Resident feedback regarding Bonnet Lake Estates presents a mixed view, highlighting both positive and negative aspects of living in this community. It's important for potential residents to consider these perspectives to gain a balanced understanding of what the park offers.
One resident describes Bonnet Lake Estates as a "safe place" with the appealing feature of "waterfront Lake front" properties, acknowledging the scenic beauty of the location. This suggests that the park benefits from a picturesque environment, potentially offering residents access to and views of Bonnet Lake.
However, this same resident raises significant concerns regarding the management and the financial aspects of living in the community. They mention that the park is owned by islandcommunities.com and express a general dissatisfaction with communities under this ownership. Specifically regarding Bonnet Lake Estates, they report unexpected charges for "back pay" covering services such as garbage, lawn care, water, property taxes, and water meter installations. These charges were reportedly levied on top of the regular lot rent and existing fees for water, garbage, and lawn care. This suggests a lack of transparency or unexpected increases in the cost of living, which can be a major concern for residents, particularly seniors who may be on fixed incomes.
The resident also points out a lack of amenities typically found in mobile home parks, such as a swimming pool or clubhouse. The limited laundry facilities are also a concern, with only two functioning washing machines and two dryers available, alongside two broken washing machines that have not been repaired. This inadequacy of essential facilities can significantly impact the convenience and quality of life for the residents, especially the senior population within the park.
Based on these experiences, the resident strongly advises against buying or living in any communities owned by islandcommunities.com, including Bonnet Lake Estates, despite its beautiful lakefront setting. This negative recommendation is primarily driven by the unexpected financial burdens and the lack of adequate amenities.
In contrast, another resident offers a more positive perspective, stating that the people in Bonnet Lake Estates are "great" and that "everybody makes like part of the family." This suggests a strong sense of community and a welcoming atmosphere among the residents. This social aspect can be a significant draw for those seeking a close-knit and supportive living environment within a mobile home park.
Considering these two reviews, Bonnet Lake Estates presents a dichotomy: a potentially beautiful waterfront location with a friendly community, but also concerns regarding management practices, unexpected fees, and limited or poorly maintained amenities. Potential residents will need to weigh these factors carefully.
To provide a more comprehensive overview, we can analyze the potential environment, services, and features based on the limited information available:
- Environment: The park boasts a "waterfront Lake front" location, suggesting scenic views and potential access to lake activities. The overall upkeep and landscaping of the park are not detailed, but the beauty of the lakefront is specifically mentioned.
- Services: The essential services mentioned are water, garbage, and lawn care, for which residents reportedly pay regular fees and were also subjected to "back pay" charges. Laundry facilities are available but appear to be inadequate, with only two working washers and dryers. The functionality and reliability of other utilities (electricity, sewage) are not discussed in the reviews.
- Features: The park lacks common amenities such as a swimming pool and clubhouse, which are often considered standard in many mobile home communities and contribute to recreational and social opportunities. The primary feature highlighted is the lakefront location.
- Community: One resident describes a strong sense of community where people make newcomers feel like family, indicating a positive social environment. However, the other resident's negative experience with management and fees might overshadow this for some.
There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. The feedback focuses on the lived experiences within the park rather than any incentives for new residents.
For individuals actively searching within the "RV parks near me" category, Bonnet Lake Estates might appeal due to its lakefront setting. However, the serious concerns raised about unexpected financial charges and inadequate amenities should not be overlooked. It is crucial to determine if the potential benefits of the location and community outweigh the reported drawbacks related to management and facilities.
Prospective residents are strongly encouraged to conduct thorough due diligence before considering Bonnet Lake Estates. This should include:
- Contacting the park management directly to inquire about all fees, including lot rent and any additional charges for services. Request a clear and comprehensive breakdown of all costs.
- Specifically ask about the "back pay" charges mentioned in the review and the reasons behind them. Understand the billing practices for water, garbage, and lawn care.
- Inquire about the maintenance schedule and plans for the laundry facilities and any other infrastructure within the park.
- Ask about the availability of other amenities such as a pool, clubhouse, or recreational areas.
- If possible, and with respect for residents' privacy, attempt to speak with current residents to get a broader range of opinions on the management, fees, and overall living experience.
The stark contrast between the positive feedback about the community and the negative feedback regarding management and fees suggests a complex situation at Bonnet Lake Estates. Potential residents must carefully weigh these factors based on their individual priorities and financial considerations.
In conclusion, Bonnet Lake Estates in Avon Park, FL, offers the attractive feature of lakefront living and a potentially welcoming community. However, significant concerns have been raised by a resident regarding unexpected financial burdens, the lack of common amenities, and inadequate maintenance of essential facilities like the laundry room. Prospective residents should proceed with caution, conduct thorough inquiries, and carefully consider whether the benefits of the location and community outweigh the reported drawbacks before making a decision about living in this mobile home park.

Bonnet Lake Estates Reviews
I would not recommend any one to buy or live in any of these communities that they own islandcommunities.com. Here at Bonnet Lakes estates is a safe place and does have waterfront Lake front that's all that is beautiful. They have recently charged us back pay for garbage, lawn care, water, their taxes, water meters, on top of our regular lot rent and water, garbage lawn care etc. It's unfair their is no swimming pool or club house. We do have laundry only 2 washing machines work and 2 dryers and 2 broken washing machine which have not been fixed yet. It's really sad because seniors also live here. In my opinion I just wouldn't recommend any to buy or live in any of their communities.
