Wildlife Woods Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking a "camping near me" experience that offers something a little different from the standard campground, Wildlife Woods Campground, located at 4582 Beaver Blvd #4582, Sherrills Ford, NC 28673, USA, presents an "interesting" option. While it may not be the "run of the mill campground," as one reviewer notes, it offers a calm and enjoyable environment with some appealing features, particularly for those prioritizing a relaxed atmosphere and pet-friendly amenities.
The environment at Wildlife Woods Campground is described as calm and enjoyable, situated in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, likely benefiting from its proximity to natural surroundings, potentially wooded areas, given its name. The presence of a pool suggests opportunities for recreation and cooling off during warmer months. The campground also features a boat ramp, indicating access to a body of water, presumably Lake Norman, which is a significant feature of the Sherrills Ford area. However, it's important to note the specific feedback regarding the waterfront. The water in the cove is described as extremely shallow, barely suitable for pontoons or jet skis, and containing "lots of ick and trees and algae" near the shore. Further out, about 50 feet from shore, the water quality may improve. The docks are described as "raggedy" and covered in goose droppings, which might be a consideration for those planning to spend significant time by the water. On a more positive note, the campground is located in a no-wake cove, suggesting still and peaceful waters, which might be appealing for activities like kayaking or paddleboarding further from the shore, if accessible. For dog owners, the campground is noted as a "nice campground to walk the dogs around," indicating pet-friendly grounds with space for leisurely strolls. It's worth noting that short-term campsites are located in different areas, with those near the pool being described as "very nice" and shaded, while others not on the same road as the pool are in the "baking sun, on a hill." This suggests variability in site conditions depending on location within the campground. Overall, the environment offers a mix of calm natural surroundings, a pool for recreation, and lake access with some caveats regarding the waterfront conditions and campsite shade.
Wildlife Woods Campground offers a range of services to accommodate its guests. The presence of short-term campsites indicates that it caters to overnight or weekend visitors, in addition to a significant number of "mostly permanent camp spots." The availability of "very nice" short-term spots close to the pool is a notable service for those seeking a convenient location with easy access to this amenity. The mention of a boat ramp, while accompanied by details about the shallow water, still provides a means for launching watercraft. The friendly staff is a recurring positive point in the reviews, with one long-term camper of 15+ years specifically mentioning their friendliness. While not explicitly detailed, it can be assumed that basic campground services such as water and electrical hookups are available at the campsites. The office, though described as being "straight out of 1985," is functional and "does the job," implying it provides necessary check-in and information services. The presence of mostly permanent campers suggests a sense of community, although one reviewer noted that some of these sites are "in need of sprucing up." The reasonable prices mentioned by a long-term camper indicate that the campground offers potentially budget-friendly options for "camping near me." While luxury amenities may be lacking, the basic services and friendly staff contribute to a functional camping experience.
The features of Wildlife Woods Campground are somewhat mixed, as indicated by the customer reviews. A key positive feature is the calm and enjoyable atmosphere, appealing to those seeking a relaxed getaway. The presence of a "nice" pool offers a recreational amenity for all guests, particularly those in the well-located short-term sites. The pet-friendly nature of the campground, with ample space for walking dogs, is a significant feature for pet owners looking for "camping near me." The long-term presence of many campers suggests a stable and perhaps close-knit community. The reasonable prices mentioned by a long-term guest could be considered a positive feature for budget-conscious travelers. However, there are also notable drawbacks. The waterfront access is limited by shallow, algae-filled water and raggedy docks, which may deter those primarily interested in swimming or boating. The variability in campsite quality, with some short-term sites being sunny and on a hill, is another feature to consider. The dated office might not appeal to those expecting modern facilities. The mix of well-kept and less maintained permanent sites contributes to the "interesting" and not "run of the mill" character of the campground. Ultimately, the features of Wildlife Woods Campground suggest a more rustic and community-oriented experience, with some appealing amenities but also some limitations to be aware of.
Currently, no specific promotional information or discounts are mentioned in the provided reviews. For local users interested in considering Wildlife Woods Campground for their "camping near me" needs, the best approach would be to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers: (704) 483-5611 or +1 704-483-5611. When calling, you can inquire about current rates, availability of short-term sites (and specifically request sites near the pool if that is a preference), and any potential special offers for local residents or for specific periods. It would also be wise to ask for more detailed information about the waterfront conditions and any specific rules or regulations regarding pet stays. Speaking directly with the staff will allow you to get the most up-to-date information and assess whether the features and environment of Wildlife Woods Campground align with your expectations for a local camping experience.
In conclusion, Wildlife Woods Campground in Sherrills Ford, NC, offers a unique "camping near me" experience that may appeal to those seeking a calm and pet-friendly environment with a pool and lake access, albeit with some limitations regarding the waterfront. The friendly staff and reasonable prices are positive aspects, particularly noted by long-term campers. However, potential visitors should be aware of the mix of campsite qualities and the condition of the lake access. For locals looking for a non-traditional campground with a relaxed atmosphere, Wildlife Woods Campground is worth considering, but it is recommended to contact them directly to gather more information and ensure it meets your specific needs and preferences for a "camping near me" getaway.

Wildlife Woods Campground Reviews
This place is...interesting. It was calm and enjoyable but not the run of the mill campground. Mostly permanent camp spots here. The short term spots close to the pool were very nice. The pool was nice. The short term spots not on the same road as the pool were in the baking sun, on a hill. The boat ramp exists. There are raggedy docks covered in goose droppings. Extremely shallow water barely suitable for a pontoon or jet ski. But if you don't need luxury docks or want to put your body in the water, then I guess it works. It is in a no-wake cove, so still water. Lots of ick and trees and algae in the water until about 50 feet out from shore. Nice campground to walk the dogs around, though. The office is straight out of 1985, but it does the job. I would pick a different campground over this one, in the future, but I wouldn't say I would refuse to come back.
Sep 01, 2024 · Brittany WillisWe've been camping here for 15+ years. The staff is very friendly. Yes there are permanent campers that are in need of sprucing up and their lots could use some attention but most are well kept. Prices are reasonable and it is an older establishment.
May 24, 2024 · Lisa KnightThis place is definitely WILD. Three people work the front end and dependant on the day determines who helps you.I use the term help very loosely. They seem to make the rules up as they go and are the rudest people I ever came across. It's a darn shame because this place has so much potential but it's being ruined by the 3 dictators with free range to act as they please. Ownership really needs to review the cameras and audio and listen and watch how their profits are being ran off and treated like dirt. I would not recommend this camp ground in its current state under its current management.
Jan 16, 2024 · frank PlumberLoved staying here for the weekend. Cheap but great at the same time. Camp site was perfect size for our camper and truck and came with a picnic table and firepit. Pool was super clean. Also all the permanent residents are very friendly and welcoming!
Jul 23, 2023 · Marissa OrtizDrove 3 hours to show some friends where we used to stay. The lady was very rude. There is no reason for the rudeness. They haven’t updated anything since we were there in 2 years. Wouldn’t even let us walk to the gate and look at anything. The other parks around have nice staff if your looking for a place. Don’t let this place discourage you.
