So we just recently stayed here (June 23-June 24 2024) and this is what you need to know. It's a very nice campground. It is smaller than your average campground and all the campsites can probably fit just 1-2 tents comfortably and they are kind of small. Only some sites allow for a trailer. All the campsites are pretty close to each other, some closer than others. Sites I would recommend are 4, 11, 17, 18, 19. These all have good shade and 17-19 are right by a creek which is fun! We stayed at 19 and it was AWESOME. Bugs aren't too bad here. The bathrooms are pretty clean with flushable toilets, but I would bring your own toilet paper if you want to (they have 1-ply and it's super thin).Check in - 3:00 and Check out - 12:00When making your payment, pay close attention to the white paper on the bulletin board and read the instructions (camp hosts are strict here, they do a sweep at night to crack down on stuff). To have more than one vehicle you pay a $20 fee for the second car.If you are making a reservation, triple check that the dates work for everyone in your party because the cancellation/reservation change policy is ridiculous. $10 fee to change any reservation and you will only receive a partial refund if you cancel your reservation. Does not matter how in advance you do it.Overall, great campground, close to Logan or Brigham City (in case you need anymore supplies) and we had cell service the whole time but also feels like you are in the great outdoors far from town. - Brandon Andersen

Box Elder Campground Introduce

For local users seeking a pleasant "camping near me" experience in the Mantua, Utah area, Box Elder Campground, located on US-91, Mantua, UT 84324, USA, offers a charming, albeit smaller, option for getting into the great outdoors. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground provides a generally positive experience with notable features such as a pretty, wooded environment and clean facilities, while also having some specific policies that potential campers should be aware of.

The environment of Box Elder Campground is frequently praised by visitors. It's described as "very nice" and "pretty" with "lots of trees," suggesting a well-shaded and aesthetically pleasing setting. The abundance of trees also contributes to the privacy of many campsites, as one reviewer noted that "most sites are pretty private with the tree cover." For those who appreciate a more secluded feel while camping, this can be a significant advantage. Furthermore, certain campsites, specifically numbers 17, 18, and 19, are located "right by a creek which is fun!" The sound and proximity of a creek can greatly enhance the camping ambiance and provide opportunities for gentle exploration.

However, it's important to note that Box Elder Campground is "smaller than your average campground," and most campsites are designed to comfortably fit only "1-2 tents" and are "kind of small." While some sites can accommodate a trailer, this is not the case for all of them, so it's crucial to inquire about site suitability when making a reservation if you plan to bring a trailer. Additionally, the campsites are "pretty close to each other, some closer than others," which might reduce the sense of seclusion for some campers, except for those benefiting from the tree cover.

In terms of services and facilities, Box Elder Campground offers "pretty clean" bathrooms with "flushable toilets," which is a significant convenience. However, one reviewer recommends bringing your own toilet paper, noting that the provided supply is "1-ply and it's super thin." While this is a minor detail, it's a practical tip for enhancing comfort. The campground host, Stevie, is mentioned in one review as being "friendly and kept the bathrooms very clean," indicating that the management is attentive to hygiene.

There are specific policies and procedures that campers need to be aware of. Check-in time is at 3:00 PM, and check-out is at 12:00 PM. When making payments, campers are advised to "pay close attention to the white paper on the bulletin board and read the instructions," as the "camp hosts are strict here" and conduct nightly sweeps to enforce rules. This suggests that while the campground is pleasant, adherence to the guidelines is expected.

For those traveling with more than one vehicle, there is an additional fee of "$20 for the second car." This is an important cost to consider when planning your trip, especially for groups arriving in multiple vehicles. The campground also has a stringent cancellation and reservation change policy. There is a "$10 fee to change any reservation," and cancellations result in only a "partial refund," regardless of how far in advance the cancellation is made. Therefore, it is crucial to "triple check that the dates work for everyone in your party" before making a reservation.

Despite these policies, the overall sentiment from the reviews is positive. One reviewer stated, "Overall, great campground," highlighting its convenient location, being "close to Logan or Brigham City (in case you need anymore supplies)." This proximity to larger towns offers the benefit of easy access to amenities while still providing a feeling of being "in the great outdoors far from town." Notably, the reviewer also mentioned having "cell service the whole time," which can be a plus for those who need to stay connected.

Another local user expressed their fondness for the campground, stating, "I love this little campground. Very pretty, lots of trees and most sites are pretty private with the tree cover." They also appreciate its proximity to home, making it a convenient "go to close to home when I don't feel like driving 2 hours to the higher areas especially with current gas prices." This suggests that Box Elder Campground is a popular choice for local residents seeking a quick and accessible nature escape.

In summary, Box Elder Campground offers a charming and well-maintained camping experience near Mantua, Utah. Its environment is characterized by pretty scenery, abundant trees providing good shade and some privacy, and the delightful presence of a creek near certain campsites (17-19). The bathrooms are clean and equipped with flushable toilets, although bringing extra toilet paper is recommended. The campground's smaller size means campsites are best suited for 1-2 tents, and trailer suitability varies by site. While the proximity of sites to each other might reduce privacy in some areas, the tree cover helps to mitigate this. Campers should be aware of the strict policies regarding check-in/check-out, payment instructions, extra vehicle fees ($20), and the restrictive cancellation/reservation change policy ($10 fee for changes, partial refund for cancellations regardless of notice). Despite these regulations, the campground's convenient location near Logan and Brigham City, good cell service, and overall pleasant atmosphere, as attested by positive reviews from local users, make it a worthwhile option for those seeking "camping near me" for a shorter getaway.

There is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts or special offers should contact the campground directly at (385) 273-1100 or +1 385-273-1100 to inquire about current rates and any available promotions. Given its positive attributes and local appeal, especially for weekend getaways, it is advisable to make reservations in advance, particularly during peak camping season.
