Based on recent customer reviews, this campground appears to be a hidden gem, providing a variety of amenities and recreational opportunities for a diverse range of campers.
One reviewer described Spring Villa Campground as a "sleeper Campground," expressing their delight in discovering it. They highlighted the "very well kept grounds," acknowledging that maintaining this level of upkeep involves some noise from mowers and weed eaters. This suggests that the management prioritizes the appearance and maintenance of the campground, which is a significant positive for those who appreciate a clean and orderly camping environment. For local users seeking "camping near me" with an emphasis on well-maintained surroundings, Spring Villa Campground seems to fit the bill.
A significant feature of Spring Villa Campground, as noted by the same reviewer, is the impressive array of recreational activities available. These include playgrounds, making it an excellent choice for families with children looking for "camping near me" that offers on-site entertainment for kids. The presence of hiking trails caters to those who enjoy exploring the outdoors and getting some exercise amidst nature. For enthusiasts of niche outdoor sports, the campground also boasts a disc golf course and a 3D archery range, providing unique and engaging activities that set it apart from more basic campgrounds in the area. Additionally, the reviewer mentioned the ongoing construction of a "big lodge," hinting at potential future enhancements and amenities that could further improve the guest experience.
For pet owners searching for "camping near me," Spring Villa Campground appears to have a relaxed pet policy. While there isn't a designated dog park, the reviewer mentioned taking their dog to a large field to play off-leash and also allowing their dog off-leash on the hiking trail when no one else was around. They also noted that their dog enjoyed swimming in a small creek. This suggests a degree of flexibility for responsible pet owners, allowing them to enjoy the natural surroundings with their furry companions. However, it's always advisable for pet owners to confirm the specific pet policies and leash rules with the campground management to ensure a harmonious stay for everyone.
In terms of campsite features, the reviewer mentioned the availability of "pull throughs with a cement pad." This is a significant convenience, particularly for RV owners, as pull-through sites eliminate the need to back in, making setup and departure much easier. The cement pad adds to the stability and cleanliness of the campsite. While this particular reviewer did not use the campground's bathroom and shower facilities as they had their own in their RV, they expressed confidence that these facilities would be very clean, based on the overall well-maintained state of the rest of the park. Another reviewer who stayed for a rodeo/concert specifically mentioned "clean showers/bathrooms," corroborating the positive impression of the campground's hygiene standards. For local campers who rely on campground facilities, the cleanliness of restrooms and showers is often a crucial factor when choosing "camping near me."
The location of Spring Villa Campground in Opelika also offers the advantage of proximity to local attractions and amenities. The reviewer mentioned that the "downtown historic district" of Opelika is "very cute with lots of restaurant choices." This provides campers with opportunities to explore the local culture, enjoy diverse dining options, and access any necessary supplies or services in town, enhancing the overall camping experience. The convenience of being close to a charming town adds to the appeal for local users seeking a balance between natural retreat and accessibility to urban conveniences.
Another reviewer who stayed for a weekend event praised the campground as "small but clean & full hookup." The availability of full hookups (water, electricity, and sewer) is a significant advantage for RV campers, offering maximum convenience and comfort. This reviewer also echoed the sentiment of a "great price" and stated they would "definitely recommend staying." They also noted that their 27-foot travel trailer fit comfortably in a pull-through site with "plenty of room." This reinforces the suitability of Spring Villa Campground for RVs and the positive experience of the pull-through sites.
The environment of Spring Villa Campground appears to be characterized by well-maintained grounds, including open fields, wooded areas with hiking trails, and a small creek. The presence of recreational facilities like the disc golf course and 3D archery range suggests a spacious and varied landscape. While the noise from mowing and weed eating is mentioned as a temporary aspect of the upkeep, the overall impression is of a cared-for and pleasant natural setting. The opportunity for off-leash pet activities in designated areas or when trails are empty further suggests a relatively open and natural environment.
The services offered at Spring Villa Campground include well-maintained grounds, clean showers and bathrooms, laundry facilities (implied by the mention of clean bathrooms), and potentially friendly and helpful registration staff (as indicated by the positive mention of "Thanks Jeff with registration!"). The availability of full hookup sites caters specifically to RV campers. The ongoing construction of a lodge hints at potential future expanded services or amenities.
The features of Spring Villa Campground are numerous and appealing. These include pull-through campsites with cement pads, full hookups, playgrounds, hiking trails, a disc golf course, a 3D archery range, and a relaxed pet policy allowing off-leash activities under certain conditions. The clean and well-maintained facilities are also a significant feature. The proximity to the historic downtown of Opelika with its restaurants adds to the overall appeal.

Spring Villa Campground Reviews
This was definitely a sleeper Campground so glad we found it. Very well kept grounds although you do have to put up with Mower and weed eater noises to keep it that way. This Campground has everything you would want a playgrounds hiking trails disc golf or 3D archery they're building a big lodge too. There isn't a dog park but they're pretty laid-back and we just took our dog to a big field & let her off leash and threw the ball for her we also took her on the hiking trail and were able to have her off leash since it was no one else on the trail and she went swimming in the little creek! There are pull throughs with a cement pad. We didn't use the bathroom for showers cuz we have one in our RV but if it's anything like the rest of the park I'm sure they were very clean. The town of Opelika is downtown historic district is very cute with lots of restaurant choices.
Apr 15, 2025 · Debra VogelStayed this past weekend at campground while in area for rodeo/ concert. Campground is small but clean & full hookup with clean showers/ bathrooms. Great price & I would definitely recommend staying. I have 27 ft travel trailer & site was pull thru with plenty of room.🤠 Thanks Jeff with registration!
Apr 14, 2025 · RitaAn interesting mix of well maintained and abandoned. The campground area and surrounding park is excellent, well kept, and obviously routinely maintained. The staff was pleasant, professional and friendly....and frequently seen out taking care of the grounds in and around the campground. Always willing to offer a wave and/or a quick friendly chat.Nice hiking trail around the campus and there's a disc golf course on the park side of the grounds that makes for a good hike if no one is playing (or you are).On the other side of all that goodness: the bridge is out on one of the main routes in from Opelika and that adds a unique challenge to getting here. The pool has clearly been abandoned for several years. The Penn-Younge Home seems to be shuttered and parts of it appear to be being used for storage...hard to say since it isn't open for visitors at the moment.
Oct 25, 2024 · Sue KiddI was looking for campgrounds to stay at while I was working in Opelika, there is another one about the same distance away from my place of work, however, this campground is so much nicer, full concrete pads, full, hook up, great Wi-Fi, and the groundskeeper Jeff is very friendly helpful and just an awesome person. I would highly recommend this campground over the other couple that are here in Opelika
Sep 21, 2023 · Matt WattersVery reasonably priced, clean campground run by city of Opelika, AL. If coming in from east, don’t follow Google directions - you’ll be routed to a dirt road. Instead, take 51 south from i85, then left onto 169.
