Big Elm Mobile Home Park Introduce
Big Elm Mobile Home Park, located at 502 Beech St #51, Savanna, IL 61074, USA, serves as a mobile home community primarily for long-term residents. While categorized under "RV Parks Near Me," its core offering is manufactured housing. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of Big Elm Mobile Home Park, drawing upon the contrasting experiences shared by residents to detail its environment, services, features, and key considerations for prospective inhabitants. It is important to note that resident feedback indicates a significant shift in the park's character over time.
The environment at Big Elm Mobile Home Park presents a tale of two different periods, as described by residents. A current resident highly praises the park's atmosphere, calling it "a nice quiet place to live." This individual highlights the tranquility, stating, "I can go out on my deck on the weekends at 10 to 3 am and could hear a pin drop." This suggests a peaceful environment, conducive to relaxation and undisturbed living. The positive sentiment extends to neighborly relations, with the resident reporting, "I don't have any issues with neighbors and other tenants they keep to themselves it's something I enjoy." For families, a crucial aspect is the safety for children: "The kids can play outside and not have to worry about anything," indicating a secure and child-friendly environment. This perspective portrays Big Elm as a serene and harmonious community.
However, a former long-term resident, who lived there for "ten + yrs," provides a starkly different and concerning account of the park's environmental decline under new ownership. This reviewer states that the new owner "started moving in drug ppl, piggy ppl and loud ppl." This indicates a significant negative shift in the demographic and behavior of residents, leading to a less desirable and potentially unsafe living environment. The description of "piggy ppl" could imply issues with cleanliness and trash management, further detracting from the park's aesthetic and hygiene. The presence of "loud ppl" directly contradicts the "quiet place to live" sentiment expressed by the current resident, suggesting that the quietude may no longer be universally experienced or consistently maintained across the park. Such changes can fundamentally alter the perceived quality and comfort of the living space for many residents.
The physical upkeep of the park also appears to be a point of contention. The former resident laments that the new owner "Wouldn't fix anything" and "Wouldn't clean the place up." This suggests a decline in maintenance standards for common areas and park infrastructure, which can lead to a run-down appearance and potential safety hazards. The accumulation of "trash" and general neglect of the "place" directly impact the living conditions and overall quality of the environment. This contrast highlights a potential decline in the physical environment, from a well-maintained, tranquil setting to one exhibiting signs of neglect and disorder.
The services and features offered by Big Elm Mobile Home Park, particularly under the "new owner," are a significant source of concern according to the long-term former resident. The central issue revolves around the owner's alleged unwillingness to address maintenance issues. The statement "Wouldn't fix anything" points to a severe lack of responsive maintenance for park infrastructure or resident concerns. This could encompass anything from road repairs and utility issues to general upkeep of common areas, which are fundamental services expected in a mobile home park.
Furthermore, the claim that the owner "Wouldn't clean the place up" suggests a deficiency in maintaining basic cleanliness and order within the community. This lack of active management in maintaining a tidy environment directly impacts the quality of life for residents and contradicts the expectation of a well-managed park. The negative impact of these changes on the resident's health, leading their doctor to advise them "to get out of there," underscores the severity of the reported decline in living conditions and park management. This is a critical indicator of the inadequacy of services provided to maintain a healthy and safe residential environment.
While the current resident praises the quietness and the ability for children to play safely, it's important to consider that this might be an individual experience or reflective of certain sections of the park. The former resident's strong negative feedback about the introduction of "drug ppl" and "loud ppl" directly impacts the sense of security and peace that a mobile home park should ideally offer. The perception of a decline in tenant quality and an increase in disruptive behavior suggests a lack of robust tenant screening or enforcement of community rules by the new management.
Mobile home parks typically provide basic utility hookups (water, sewer, electricity), but the provided information does not detail specifics on these services. The focus of the reviews is on the broader management and social environment, which directly affect the overall living experience in terms of peace, safety, and general well-being. The act of selling a home and having it "pulled out" of the park due to these issues further emphasizes the gravity of the problems experienced by the former resident, indicating that the conditions were severe enough to necessitate relocation.
For individuals and families searching for "RV Parks Near Me" or mobile home living in Savanna, IL, Big Elm Mobile Home Park presents a complex picture. On one hand, a current resident experiences it as a "nice quiet place" where children can play safely. On the other hand, a long-term former resident describes a significant decline under new ownership, marked by undesirable tenants, lack of maintenance, and a deteriorating environment.
Therefore, any promotional information would need to be carefully evaluated against these conflicting reports. The potential for a quiet and family-friendly environment exists, but it appears to be jeopardized by reported management issues and changes in the resident base. Key considerations for prospective residents include:
- Management Assessment: Directly contact the park management (at (815) 273-4200 or +1 815-273-4200) to inquire about their current policies regarding tenant screening, noise control, and property maintenance. Understanding their approach to community management is crucial.
- On-Site Observation: Visit the park multiple times, at different hours of the day and week, to personally assess the noise levels, cleanliness, and the general demeanor of residents. Observe the condition of common areas and individual properties.
- Resident Interaction: If possible, discreetly speak with current residents to gather varied perspectives on their living experiences, particularly concerning recent changes.
- Property Condition: If considering purchasing a mobile home within the park, conduct a thorough inspection to ensure it meets your standards, as the park's overall maintenance level may be inconsistent.
- Personal Priorities: Weigh the importance of a quiet environment and child safety against the reported issues of maintenance neglect and potentially disruptive new tenants.
In conclusion, Big Elm Mobile Home Park in Savanna, IL, carries a mixed reputation. While some residents find it peaceful and family-friendly, significant concerns about management, tenant quality, and maintenance under new ownership have been raised. Potential residents should exercise extreme caution and perform comprehensive due diligence to ensure that the park aligns with their expectations for a long-term living environment.

It's a nice quiet place to live. I can go out on my deck on the weekends at 10 to 3 am and could hear a pin drop. I don't have any issues with neighbors and other tenants they keep to themselves it's something I enjoy I have my wife and 4 kids that live here with me. The kids can play outside and not have to worry about anything.
Mar 13, 2018 · Frank CarteI used to live there for ten + yrs but the new owner started moving in drug ppl, piggy ppl and loud ppl. Wouldn't fix anything. Wouldn't clean the place up. Finally my doctor after three new scripts told me to get out of there. I sold my home and the new owners pulled it out.
