Based on recent customer reviews, let's delve into the environment, services, and features that Thousand Trails Oaks at Point South provides, offering a detailed overview for those considering a local or regional camping adventure.
The Environment: Wooded Setting with Convenient Interstate Access
One reviewer described Thousand Trails Oaks at Point South as a "wonderful little wooded live oak campground," highlighting the natural beauty of the area with its characteristic live oak trees. This suggests a camping environment that offers shade and a pleasant, natural ambiance. The presence of mature trees can contribute to a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing outdoor experience.
However, it's also important to note that the campground is located "just off I95," indicating easy access to a major interstate highway. While this provides significant convenience for travelers, it might also mean some level of traffic noise. Local users prioritizing accessibility for regional travel might find this a significant advantage, while those seeking complete tranquility should be aware of the proximity to the interstate.
One reviewer mentioned "standing water in many places after a 2 1/2 inch snow event." While snow events of that magnitude might be infrequent in this part of South Carolina, this observation suggests that drainage could be an issue in certain areas of the campground following significant precipitation. Local users planning a stay during or after periods of heavy rain might want to inquire about site conditions.
Despite this, the overall impression of the environment is positive, with the wooded setting being a key draw. The combination of natural beauty and convenient location makes it a potentially attractive option for various camping needs.
Services and Amenities: Basic Hookups, Maintained Facilities, and Friendly Staff
Thousand Trails Oaks at Point South offers essential services for a comfortable stay. Reviewers noted "good water pressure, clean electricity, and a sewer connection" at their sites. These full hookups are crucial for RV travelers, providing the necessary utilities for a seamless camping experience. The availability of reliable water, electricity, and sewer connections adds significant value and convenience.
The campground also features a "large, and well maintained" dog park. This is a significant amenity for campers traveling with pets, providing a dedicated and safe space for dogs to exercise and socialize. The fact that it is well-maintained suggests a commitment to providing quality facilities for pet owners.
Laundry facilities are available, although one reviewer noted that "the laundry room only had one washer functional." This indicates a potential limitation in the availability of laundry services, which could be inconvenient for guests needing to do laundry, especially during peak times. Local users planning an extended stay might want to consider this potential constraint.
The staff at Thousand Trails Oaks at Point South consistently receive positive feedback. They are described as "very friendly and helpful with any questions you may have" and "wonderful." Good communication was also highlighted, with staff informing guests of a water shutdown for repairs. Friendly and helpful staff can greatly enhance the overall camping experience, providing assistance and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
While the campground is described as "very basic" and "by no means is this a resort," it provides the essential amenities for a comfortable and convenient stay, particularly for those utilizing the Thousand Trails network or seeking a base for exploring the surrounding region.

The availability of "nice long pull through sites" is another notable feature, particularly beneficial for RVs, as it allows for easy entry and exit without the need to back in. The presence of "plenty" of these sites suggests good availability for RV travelers.

Thousand Trails Oaks at Point South Reviews
This is a very basic campground just off I95, and it’s included in our Thousand Trails package. We had a nice long pull through site, which there plenty. We had good water pressure, clean electricity, and a sewer connection. Dog park was large, and well maintained. By no means is this a resort, but we will definitely stay here again. Also this is a great location to visit Savannah, Beaufort, or Charleston. The staff are very friendly and helpful with any questions you may have.
Mar 19, 2025 · Joseph CraigWonderful little wooded live oak campground. Centrally located to Savanna, Charleston, Beaufort, and Tybee Island. Wonderful staff present a well maintained facility. Communication was great. We were informed of awater shutdown for repairs.Standing water in many places after a 2 1/2 inch snow event. The laundry room only had one washer functional. I enjoyed the stay overall and would definitely return.
Feb 05, 2025 · Charlene BeckfordWe are TT members and needed a place to safely store our RV with an electric hookup while we spent Thanksgiving with friends an hour away in Bluffton. They have a $50 a week storage fee and we felt good knowing our RV was in a safe place and our fridge would keep running. The office staff is fantastic. She went out of her way to get us in a site after we discovered someone else had parked a utility trailer in our site and the owner couldn’t be found. The site was level and electricity worked fine. We walked around the park on arrival and before we left. The amenities are mostly closed for the season, but it looked nice. It’s a nice, shady park located near many interesting tourist destination.
Dec 01, 2024 · Deb B.Very small RV park. The spaces leave little to NO room to even extend the canopy. We ended up on a double site where 1 the power didn't work so had to use the 2nd site power because the other didn't have water. The water had a lot of air in line and took a while to get water flow in camper. The "lake" is like a stagnant pond. Over flowed with duck weed and tree stumps. No clearing to fish and even when we could get a line in NO fish. We saw an alligator and a few turtles. Not one fish. We left early was such a drag. Place is quite though
Feb 01, 2025 · Mary DriggersNot the greatest campground ever. But it was convenient and well located. It was a sister's camping trip and we needed a pull through site. This one is much quieter than the KOA at the same exit.
