Based on recent customer reviews, the experience at Mohican Reservation Campgrounds and Canoeing appears to offer both highlights and areas for potential improvement.
Environment and Atmosphere:
One visitor described the campground as "actually beautiful, and mostly clean," indicating an appealing natural setting. This suggests that those looking for a picturesque "camping near me" option might find the environment at Mohican Reservation Campgrounds and Canoeing to their liking. The campground's location in the Mohican area likely contributes to this beauty, offering access to the surrounding natural attractions. Another long-time visitor, who has been coming for over 15 years, considers it the "best one in the area," especially for a "FUN holiday weekend and camping experience." They highlight the presence of "fun activities and common area," suggesting a social and engaging atmosphere, particularly during holiday weekends.
However, another review provided a more critical perspective on certain aspects of the environment and facilities. This guest found the tent sites to be "ok" but noted that the ground was "very rough" and "not level" in their assigned area. They also described the outhouses as "atrocious," specifically mentioning the addition of a toilet seat over wood. This feedback suggests that while the overall setting might be beautiful, some of the basic camping amenities could be improved.

However, the reviews also pointed out some shortcomings in services:
- Outhouses: As mentioned earlier, one guest found the outhouses to be "atrocious."

- Potential for Additional Fees: One guest reported unexpected additional charges based on the number of people per site, despite attempting to pay in full at the time of reservation. This highlights the importance of clarifying all potential costs upfront.
- Unprofessional Owner (Reported): A negative interaction with the owner, including allegations of rudeness and unprofessional behavior, was reported by one guest, which significantly impacted their overall experience.
Promotional Information:
While the provided text doesn't contain explicit promotional offers, the positive experiences shared by the long-time visitor, emphasizing the fun holiday weekends, great livery service, live music, and friendly fellow campers, serve as an implicit endorsement. If you are a local user seeking "camping near me" that offers a blend of natural beauty and engaging activities, particularly canoeing and a social atmosphere during peak times, Mohican Reservation Campgrounds and Canoeing could be appealing. The mention of live music suggests a lively environment that some campers might enjoy. For those primarily interested in river adventures and a potentially festive camping experience, this campground warrants consideration.
However, it is crucial for prospective visitors to be aware of the concerns raised by other reviewers, such as the condition of tent sites and outhouses, the lack of hot water and hand-drying in the bathrooms, and the reported issues with the owner's professionalism and potential for unexpected fees. If basic amenities and a high level of customer service are top priorities, you might want to inquire specifically about the current conditions and policies before making a reservation. For local campers looking for "camping near me" with a focus on river activities and a potentially vibrant social scene, Mohican Reservation Campgrounds and Canoeing presents an option, but with the caveat to consider the mixed feedback regarding its facilities and management.

Mohican Reservation Campgrounds and Canoeing Reviews
First off. Let me start off by the positives. The campground is actually beautiful, and mostly clean. The sites for tents, are ok, ground very rough, not level at least where we were placed. Outhouses were atrocious, I don’t know whose idea it was to add a toilet seat over wood, but whatever. As much as they nickel and dime everything, although nice you would think the bathrooms would have at least warm shower water, there was NO hot water to wash hands and no tissue to dry hands. Now here’s the real issue we had. The owner is a very very very unprofessional and rude C U Next Tuesday, had a nice little run in with her at checkin. Maybe she was having alcohol withdrawals since that’s all she did the entire time was party? When I made my reservation I was asked how many people I would have on my two sites I booked, I said 8 and 4 tents. I said I wanted to pay in FULL over phone. Got the here after thinking we paid for everything and was charged an additional fee for having more than 2 people per site. Then I was referred to as “you people” why the owner because she lacked comprehension and listening. Overall was a good weekend, but won’t be back due to the owners ignorance.
Aug 11, 2024 · Amber FrymanThis is the best campground if you're looking for a FUN holiday weekend and camping experience. I have been coming to this campground for over 15 years and its the best one in the area (after trying a few others). Fun activities and common area. Holiday weekends are the best here. Great livery service, live music and typically other fun and relaxed campers - we end up making new friends each year. It is family friendly, however if you are a strict parent maybe camp in your backyard instead.
May 21, 2024 · Sara OhlerWe will never stay at this campground again. There are multiple campgrounds in the area and this is by far the worst. I recommend anywhere but here for your Mohican River trip. Camp areas are to small but what I found even more disturbing is the staff. The lady working at the check in is extremely rude for absolutely no reason. She has no people skills and needs to remove herself from that position. However I will say the cleaning crew are amazing. They did a wonderful job!
Jul 14, 2024 · Vicki ShasteenNot family friendly. We had 4 sites with 8 adults and 3 kids. The second day of our stay while we were on the river, large groups of motorcycle gangs had arrived on both sides of our sites. The problem wasn't that they were bikers but that they were doing whippets all night long, which if you're not aware is when someone inhales nitrous oxide to get high. And it's loud. This along with grown men urinating out in the open in front of my kids, jumping in and playing in the river in the middle of the night, constant traffic in and out all night, and them walking through our campsites after being asked not to many times. We attempted multiple calls to their after hours line and even walking to their "night staff" trailer and knocking on it and got nothing. The following morning we went to the front desk to report all of this and were met with an incredibly rude woman who treated us like we were in the wrong and said there was nothing they could do about it. They initially refused to refund us our last night as we were leaving a night early but she allowed it because she "didn't want to deal with us anymore".This place is cheaper than others for a reason. No rules enforced. They let whoever in and out all night long and could care less what anyone does on their property as long as they have made a buck.
