Willard Bay South Marina Campground Introduce
For local residents of Utah, particularly those in the vicinity of Willard (zip code 84340) and the surrounding areas, who are searching for "camping near me" with access to Willard Bay, the Willard Bay South Marina Campground, located on an Unnamed Road in Willard, presents a lakeside camping option. Situated near the marina, this campground caters to both RV and tent campers. However, recent customer reviews provide a mixed perspective on the overall experience, highlighting both potential benefits and significant drawbacks that local users should carefully consider.
The environment of Willard Bay South Marina Campground is undoubtedly a key draw, offering proximity to Willard Bay, a large freshwater reservoir known for boating, fishing, and other water-based recreational activities. The presence of trees within the campground, as noted by a reviewer, offers welcome shade, particularly during the hot Utah summers. This natural element can enhance the camping experience for local users seeking respite from the sun. The campground appears to have designated areas for RV camping, and the reviewer also mentioned setting up tents in the RV area, suggesting flexibility in accommodating different types of camping setups. The potential for wildlife encounters, such as the mentioned Potato Beetle, might appeal to nature enthusiasts.
However, the environment also has notable downsides, according to recent reviews. The prevalence of mosquitoes is a significant concern, with one reviewer stating "So many mosquitos!" This could detract significantly from the outdoor experience, especially during dawn and dusk. Additionally, the terrain within the campsites, described as having "branches practically covered the ground," might pose challenges for setting up tents and navigating the area. The access to the water, while available, seems to be somewhat inconvenient. Reviewers noted that it required a "bit of a walk up to the wall and then down over the rocks," making it more difficult for families with children or those carrying equipment like kayaks or paddleboards. Local users planning to frequently access the bay for water activities should be aware of this potentially challenging access point.
In terms of services, Willard Bay South Marina Campground appears to offer standard campground amenities, including sewer hookups for RVs and potentially water and electrical hookups, although these are not explicitly detailed. One reviewer mentioned that the painted yellow lines for sewer hookups were "nice but not everyone’s sewer hookup is the same," indicating a potential issue with the standardization and placement of these connections, which could be problematic for some RV users. The presence of sprinklers that come on daily and "got water everywhere and got up under the canopies" is another service-related issue that local campers should be aware of, as it could lead to wet gear and discomfort.
The most concerning aspect of the services, based on the reviews, is the cleanliness of the bathroom and shower facilities. One reviewer described them as "dirty" and the showers as "DISGUSTING!!!" further stating that "They look like they haven’t been cleaned in months." This level of dissatisfaction with hygiene facilities is a significant deterrent for many campers, and local users considering this campground should be prepared for potentially unsanitary conditions. The reviewer also reiterated that "Bugs were bad just like all the other reviews said they were," suggesting that the mosquito problem might be part of a broader issue with insects within the campground.
The features of Willard Bay South Marina Campground are somewhat limited based on the provided reviews. The proximity to Willard Bay is a primary feature, offering access to the reservoir for various recreational activities, albeit with potentially challenging access. The shade provided by the trees within the campsites is another positive feature. However, the negative aspects, such as the abundance of mosquitoes, the cluttered ground with branches, and the dirty bathroom facilities, significantly detract from the overall appeal. The fact that the campground accommodates both RVs and tents offers flexibility for different types of local campers.
There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts for residents, seasonal rates, or any special offers should contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (435) 734-9494 or +1 435-734-9494. It would be prudent to inquire about the current conditions of the bathroom and shower facilities and any measures being taken to address the mosquito and bug issues mentioned in the reviews. Asking about specific campsite amenities and the ease of access to Willard Bay for different types of recreational equipment would also be beneficial.
In conclusion, Willard Bay South Marina Campground offers a "camping near me" option with the significant advantage of proximity to Willard Bay. The shade from the trees is a welcome environmental benefit. However, local users must be aware of the considerable drawbacks highlighted in recent reviews, including a severe mosquito problem, cluttered campsites, inconvenient access to the water, and alarmingly dirty bathroom and shower facilities. These negative aspects could significantly impact the camping experience. Potential visitors should weigh the convenience of the location against the reported issues and consider contacting the campground directly for the most up-to-date information on conditions and any improvements that may have been made. Given the strong negative feedback regarding cleanliness and insects, local campers might want to explore other "camping near me" options around Willard Bay or in the surrounding area before making a reservation at the South Marina Campground.

Willard Bay South Marina Campground Reviews
So many mosquitos! Campsites were. We were in the RV area but had 4 tents set up, too. Branches practically covered the ground. But with that, it was nice to have those trees for shades. To get to the water, it was a bit of a walk up to the wall and then down over the rocks. Made more difficult with kids or kayaks or paddle boards. Also found a Potato Beetle which was cool.
Aug 14, 2022 · John BurgoyneThe yellow lines they painted are nice but not everyone’s sewer hookup is the same. Good thing we had 3 spots and were able to encroach into the next spot. The sprinklers come on everyday and got water everywhere and got up under the canopies. The bathrooms were dirty and the showers were DISGUSTING!!! They look like they haven’t been cleaned in months Bugs were bad just like all the other reviews said they were
Sep 02, 2024 · Tristen AllredNot sure why they had a camp host, never saw them once in the campground from Friday-Monday. Not once did they clean restrooms and the showers looked liked they hadn't been cleaned in months as there is garbage everywhere, I didn't even dare go inside. The water came on drenching nearby campers and was on wasting water for at least an hour each spot daily, and the tents had to be moved to the pavement. We literally had to clean the tables before we could use them,we sprayed and washed them down, had to clean up branches and luckily my brother had his leaf blower. The spots aren't properly marked and our trailer in order to hook up to water, sewer, and electrical had to be in my brother's spot. Worst state park we've ever stayed at. The bugs were ridiculous and we've tried everything we had. They should be paying us to stay here and clean what we had to in order to make it somewhat enjoyable. Will not be staying here again!!!
Sep 02, 2024 · Megan AllredWe.lovr camping here, except the restrooms are always dirty and full of trash. The tables are full of spider webs as if they're never cleaned, and they also had the sprinklers on for over an hour.Other than that, there are big beauties trees, lots of space for the kids to play and it's close to he water for boats.
