The Environment: A Peaceful City Park Setting
Towner City Park Campground is situated within a beautiful and peaceful city park. This setting offers a blend of natural outdoor space with the convenience of being located within town. The park features grassy areas for camping, creating a soft and pleasant ground for setting up your camp. The presence of a splash pad nearby adds a family-friendly element to the park, although the campground itself maintains a tranquil atmosphere, especially in the evenings and during less busy times.
The reviews highlight the quiet and scenic nature of the park, making it an appealing spot for those looking for a relaxing overnight stop. The availability of playground equipment suggests that families with children will find this park particularly attractive. While it's a city park, the campground area seems to offer a sufficient sense of space and nature for a comfortable camping experience.
Services and Amenities: Essential Comforts
Towner City Park Campground provides several essential amenities to make your stay comfortable:
- Restrooms: Conveniently located on the other side of the splash pad are men's and women's restrooms. These are flush toilets with cold water available, as noted in a review. While one review mentioned the cleanliness could be improved, the availability of these facilities is a significant convenience, especially for a free campground.
- Electric Hookups: There are three electric poles, each equipped with two 30 amp and one 15 amp plugins. This allows campers with RVs or other electrical needs to connect. A sign indicates that a freewill donation for the electricity is appreciated. The setup suggests that up to six smaller rigs could potentially share the electric if parked closely.
- Dry Camping: In addition to the spots with electric hookups, there is also room for more dry camping across from the RV spots, accommodating those who do not require or cannot access the electric facilities.
- Playground Equipment: The park features excellent playground equipment, making it a great place for families with children to enjoy some outdoor recreation.
- Splash Pad: While not directly a camping amenity, the presence of a splash pad nearby can be a fun feature, especially during warmer months.
- Grass Campsites: The camping spots are on grass, offering a softer surface compared to gravel or pavement.
It's important to note that showers are not available at Towner City Park Campground, so campers planning to stay longer may need to consider this. However, for a free city campground, the provided amenities are quite valuable.
Features and Appeal: Free and Peaceful
The most notable feature of Towner City Park Campground is that it is a "great free city campground." This makes it an exceptionally budget-friendly option for travelers. The freewill donation for electricity allows those who use it to contribute if they wish, while those who don't rely on electricity can camp at no cost.
The peaceful atmosphere of the park is another significant draw. Reviews mention the tranquility and beauty of the location, making it a pleasant place to relax and unwind. Even when others are present, the overall ambiance seems to be calm and enjoyable.
The combination of free camping, electric hookups (with a donation system), restrooms, and the amenities of the city park, such as the playground and splash pad, makes Towner City Park Campground a convenient and attractive option for various types of campers, from those in RVs needing electric to tent campers looking for a safe and peaceful overnight stop.

Towner City Park Campground Reviews
Great free city campground. Men's and women's restrooms on the other side of the splash pad. No showers. 3 electric poles each with two 30 amp and one 15amp plugins. There is a sign for a freewill donation for the electricity. Spots are grass. Looks like room for maybe up to 6 smaller rigs to share electric if parked close. There is also room for more dry camping across from the RV spots. We arrived on a Sunday evening in July and were the only ones there.
Jul 24, 2022 · Bob JohnsonPeaceful, beautiful park. A few nice campsites excellent playground equipment. Flush toilets and cold water in bathroom available. Bathrooms could have been cleaner, but for free who can complain?
Sep 30, 2023 · Bryan StewartIt is super nice and clean in a very quiet historic farming town. Must stat a night if your in this area. Has a grocery store and two bars in town for you too. And a nice place to get coffee too. Drive up or sit out side to.
Dec 15, 2024 · ThomasA fun splash pad for the littles plus picnic tables and playground when you don't want to be wet. When we went, it was hot and the playground is in the shade, which was lovely! The women's bathroom wasn't very clean, but to be fair the signs inside said to keep it clean as a community, and it only takes a couple people with muddy shoes to make the floor look bad. It is a changing area for the splash pad as well!
