The Narrows Introduce
For local users searching within the "camping near me" category, The Narrows, located at 1880 Narrows Rd, Lucas, KY 42156, USA, offers a camping experience with potential access to Barren River Lake. You can reach them at (270) 646-3094 or +1 270-646-3094. Based on the available customer reviews, let's explore what The Narrows might offer for your local camping needs.
The environment surrounding The Narrows is clearly linked to Barren River Lake, as indicated by the positive review mentioning "easy water access." This suggests that campers can likely enjoy activities associated with the lake, such as boating, fishing, and swimming. The location in Lucas, Kentucky, further implies a setting within the natural landscapes of the region, which often includes rolling hills and wooded areas. One review also highlights the 4th of July fireworks display at the state lodge, which is "shot out over the water," and was described as "beautiful," indicating that the lake and its vicinity are focal points for both recreation and scenic views. The mention of a "reasonably priced boat launch" ($5 for non-campers) confirms the accessibility of the lake for boating enthusiasts, whether they are camping or just visiting for the day.
In terms of services and features, the reviews provide some insights. The campground is divided into loops, with at least an "A loop" and a "B loop." One camper noted that the "A loop is much flatter than the B loop," which is important information for those with larger RVs or those who prefer level sites. This same reviewer stayed on site B5 and found that while the top third was flat, the remaining two-thirds had a "pretty good slope," recommending it for campers no longer than 30 feet. This suggests that the terrain within the campground can vary, and it might be wise to inquire about specific site characteristics when making a reservation. The mention of a boat launch, with a specific price for non-campers, is another feature, indicating that the campground caters to those interested in lake activities. The positive review stating the place is "clean" is also a significant aspect of the services offered, suggesting that the management maintains a certain standard of cleanliness within the campground.
Promotional information is somewhat limited but can be inferred from the positive experiences shared. The statement "Love this place... easy water access, clean, always a good time" serves as a strong recommendation. The mention of the "AWESOME" 4th of July fireworks display, viewable over the water, could be seen as a promotional highlight for those considering a visit during that time. The reasonably priced boat launch is also a point that might attract boat owners. However, it's important to note the lack of specific promotions or discounts mentioned in the provided text.
Based on the reviews, The Narrows appears to be a campground that is particularly appealing to those who enjoy water-based activities on Barren River Lake. The easy water access and the presence of a boat launch are significant features. The cleanliness of the campground is also a noted positive. However, potential campers with larger RVs should be aware of the varying terrain in different loops, as highlighted by the experience on the B loop. The campground might be less appealing to those primarily seeking land-based activities within the campground itself, as one reviewer mentioned, "Not a whole lot to do here unless you have a boat."
For local users looking for "camping near me" with a focus on enjoying Barren River Lake, The Narrows seems like a viable option. The positive feedback regarding water access and cleanliness is encouraging. It would be beneficial for prospective campers to contact the campground using the provided phone numbers to inquire about site availability, the specific characteristics of different campsites (especially regarding slope and size limitations), and other amenities offered beyond lake access. Asking about any potential restrictions or recommendations for different types of camping setups would also be helpful.
In conclusion, The Narrows campground in Lucas, KY, offers a camping experience strongly connected to Barren River Lake, with easy water access and a boat launch. While one section of the campground (B loop) may have sloped sites that are less suitable for larger campers, another section (A loop) is noted to be flatter. The campground is also praised for its cleanliness. For local campers interested in a lake-centric getaway, The Narrows is worth considering, and further direct inquiry is recommended to ensure it meets your specific needs and preferences.

The Narrows Reviews
Nice campground. The A loop is much flatter than the B loop. We stayed on B5. It was flat at the top 1/3 but 2/3 of the site had a pretty good slope. I would not recommend more than a 30 foot camper on this site. Not a whole lot to do here unless you have a boat.
Jun 18, 2024 · Marc & Debbie WhitfieldLove this place... easy water access, clean, always a good time. This trip was only a day trip... reasonably priced boat launch, $5 when not camping. 4th of July fireworks display at the state lodge is AWESOME, this year 25 minutes long. Shot out over the water, beautiful camera shots from a boat.
Jul 14, 2023 · Timothy MetzgerThis was our last trip out for the season, the kids always going on the lake, the facility was clean, but the light in the women's restroom area needs to be fixed and the laundry should be back to what it once was. Overall it was great.
Sep 12, 2022 · Bobbie FlenerPretty un level for trailers and the hookups are at the back of the spot so have a long cord and hose. But it's a beautiful place. B16 has the best view.
Sep 07, 2018 · Planting Our Roots HomesteadThis is a crappy campground!!! First its on a hillside and nothing level but half of the parking. The water hook up is about 50' away. No phone wifi!! Narrow is right because the camper spots are very narrow!! No hot water in the showers! This is my first and last time ever camping here!! If you like camping on a hillside, no phone service, and cold showers and share your food with plenty of ants then this place is for you!!
