Arapeen Palisade Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in Utah, the Arapeen Palisade Campground, located at 4855 S 1580 W, Sterling, UT 84665, USA, offers a lakeside camping experience that appears to be particularly appealing during the warmer months. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground provides access to a beautiful lake with clear and warm water, making it an ideal spot for water-based activities and relaxation. The campground seems well-suited for both RV campers and larger groups, offering a variety of camping areas and facilities. However, some areas for improvement have been noted, particularly regarding the upkeep of the grass areas.
The Environment: Lakeside Beauty and Warm Waters
The central environmental feature of Arapeen Palisade Campground is undoubtedly the lake associated with Palisade State Park. Reviews consistently highlight the clear and warm water, making it perfect for swimming and spending entire days enjoying the lake. For RV campers, the early mornings and evenings on the lake are described as particularly enjoyable, offering a quiet and peaceful atmosphere while still being comfortably warm. The absence of motorboats, while not explicitly stated, is implied by the calm and peaceful nature of the lake mentioned in one review, which often enhances the tranquility and suitability for swimming and kayaking (although kayaking is not directly mentioned in these reviews).
The campground is situated in Sterling, Utah, which is part of the scenic Sanpete Valley. This region is known for its natural beauty, with the Wasatch Mountains to the east and the San Pitch Mountains to the west. The presence of Palisade State Park suggests that the campground is likely surrounded by picturesque landscapes, offering opportunities for enjoying Utah's outdoors beyond just the lake itself. The overall environment seems conducive to a relaxing and enjoyable camping experience, especially for those who love water activities.
Services and Amenities: Facilities for a Comfortable Stay
Based on the customer feedback, Arapeen Palisade Campground offers some essential facilities to accommodate its guests. One review explicitly mentions the presence of "bathroom and showers," which is a significant amenity for campers, especially those in tents or RVs without onboard facilities. The fact that these are described as "nice" suggests they are reasonably well-maintained and contribute positively to the camping experience.
The mention of "lots of camping areas" indicates that the campground can accommodate a significant number of visitors, likely catering to both tent and RV campers. However, specific details about the types of campsites (e.g., size, hookups) are not provided in these reviews. It would be beneficial for local users to inquire about the availability of RV hookups (water, electricity, sewer) if they plan to camp in an RV.
One area for improvement noted by a reviewer is the upkeep of the grass areas, which were described as needing better maintenance and leveling, with some muddy areas present. This suggests that while the core facilities like bathrooms and showers are satisfactory, the grounds themselves might have some issues, particularly after rain or during certain times of the year. Local users with concerns about ground conditions, especially those with mobility issues or young children, might want to inquire about the specific conditions of their campsite.
Other typical campground amenities that might be available, but are not explicitly mentioned in these reviews, could include:
- Potable water sources.
- Waste disposal facilities.
- Picnic tables and fire pits at campsites.
- A designated area for RV dumping (if RV sites with hookups are available).
- Potentially a campground host or information kiosk.
To get a comprehensive list of available services and amenities, local users should contact Arapeen Palisade Campground directly.
Features and Activities: Lakeside Fun and Family Gatherings
The standout feature of Arapeen Palisade Campground is its access to the lake, which offers a variety of recreational opportunities:
- Swimming: The clear and warm water is ideal for swimming and spending extended periods in the lake, especially during hot summer days.
- Cliff/Rock Diving: One reviewer mentioned a "fun little cliff/rock diving area" on the other side of the lake, suggesting an adventurous activity for those who enjoy it. Safety precautions for such activities should always be observed.
- Boating (Non-Motorized Implied): While not explicitly stated, the calm and peaceful nature of the lake often implies suitability for non-motorized boating activities like kayaking or paddleboarding (though these are not directly mentioned in the reviews).
- Family Reunions: The campground appears to be a suitable location for large family gatherings, with ample camping areas and water-based activities to keep everyone entertained.
- Relaxation: The quiet and peaceful mornings and evenings on the lake provide a serene environment for relaxation.
The presence of a lake as the central feature suggests that water-related activities are the primary draw of this campground. Local users who enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and possibly other water sports will likely find Arapeen Palisade Campground appealing.

Arapeen Palisade Campground Reviews
We loved our experience here mid July. It was so hot we just wanted to be in the water all day every day. The water was clear and warm. We were in an RV and early morning and evenings were my favorite times to be out on the lake. So quiet and peaceful, yet still nice and warm.
Jul 29, 2022 · Dixie DowningHad a large family reunion and we had a great time out on the water. On the other side there is a fun little cliff/rock diving area. Facilities are nice with bathroom and showers. Lots of camping areas. The only thing I would like better is grass area to be kept better. Need better grass and also leveled because there are some muddy areas. But it is a fun place to go.
Aug 04, 2019 · Rex DastrupSo I usually try to stay pretty objective with my reviews and try not to be to negative when rating but with this "camp ground" I just can't do it. We didn't stay here. We we're in the area for a family reunion and have heard people talk about how much they like to camp here. So we decided to go to the campground and see if it's somewhere that we would like to camp. Uh... No. I would never camp here. I know people that say that they like to but I'm not sure why. The spots are very small and I don't think you would have a hard time fitting any bigger than a 27' trailer here. If that big. Maybe down at the group sites. The sites are so open and so close that it had a KAO feel to it but without the amenities. The entire campground felt like one big group site. Now they do renat kayaks and paddle boats for the lake, they have a beach area that is good for kids and they stock the lake with fish so it has that going for it, but in order to fish you have to fish away from the beach area or the dock area and when we went there the lake was pretty low. I get it if it's close to you. It's a place to camp, but if your going to drive a couple of hours there are other choices that have an actual camping feel to it. Plus this would be a good place to camp for hunting season. As far as loading the trailer, packing the kids and driving a couple hours I won't be going here.
Jul 19, 2018 · Colby DonnelsonCamping is good. Attitude is bad. My wife needs to be on oxygen 24/7. We requested a handicap space with electricity to power the oxygen unit. Their response was. ... first come first serve. I explained over again the problem and need. Answer was.... that's what everybody says. We contacted the ADA .
