Camp Cumorah Introduce
For local Utah residents and organizations seeking a versatile "camping near me" destination that can accommodate large groups and offers exciting adventure activities, Camp Cumorah, located on an Unnamed Road in Mantua, UT 84324, USA, presents a compelling option. Within the "camping near me" platform category, Camp Cumorah stands out for its capacity to host events like youth conferences and its array of recreational features, all set within a beautiful natural environment. However, potential visitors should be aware of some conditional factors, particularly concerning early-season visits and road access, as highlighted in customer reviews.
The environment surrounding Camp Cumorah is consistently praised for its natural beauty. One reviewer exclaims, "Such beautiful country!" and another describes it as "Super pretty!" This suggests a scenic location, likely nestled within the mountainous terrain near Mantua, offering picturesque views and a refreshing outdoor atmosphere. The presence of a "big meadow" indicates open spaces suitable for various outdoor games and activities requiring ample room, making it ideal for group events and family fun. The mention of "clean forest air" further enhances the appeal of the natural setting, promising a healthy and invigorating environment for campers.
In terms of services and facilities, Camp Cumorah appears well-equipped for group gatherings. It boasts "nice pavilions and picnic tables," providing covered areas for meals, meetings, and social activities. The inclusion of "kitchen and serving areas" suggests the capability to prepare and serve food for larger groups, which is particularly beneficial for events like youth conferences or family reunions. One reviewer also noted "clean bathrooms," which is a significant amenity for any campground, ensuring a more comfortable and hygienic stay for visitors.
A significant feature of Camp Cumorah is its impressive range of recreational activities. The campground offers a "great challenge course and zip line," providing thrilling and engaging experiences for participants of all ages. These adventure elements make Camp Cumorah particularly attractive for youth groups, team-building events, and families seeking active outdoor recreation. Another mentioned feature is a "rope swing," adding to the opportunities for fun and adventure. The presence of "trails" suggests possibilities for hiking and exploring the surrounding natural beauty, catering to those who enjoy walking and immersing themselves in the outdoors.
However, potential visitors should be aware of some conditional cons, particularly if planning a trip early in the season (around the first week of June, especially in a year with heavy snowfall). One reviewer who visited during this time noted that "the water hadn't been turned on and tested for drinkability yet because of the late snow melt." This is a critical consideration, as campers might need to bring their own water or confirm the availability and potability of the water source if traveling early in the season. Additionally, the same reviewer mentioned that "so much of the area hadn't been cleaned up and cleared from the winter yet, because of the snow melt." This suggests that early-season visitors might encounter some lingering effects of winter, such as debris or areas still recovering from snow. It's important to note that this is likely not an issue later in the season.
Another early-season consideration is the weather. The reviewer cautioned that "if you're going early in the season, then expect cold weather at night and afternoon thunderstorms." This highlights the importance of checking the forecast and being prepared for potentially variable weather conditions, including cooler temperatures and the possibility of rain and thunderstorms. Packing appropriate clothing and gear is essential for a comfortable and safe experience during these times.
A consistent concern raised by both reviewers is the condition of the access road. One described "the dirt road heading up there can be quite bumpy with a lot of divets in the road," advising that "lower clearance cars can make it, but they'll just need to go more slowly." The other reviewer stated that "the road to get there is risky without a four wheel drive vehicle," although they also mentioned being able to make it in a minivan. This suggests that while the road might be passable for various vehicles, it is likely unpaved and potentially challenging, especially for vehicles with low ground clearance. Drivers should exercise caution and be prepared for a bumpy ride.
Despite these conditional drawbacks, the overall sentiment towards Camp Cumorah is positive, with one reviewer calling it an "awesome camping spot!" and "Great family friendly place to stay." The combination of beautiful scenery, clean facilities (at least later in the season), and exciting adventure activities like the challenge course, zip line, and rope swing makes it an attractive destination for a variety of groups and individuals.
There is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews, such as discounts or special offers. However, the inherent appeal of a campground that can accommodate large groups, offers adventure activities, and is set in a beautiful location could be considered its primary draw. Local churches, youth organizations, and families looking for a unique and engaging outdoor experience might find Camp Cumorah particularly appealing.
Local users searching for "camping near me" that offers more than just basic campsites will appreciate the unique features of Camp Cumorah, such as the challenge course and zip line. The ability to host large groups makes it an excellent choice for organized events. However, it is crucial to consider the potential early-season conditions and the nature of the access road when planning a visit. Checking with the campground directly or with recent visitors for the most up-to-date information on water availability, site conditions, and road accessibility is highly recommended, especially if traveling early in the camping season or with a vehicle that has low ground clearance.
In conclusion, Camp Cumorah near Mantua, Utah, offers a scenic and adventure-filled camping experience, particularly well-suited for group events and families seeking outdoor recreation. Its beautiful environment, coupled with facilities like pavilions, picnic tables, a kitchen area, clean bathrooms (reportedly), a challenge course, zip line, rope swing, and trails, make it a unique destination within the "camping near me" category. However, potential visitors should be aware of potential early-season limitations related to water and cleanup, as well as the reportedly bumpy and potentially challenging access road. By considering these factors and preparing accordingly, local users can enjoy the "awesome" camping experience that Camp Cumorah appears to offer.

Camp Cumorah Reviews
We went up for a church youth conference with about 200 people, and it was a great size. We unfortunately had some problems only because we were scheduled so early in the season (first week of June in a year where utah got record snow).Cons (conditional):-The water hadn't been turned on and tested for drinkabilty yet because of the late snow melt-So much of the area hadn't been cleaned up and cleared from the winter yet, because of the snow melt. This is probably not a problem a little later in the season.- If you're going early in the season, then expect cold weather at night and afternoon thunderstorms- the dirt road heading up there can be quite bumpy with a lot of divets in the road. Lower clearance cars can make it, but they'll just need to go more slowly.Pros:- Nice pavilions and picnic tables, and kitchen and serving areas-Such beautiful country!- Great challenge course and zip line- The big meadow was awesome for outdoor games that required a lot of space
Jun 23, 2024 · Winter ReddThis was an awesome camping spot! Super pretty! Clean bathrooms, rope swing, zip line, trails, and more. Great family friendly place to stay. The only downside is that the road to get there is risky without a four wheel drive vehicle. Still we're able to make it with a mini van. 😉
Oct 26, 2023 · Brielle MillerThis is a campground owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Reservations have to be made to camp here. I just went to a father's and sons event here last Friday. Nice little place. However, the free range cows like it here as well. So watch your step.
