Based on feedback from fellow campers, Wilton Community Campground boasts a quiet and spacious environment. This makes it an ideal location for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle and immerse themselves in nature. The availability of shade trees is a significant plus, especially during the warmer months, allowing campers to comfortably set up their tents and enjoy the outdoors without being directly under the sun. This natural feature enhances the overall appeal of the campground, providing a more pleasant and relaxing camping experience.
One of the notable features highlighted by visitors is the proximity to a pool. This amenity is particularly appreciated by families with children, offering a refreshing way to cool down and have fun, especially after activities like biking on the nearby trail. The convenience of having a pool close by adds significant value to the camping experience, making Wilton Community Campground a family-friendly destination.
Cleanliness is another aspect that receives positive mentions in the reviews. Campers have noted that the restrooms are well-maintained, which is an important factor for a comfortable and hygienic camping stay. This attention to cleanliness reflects the campground's commitment to providing a pleasant experience for its visitors.
For those planning to enjoy a campfire, Wilton Community Campground offers the convenience of on-site firewood sales. This eliminates the need to bring your own firewood, making packing and setup easier. Gathering around a campfire is a quintessential part of the camping experience, and having firewood readily available adds to the convenience and enjoyment of your stay.
The campground's location is also a significant advantage, particularly for those interested in biking. A trail runs through the town, making Wilton Community Campground a convenient stopover for cyclists. This accessibility to the bike trail makes it an attractive option for those planning cycling trips in the region.
While the overall experience at Wilton Community Campground is positive, some feedback mentions the additional cost for showers, which were complimentary at other nearby city parks visited by one reviewer. Additionally, the camping fees were noted to be slightly higher compared to those other parks. Another minor inconvenience mentioned was the lack of a pen at the registration area for filling out paperwork. However, these points are balanced against the positive aspects of the quiet atmosphere, spacious sites, shade, nearby pool, clean restrooms, and available firewood.
A returning visitor in August 2024, who had last visited in 2015, noted the upgrades made to the campgrounds over the years. This indicates an ongoing effort to improve the facilities and the overall camping experience for visitors, whether they are tent campers or those with RVs or other forms of shelter. The inviting appearance of the park is consistently mentioned, making it a pleasant place to stay.
In summary, Wilton Community Campground offers local users a valuable "camping near me" option characterized by its peaceful ambiance, spacious campsites with shade, access to a nearby pool, clean restrooms, and the convenience of on-site firewood. Its location adjacent to a bike trail further enhances its appeal for cyclists. While there is a fee for showers and the camping fees might be slightly higher than some other local options, the overall positive experience, highlighted by the recent upgrades, makes Wilton Community Campground a worthwhile consideration for your next camping adventure in Wisconsin.

Wilton Community Campground Reviews
The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because you have to pay for the showers. We are biking the trail that runs through town, we've stayed at two other city parks and showers have been free at each. We also paid lower fees at the other two parks. But we really like the park, it's quiet and spacious. We were able to find a shade tree to put our tents under. There's a pool close by which my kids have loved after riding most of the day on their bikes. Restrooms are clean, Firewood available on site. It would have been nice if there had been a pen to fill out the paperwork to stay. Fortunately we had one back at our site, just had to walk to go get it.
Aug 03, 2024 · Melissa KandikoMy August 2024 visit to the campground turned out to be an enjoyable event. My prior visit occurred 9 years earlier, in 2015. The community had made upgrades to the camp grounds. Whether tenting or sheltering in something with walls and a roof, the park is inviting in its appearance.
Aug 15, 2024 · Richard ROne of my favorites places to camp and it’s fully open! 30 amp service for the RV and PLENTY of spots for tent camping. No reservations required (or even taken). Hot showers (hint: use the showers closest to the middle of the building for more hot water and bring plenty of quarters! -$.50 for 4 min for shower). Great city park... a phenomenal find! $7 per adult and another $3 for electricity per day. Quiet, edge of this small town on the heart of the Sparta Elroy bike trail.
May 19, 2021 · Derek BalkeGreat facilities. Super nice place to camp off the trail. Has electric, showers, wood, and laundry! You do have to go up by the library to pay. Will definitely be back.
