Toodik Family Campground Cabin & Canoeing Introduce
Seeking a 'camping near me' experience that combines riverside access with the option of cabins and canoeing? Toodik Family Campground Cabin & Canoeing, located at 7700 Township Rd 462, Loudonville, OH 44842, USA, offers these features. You can contact them at (419) 994-3835 or +1 419-994-3835 for inquiries and reservations. Based on recent customer feedback, it's important for local users to be aware of certain environmental and accessibility considerations when planning a visit.
The environment at Toodik Family Campground appears to offer a unique experience with secluded campsites situated down by the river. This riverside location could be particularly appealing for those seeking a more private and natural setting within the 'camping near me' category, with the added benefit of potential water activities like canoeing. However, one reviewer noted a significant drawback related to rainy conditions. The campsites are described as grassy with limited gravel on the roads, leading to muddy conditions and potential difficulties in accessing or leaving the sites after rainfall. This is a crucial environmental factor for prospective campers to consider, especially during seasons with higher chances of precipitation. Another environmental concern highlighted is the presence of a significant mosquito population, with one reviewer stating they would "eat you alive." While mosquitoes are common in many outdoor environments, this feedback suggests they may be particularly prevalent at this location. It's advisable for potential visitors to come prepared with insect repellent, especially during warmer months.
The services at Toodik Family Campground include the provision of campsites, with the option of cabin rentals also indicated in the name. The availability of canoeing suggests that boat rentals or access for personal canoes may be offered. However, the reviews provide limited details about other specific services. One concerning point raised by a reviewer is the lack of refunds even when campers need to be pulled out of the mud due to the conditions, implying a potentially rigid cancellation or refund policy. It's advisable for local users considering this campground in their 'camping near me' search to inquire about their policies regarding inclement weather and site accessibility. While the promise of secluded riverside campsites and canoeing is attractive, understanding the potential limitations in wet conditions is essential for a positive experience.
The features of Toodik Family Campground include its location offering "wonderful secluded camp sites down by the river." This suggests a degree of privacy and a connection to the natural waterway, which could be a significant draw for those seeking a more rustic and less crowded camping experience within the 'camping near me' options. The availability of cabins adds another accommodation choice beyond traditional tent or RV camping, potentially appealing to families or those seeking more comfort. The offering of canoeing directly ties into the riverside location, providing an opportunity for recreational water activities. However, the "bumpy, rough road going down the hill" to access these secluded riverside sites is a notable feature that could pose a challenge for some vehicles or individuals with mobility concerns. The potential for a significant mosquito presence is another feature, albeit a negative one, that prospective campers should be aware of and prepared for. While the seclusion and riverside access are positive features, the road conditions and mosquito issue are important factors to consider.

Given the canoeing aspect of the campground, there might be local outfitters or rental shops for canoeing or kayaking gear, although it's unclear if Toodik Family Campground provides its own equipment. Grocery stores in Loudonville will allow you to purchase food and other necessities for your camping trip. It's advisable to research local businesses in Loudonville to ensure you have all the necessary supplies for a comfortable and enjoyable stay, keeping in mind the potential challenges related to rain and mosquitoes.
In conclusion, Toodik Family Campground Cabin & Canoeing offers the allure of secluded riverside campsites, cabin rentals, and canoeing opportunities for those searching for 'camping near me' in the Loudonville, Ohio area. However, it is crucial for local users to be aware of the potential drawbacks highlighted in customer reviews, particularly the issues with muddy conditions after rain and a significant mosquito population. The bumpy and rough road to the riverside campsites is another factor to consider regarding accessibility. While the promise of a secluded natural experience is appealing, prospective campers should be well-prepared for potential environmental challenges and inquire about the campground's policies regarding inclement weather. Contacting the campground directly for the most up-to-date information on services, availability, and any potential promotions is highly recommended before making a reservation.

Toodik Family Campground Cabin & Canoeing Reviews
DO NOT come here if it rains at all, the camp sites are grass and not much gravel on the roads either, if that's not enough for you, the mosquitos will eat you alive, they will tell you that you should be fine even when they should know you will not and no refund after they have to pull you out of the mud with a bobcat, I would rate 0 stars if possible
May 04, 2025 · Laura EdgellWonderful secluded camp sites down by the river if you don’t mind the bumpy, rough road going down the hill.
Jul 14, 2024 · Naomi MillerPerfect camping spot! Steep hill to get down to the RV spots but right on the Mohican River and lots of trees! Events scheduled for family fun, when we went they had an ice cream social - playground, swimming, hiking and much more! Great family camping location
Aug 31, 2018 · Carly SThis is an extremely clean, well maintained, wonderful gem of a campground. There are many signs guiding your way to the camp store/office which has just about anything you would need (and many things you don't but still buy anyway). The owners are very meticulous with sensible rules regarding speed limits and quiet hours to ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone. Most importantly, they made sure these rules were communicated as well as posted in many visible locations to ensure there were no excuses to not be aware. The roads covering this huge property are gravel but very well maintained (just like everything else) and the seasonal campers that we met were all friendly as well. Weekend crafts and activities along with the vast expanse of well-groomed trails kept everyone busy. While the canoe livery is no longer operational due to many trees down along the river (as I was told), a quick 10-minute drive into town offered a plethora of liveries to pick from. All-in-all, we had a peaceful and relaxing weekend and would strongly recommend anyone traveling in the area to choose Toodik Famly Campground over the "parking-lot-style" commercial campgrounds that surround the area if you want a better outdoors camping experience.
Jun 18, 2024 · Luke LaCrosseIn from out of the state... stopped in at the camp ground to say goodbye to friends who were camped. I checked in at the office, told the young man we were only visiting an hour or two. I gave them my plate # and a head count on their check sheet. Then was charged $10 for adults and $4 children. We were there less then 2 hours like I said. I took the high road and did NOT aquire any keep sakes on my way out. The pool was already closed... this was after 7pm. I would understand if we were going to get to use that amenity for the day. If we would have stayed the night with family or friends, they already have rented a spot from you or are you charging campsites by the head. I feel hustled, if manors wouldn't have been compelling me, you wouldn't have received my money. For the reader, for a short visit... my observation was the visitor head count $$ hustle is poorly policed other than what you tell them and there are no check points.
