Cross Country Campgrounds Introduce
For local residents in search of "camping near me," Cross Country Campgrounds, located at 6254 NC-150 E, Denver, NC 28037, USA, presents itself as a conveniently situated option. You can contact them at (704) 483-5897 or +1 704-483-5897 for inquiries and reservations. This campground has garnered attention from campers over the years, as reflected in the available customer reviews, which offer a mixed perspective on the current state of the facility.
One long-term camper, who has visited for approximately 40 years, expresses significant concerns about the campground's recent decline. Their review points to a deterioration in the quality of the bathhouses, noting that only one shower was functional in the ladies' back bathhouse and that cleaning standards have reportedly decreased. Additionally, this reviewer highlights the growing issue of potholes on the campground roads. A significant point of contention is the current management, which is described as the "worst it has been" in their four decades of visiting. This reviewer suggests that resources are being allocated towards personal recreational vehicles for the management rather than addressing necessary campground upkeep. The increasing traffic on the way to the campground is also mentioned as a negative factor.
In contrast, another recent visitor offers a more positive assessment, describing Cross Country Campgrounds as the "best campground/RV park in the area." They praise its fair pricing and comfortable atmosphere, noting the ease of access to amenities and good accommodations. This reviewer specifically appreciated the key card entry system for vehicles and the enforcement of speed limits within the campground, contributing to a sense of safety. They also mentioned the cleanliness of the park and the pride taken in its upkeep. Notably, their 40-foot fifth wheel, along with a truck and a small car, fit comfortably in their designated space. The proximity to a laundromat, gas station, and various restaurants within a 10-minute drive was also seen as a significant advantage. While their stay was during the winter months, limiting outdoor activities, they expressed a belief that the campground would be a desirable destination during the summer. Their only reservation was regarding the heavy traffic on NC-150, a factor outside the campground's control. This reviewer concluded by expressing a hope to stay at Cross Country Campgrounds again in the future.
Considering these contrasting viewpoints, local users searching for "camping near me" should weigh the provided feedback carefully. The positive review highlights aspects such as fair pricing, comfortable accommodations, security measures like key card entry, cleanliness, and convenient access to nearby services and dining options. The spaciousness of the RV sites, capable of accommodating large vehicles, is also a notable feature for RV owners.
However, the concerns raised by the long-term camper regarding the declining condition of the bathhouses, the state of the roads, and the management's priorities should not be overlooked. These issues could potentially impact the overall camping experience, particularly concerning hygiene and infrastructure. The external factor of heavy traffic on NC-150, while not the campground's fault, is also a point to consider for accessibility and travel time, as mentioned by both reviewers.
Based on the available information, Cross Country Campgrounds offers a conveniently located option for local camping in Denver, NC. It appears to provide essential amenities and a welcoming environment for some visitors, particularly those with RVs. The proximity to local conveniences is also a plus. However, potential visitors should be aware of the reported issues concerning the upkeep of facilities and the management's focus, as these aspects have been raised by a long-term patron. It would be prudent for prospective campers to inquire about the current condition of the bathhouses and other facilities when making a reservation to ensure they meet their expectations. As no specific promotional information is available in the provided text, local users are encouraged to contact Cross Country Campgrounds directly for any current offers or discounts.
In conclusion, Cross Country Campgrounds presents a mixed picture for those seeking "camping near me." While it offers some appealing features like fair pricing, spacious sites, and convenient location, potential campers should be mindful of the reported issues with the facilities and management to make an informed decision about their camping experience.

Cross Country Campgrounds Reviews
We have camped there for about 40 years. The bath houses have gone way downhill. Only 1 shower works in the back bathhouse on the ladies side, they are not cleaned like they used to be. The pot holes keep getting bigger in the roads. The management is the worst it has been in the 40 years we were there. The traffic to get there is terrible too. This campground used to be fun and nice, but when the management buys side by sides instead of fixing up the campground then my rent money doesn’t need to go to make sure the manager has a party vehicle.
Apr 30, 2025 · Lisa SchaefferBest campground/RV park in the area. Fair priced and very comfortable. Everything is easy access with good accommodations. We’d used the pool rec. room to hold a few church services, and felt very welcomed by the camp staff for our church family. I love the key cards to enter the camp in a vehicle and everyone minding the speed limits. My baby son loved the park. It’s a very clean park that they take pride in. Our 40’ fifth wheel fit great with a truck and small car for parking. It’s very close to a laundromat and gas station. Plus a lot of awesome restaurants within 10 minutes. We were here in winter so not much outside activities but I can tell in summer this would be the place to be. My only complaint and it’s not the parks fault is the crazy drivers on 150. The road gets very very busy certain times of day. If I ever return I would hope to stay at CCC again. Thanks for having us.
Mar 01, 2025 · Leonard PickettThis the biggest campground I've ever seen! I stayed at the back of the grounds and it was nice and peaceful. The neighbors are very friendly which I appreciate. The office is the issue. They charge a deposit for the long time stays. At the end, I was told that it would be applied toward my electric bill. I was there 1 month and I ran air conditioning 3 or 4 nights. There is no way, I ran up a $250 electric bill. I called the office for receipts and never received them. I had to dispute this amount with my credit card company to get it refunded.
Nov 07, 2024 · Billie McShaneGreat place to stay for a quick couple of days. Looks like pretty long term campers here. But good spot, great rate for FH. Would come back again. Office personnel very very nice
