Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Lake Monroe Introduce
Looking for the ultimate "camping near me" experience that caters to the whole family, especially the kids? Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Lake Monroe, located at 9396 S Strain Ridge Rd, Bloomington, IN 47401, offers a vibrant and activity-packed camping destination. Combining the beauty of the Lake Monroe area with the engaging world of Yogi Bear, this campground promises a memorable stay for local users seeking adventure and relaxation.
Based on recent customer reviews, Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Lake Monroe stands out for its family-friendly atmosphere and abundance of activities, even when the weather doesn't cooperate. One delighted guest mentioned, "Clean, friendly staff, lots of things for kids to do even when it rained. My grandsons loved the pillow." This highlights the campground's commitment to providing entertainment options for children, ensuring that a little rain won't dampen the spirits. The specific mention of a "pillow" likely refers to a jumping pillow, a popular amenity at many Jellystone Parks, providing a fun and energetic activity for kids of all ages.
The same reviewer was so impressed that they have already booked a return visit in June, specifically mentioning the anticipation of the "pool and splash pad" being open. This indicates that Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Lake Monroe boasts significant water-based recreational facilities, which are undoubtedly a major attraction during the warmer months. Families looking for a camping experience with built-in water park fun will find this particularly appealing.
Another guest who stayed in a rented camper provided a more detailed perspective on the accommodations and services. They were notably impressed with the cleanliness of certain key areas, stating, "The toilet, bathtub, and refrigerator were impressively clean. The floors also looked clean." This is a crucial aspect for any lodging, and positive feedback in this area suggests a commitment to hygiene. However, this reviewer also pointed out areas needing improvement, such as dust in the cabinets and a trashcan that could use a wipe down, indicating that while generally clean, some attention to detail might be beneficial.
The issue of black debris from the bathtub faucet was also mentioned, suggesting a potential maintenance concern that guests might encounter. However, the reviewer also noted a significant positive aspect: "We did call on maintenance a couple times, and they addressed our needs promptly." This responsiveness from the maintenance team is a crucial indicator of good service and a commitment to resolving guest issues efficiently.
The staff in the office also received high praise, with the reviewer stating they were "great." Friendly and helpful staff can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, providing assistance with check-in, information about the park, and addressing any concerns that may arise.
For families with younger children, the reviewer offered a word of caution regarding "creepy creatures in the woods" being "scary for littles." This likely refers to the natural wildlife that may be present in the wooded areas of the campground. Parents of young children might want to take this into consideration and prepare accordingly, perhaps with bedtime stories that address fears or by keeping a close eye on their little ones during outdoor explorations.
The availability of activities is a key feature of Jellystone Parks, and this location seems to offer a variety. However, the reviewer suggested a desire for "more activities during the week, especially during school fall break time." This indicates that while there are activities, the schedule might be more limited during certain off-peak periods. Families planning a mid-week or fall break stay might want to inquire about the activity schedule to ensure it meets their expectations.
Regarding the rented camper itself, the reviewer noted a discrepancy in bed sizes, stating, "The twin bunks are not actually twin sized, if you are staying you need to bring full sized sheets to cover them." This is a practical piece of advice for future guests renting similar accommodations and highlights the importance of being prepared with the correct bedding.
The jumping pillow was once again mentioned as a hit with the kids, reinforcing its popularity as an amenity. However, the reviewer pointed out that "it isn't big enough to accommodate all the kids that were on it at one time," suggesting that it can get crowded during peak periods. Parents might need to be mindful of this and supervise their children accordingly during busy times.
Overall, Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Lake Monroe appears to be a well-regarded "camping near me" destination, particularly for families with children. The combination of clean facilities, friendly staff, and a range of activities, including the highly anticipated pool and splash pad, makes it an attractive option. While some minor maintenance and amenity limitations were noted, the positive feedback and the return booking indicate a generally satisfying experience.
To get the most out of a visit to Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Lake Monroe, local users should consider the following:
- Book in advance, especially during peak seasons and holidays, as indicated by the reviewer's early booking for June.
- Inquire about the activity schedule, particularly if planning a mid-week or off-season stay.
- If renting accommodations, confirm bed sizes and bring appropriate linens.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Lake Monroe Reviews
Clean, friendly staff, lots of things for kids to do even when it rained. My grandsons loved the pillow. Just booked our next stay in June when the pool and splash pad are open.
Apr 28, 2025 · Peggy PeakWe stayed in a rented camper here. The toilet, bathtub, and refrigerator were impressivey clean. The trashcan could use a wipe down. The floors also looked clean. The cabinets and everything were caked with dust, definitely need a deep clean. Also the tub spit out black debris when turning on. It would be nice if there were more activities during the week, especially during school fall break time. The twin bunks are not actually twin sized, if you are staying you need to bring full sized sheets to cover them. The kids loved the jumping pillow, but it isn't big enough to accommodate all the kids that were on it at one time. We did call on maintenance a couple times, and they addressed our needs promptly. Staff in office were great. The creepy creatures in the woods are scary for littles.
Oct 18, 2024 · Angie OOverall we enjoyed our stay here, just not sure if we will be back. The pool was ice cold & advertised as heated. My 2 year old wouldn’t really get in the water. We were excited about the hay rides, but they never had one during Friday-Sunday while we were there. Our cabin was really old & needs maintenance. Our grill did not work at all, so luckily we brought our own. The coffee pot still had a leftover filter with coffee in it and kitchen utensils were dirty, left on the porch. With the price we paid for our cabin, my expectation was much higher.
Aug 15, 2024 · Britney LollerFirst off all of the staff at this facility was friendly and helpful. I addressed a couple issues about the cabin with them such as the microwave that smelled like it was smoking due to exposed metal and the door leading into the screened porch being broke. They sent some one over to replace the microwave and "fix" the door. The cabins are relatively expensive to rent so we expected them to be in better shape. The screened in porch has a huge area of ripped screen, the microwave was not safe, which is something cleaning should have seen if they cleaned the microwave which you an tell by the picture they didn't. They had utensils and plates in a dirty tote on the screened in porch. You could tell the floor was only swept. It had for sure not been mopped. While sweeping the everyday dirt that we tracked in I found necklace with beads under the couch . I found doing normal everyday sweeping. Something that would have been caught by cleaning staff if the had swept under there. There was a huge part of the concrete slab at the cabin that has no ground under it that I fell on, super unsafe for a place that has kids running around. The 4 ft pool was closed one day and was cloudy the day before it was closed and the day after it was closed. Laser tag was broken when we were there which is the one thing my older son was looking forward to. It's just disappointing as we spent Wednesday thru Sunday there and we could have went somewhere a lot better for the money we paid and the vacation days we used to go there.
Jun 23, 2024 · AshlyOverall enjoyed our stay here in terms of the swimming water areas was perfect for our kids ages 3&5. We stayed during the week and didn’t know when any activities were happening. My only complaints were we rented a cabin and we HORRIBLE ant issue. I’m mean there were every where, bathroom, beds, kitchen. The door is damaged allowing pests in, as well as water when it rained. Upon arrival the microwave was not clean from previous tenants and the beds were equal to sleeping cement slabs. This was our first time “camping” but hoping this isn’t a typical experience.
