Thousand Trails Snowflower Introduce
Thousand Trails Snowflower, located at 41776 Yuba Gap Dr, Emigrant Gap, CA 95715, USA, stands as a prominent destination within the "Camping Near Me" category, offering a comprehensive RV resort experience in the scenic, high-elevation environment of the Sierra Nevada. With its focus on membership-based camping, Snowflower provides a blend of natural beauty and resort-style amenities, appealing to a wide range of campers, from seasoned RVers to families seeking a comfortable and engaging outdoor adventure. You can reach them at (530) 389-8241 or +1 530-389-8241 for inquiries.
Thousand Trails Snowflower is situated in the high Sierra Nevada mountains, a fact that profoundly shapes its environment and the camping experience. The campground is surrounded by a dense forest, providing a sense of seclusion and natural beauty. The elevation means that even during summer months, temperatures can be surprisingly cool, often dropping into the 30s-50s Fahrenheit, as highlighted by a customer review: "pack winter clothing for the summer, it gets very cold here, even in the summer (30s-50s)!" This cool climate makes it a refreshing escape from the heat of California's lower elevations. While there is a lake on-site, the water temperature is typically too cold for swimming, although it remains "nice to look at!"
The forested setting, while beautiful, comes with its own unique characteristics. One reviewer noted, "the trees are non stop with shredding and weeping sap, which I guess requires a special oil based cleaner to remove... so, next time, I'm definitely staying in the paved lot area." This suggests that campers should be prepared for natural debris, particularly if parking under trees. Despite these natural elements, the overall environment is one of tranquil mountain serenity, offering fresh air and a connection with nature. Campers should also be mindful of the remote location, meaning wildlife encounters are possible, and appropriate food storage is advised.
As a Thousand Trails resort, Snowflower offers a wide array of services and amenities designed to enhance the camping experience, particularly for RVers. The staff is consistently praised for their professionalism and friendliness, with one reviewer stating, "The camping ground was clean and very well ran the service there was friendly and professional they helped me get setup and was there for all my questions being I was new to the RV world they welcomed me with open arms." This indicates a supportive environment, especially for those new to RV camping.
For RVers, the campground typically offers numerous full hookup sites (electric, water, sewer), providing maximum convenience. There are also designated areas for tent camping, and for those seeking a more luxurious experience, cabin rentals are available, offering a "glamping" alternative. The campground is generally described as "well kept" by visitors.
Beyond the individual campsites, Thousand Trails Snowflower provides a variety of communal facilities:
Restrooms and Showers: Clean and well-maintained restroom and shower facilities are available, which is a significant comfort in a camping setting.
Laundry Facilities: On-site laundry facilities add convenience for longer stays.
Swimming Pool and Hot Tub: Despite the cold outdoor temperatures, the heated swimming pool and hot tub are popular amenities, providing a warm oasis for relaxation and recreation.
Recreation Hall: A central recreation hall often hosts events and provides a gathering space, especially useful during cooler weather.
General Store: A small on-site store may offer basic necessities and camping supplies, though it's important to remember the remoteness for more extensive stocking.
Wi-Fi Access: While specific coverage can vary, some Wi-Fi access might be available in designated areas.
Thousand Trails Snowflower offers a range of recreational features designed to keep campers of all ages entertained:
Mini Golf: A mini-golf course provides a fun and casual activity for families and friends.
Fishing: The on-site lake offers fishing opportunities, although the water may be too cold for swimming, it's still a picturesque spot for anglers.
Hiking and Nature Trails: The surrounding forest provides opportunities for leisurely walks and more extensive hikes, allowing campers to explore the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada.
Sports Courts: Facilities for sports like basketball or volleyball may be available.
Playground: A playground ensures younger campers have dedicated space for play.
Planned Activities: During peak season, Thousand Trails resorts often organize planned activities for guests, which can include crafts, games, and social gatherings, fostering a sense of community.
The resort's focus on providing a wide array of activities contributes to its appeal as a family-friendly destination.
Thousand Trails Snowflower operates primarily as a membership resort, meaning access is generally part of a Thousand Trails membership. Non-members may be able to book stays, but it's advisable to check directly with the resort for availability and pricing. The operating season typically spans from spring through fall, though exact dates can vary based on weather and snow conditions. Given its high elevation, early spring and late fall can be very cold, and snow is common during winter months.
A crucial piece of advice from a past visitor highlights the campground's remote nature: "you're really remote from basic needs and Truckee is very very small and very very very crowded so you really need to go to Reno for basics... so stock up before arriving." This underscores the importance of coming prepared with all necessary groceries, supplies, and medications. While Truckee offers some amenities, it can be crowded, and a trip to Reno might be required for more extensive shopping. This remote location, however, is precisely what appeals to many seeking a true escape into the mountains.
Despite the cold temperatures and remote location, reviews consistently praise the well-kept grounds and lovely staff, contributing to a positive overall experience. For those within the "Camping Near Me" search looking for a resort-style RV camping experience with a comprehensive range of amenities in a stunning, high-mountain setting, Thousand Trails Snowflower offers a unique and memorable option, provided visitors come prepared for the unique environmental factors.

Mar 20, 2025 · G.M.S SMITHThe staff was lovely and the campground is well kept. A couple of things to note for your visit:1) pack winter clothing for the summer, it gets very cold here, even in the summer (30s-50s)! It's too cold for swimming but the lake is nice to look at!2) the trees are non stop with shredding and weeping sap, which I guess requires a special oil based cleaner to remove... so, next time, I'm definitely staying in the paved lot area.3) you're really remote from basic needs and Truckee is very very small and very very very crowded so you really need to go to Reno for basics... so stock up before arriving.if you keep this all in mind, you'll have a wonderful trip!!
Aug 23, 2024 · Faye MarshallThe staff are doing their best. They are super friendly. Can’t ask for better Saturday music. The pool is prestige. The bathrooms has the best voyuers, mini frogs. Great job everyone trying to enforce rules.
Aug 21, 2024 · Shawn AitkenThey over book even if you’re a member and have reservations for a spot that fits your trailer. The staff lie and make up accusations to give you citations so you’re forced to leave. We were told that they got calls we were too loud when my one year old was sleeping in the trailer. Our neighboring site said we were never loud. We just wanted a nice relaxing weekend but got nothing but harassment from a certain staff member and the manager. They don’t want you here. They have many spots with no water or electricity and allow tent campers in large spaces for trailers. (Tent campers are only allowed up on the hill). Don’t ever come here! They treat people like trash.
Jun 15, 2024 · Kenzie PinaI was super hopeful my campsite would be nice, as the location is great. But, after dragging my travel trailer up there and searching for hours (on a gravel road, in 4wd), I realized the lack of decent spots (that were available) and amenities was not worth the trouble. I paid for reservations for 3 nights, but was on my own to find an open site. If you value a decent camping experience, try another place. If you are deserapte, I guess this might do. I was not desperate.
