Cottonwood Campground

Cottonwood Campground Rd, Willard, UT 84340, USA

I really wanted to give this place a higher rating. It's right on Eagle Beach and the sites are nice. However we wanted to camp several days only to find it was $30 a night for dry camping. $40 dollars for full hook up. That's a decent price for full hook up, but the dry camping option was way too expensive in my book so we only stayed for one night. I could have given it 3 or 4 stars but the power outlet up was installed incorrectly (upside down) as such I had to bungy my surge-protector to the pole to make it work. I checked out another empty space and same problem. Not cool. Also, very buggy. Not sure it was worth the "savings" over another traditional RV park. - Jesse Carwin

Are you searching for the perfect "camping near me" in Utah? Look no further than Cottonwood Campground, nestled in the picturesque landscape of Willard, Utah. Located at Cottonwood Campground Rd, Willard, UT 84340, USA, this campground offers a unique camping experience with its proximity to Eagle Beach and a range of amenities to suit various camping preferences. Whether you're an RV enthusiast or a tent camper, Cottonwood Campground presents an opportunity to immerse yourself in nature while enjoying convenient access to local attractions.

For local users seeking a quick escape to the outdoors, Cottonwood Campground provides a convenient and accessible option. Situated near Willard, it's a short drive from many urban areas in Utah, making it an ideal destination for weekend getaways or longer camping vacations. The "camping near me" platform category highlights campgrounds like Cottonwood that offer localized outdoor experiences, connecting users with nearby natural havens. Cottonwood Campground aims to be a top choice within this category by providing a blend of natural beauty and essential services.

Based on feedback from fellow campers, the environment at Cottonwood Campground is a significant draw. Its location right on Eagle Beach offers stunning views and easy access to the sandy shores. Imagine waking up to the gentle sounds of the nearby water and spending your day swimming, sunbathing, or simply relaxing by the beach. This proximity to the water enhances the overall camping experience, providing a refreshing and scenic backdrop for your stay. However, it's worth noting, as mentioned by a reviewer, that being close to water may also mean encountering some insects, so it's advisable to come prepared with appropriate bug repellent.

In terms of services and amenities, Cottonwood Campground offers both dry camping and full hook-up options. For those with recreational vehicles, full hook-up sites provide the convenience of water, electricity, and sewer connections. According to a review, the price for full hook-up was $40 per night, which is considered reasonable by some. However, dry camping, which typically includes a parking space without utility connections, was priced at $30 per night according to one camper, who felt this was too expensive. It's recommended to confirm the current pricing and availability of different site types when making your reservation.

One specific issue raised by a reviewer concerned the installation of power outlets at some sites, which were reported to be upside down, requiring a workaround for surge protector usage. While this seems to be an isolated issue affecting certain spots, it's something to be aware of. It might be prudent to check the condition of your assigned site upon arrival. Another point to consider for RV campers is that the power supply is reportedly 30 amp. If your RV requires higher amperage, this might be a limitation to factor into your planning.

For tent campers, Cottonwood Campground offers a more rustic experience while still providing access to the natural beauty of the area. The sound of road noise was mentioned by one reviewer as potentially noticeable for those staying in tents, although it wasn't an issue for RV occupants with their air conditioning running. If you are sensitive to noise, it might be beneficial to inquire about site locations that are further away from the road when booking.

Despite some of the mentioned drawbacks, many visitors have had positive experiences at Cottonwood Campground and plan to return. One reviewer mentioned this was their fifth stay, indicating a level of satisfaction and loyalty. The appeal of being right on Eagle Beach and the overall location seem to outweigh some of the minor inconveniences for many campers.

To further enhance your camping experience at Cottonwood Campground, consider bringing essentials such as insect repellent, especially during warmer months. If you plan on utilizing the electrical hook-ups, it might be wise to carry a surge protector and be prepared for a 30-amp service if you are in an RV. For tent campers, earplugs might be useful if road noise is a concern.

Cottonwood Campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. Willard Bay State Park, known for its boating, fishing, and wildlife viewing opportunities, is likely nearby. The town of Willard offers basic amenities and local charm. Being situated in northern Utah, the campground provides access to a variety of outdoor activities, from hiking and biking to exploring the Great Salt Lake. Local users will appreciate the proximity to these recreational options, making Cottonwood Campground a versatile choice for different types of outdoor adventures.

In summary, Cottonwood Campground offers a unique camping experience with its prime location on Eagle Beach. While some reviewers have pointed out areas for potential improvement, such as the pricing for dry camping and the electrical outlet installations at certain sites, the overall appeal of the location and the availability of both dry camping and full hook-up options make it a viable choice for many. The campground's proximity to water and its accessibility for local users seeking "camping near me" are significant advantages. As with any outdoor accommodation, it's recommended to be prepared for varying environmental conditions, including potential insects and road noise depending on your campsite.
