, a high proportion of long-term residents can contribute to a sense of community or quietness, while others might prefer a more transient camping environment. It's a matter of personal preference.

In terms of connectivity, the reviewer noted that "AT&T service was very good, Verizon was decent." This information can be valuable for campers who rely on their mobile phones or internet access during their stay. However, signal strength can vary depending on the specific location within the campground and the individual's device.

The reviewer also mentioned not using any of the campground's facilities since they had their own. This means there is no firsthand account of the condition or quality of any communal amenities that Sherman Oaks Campground might offer, such as restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, or recreational areas. Potential guests who rely on these amenities will need to inquire separately about their availability and condition.

Based on the limited information available from these reviews, Sherman Oaks Campground appears to be a small park with some appealing features like shade trees and a generally clean environment. However, potential guests should be aware of reported issues concerning reservation management, communication, site levelness, narrow roads, potentially older utilities, and occasional disruptions in water service. The presence of long-term residents might be a factor to consider based on individual preferences.

Given the lack of specific details about amenities and the mixed feedback regarding management and infrastructure, it is strongly recommended that prospective campers contact Sherman Oaks Campground directly at (865) 397-4080 or +1 865-397-4080 to inquire about current availability, site specifics (including amperage and levelness), the status of utilities, reservation policies, and any other concerns they may have. Direct communication will be crucial in obtaining the most accurate and up-to-date information to determine if Sherman Oaks Campground meets their needs for "camping near me" in Dandridge, TN.

Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Therefore, any inquiries about special rates, discounts, or long-term stay options should be directed to the campground management via the phone numbers provided.
