Hi, I'm a kid in this trailer park and I really wouldn't recommend moving here unless you don't have much choices. The rent is too high and the eviction warning reasons are really stupid, my mom recently got one because we had damages and holes in the walls.. and while i admit a few of them are from my batshit crazy brother the majority was already there when we moved in. For example, there was and still is a hole underneath the floor boarding or whatever it's called and a hole behind the back bathroom toilet that allows rodents and insects to come in during the cold months. The walls are also weak and will probably break if you lean on them because the exact thing happened to me and when they replaced some of our walls after various complaints, the color was even a whole different shade than the original which I know is a bit of a stupid thing to include but still. also the littler kids (around 7-12) will just sit around on the road and other people's area. I'm not gonna call it a lawn or anything else because it's barely enough for my SMALL dog to walk around when she goes outside. A victim of this is my friend which I will not name but they have a pretty decent amount considering theyre on a curve and every time i go over to their house to hang out I have to avoid random groups of kids just sitting on her grass and its super awkward. The lot numbers are also so mixed up and I don't even understand how or why, it just makes it so confusing for people who don't visit often to find our trailer. There was also a recent dumpster fire and we (yes my family specifically) had to call the fire department to put it out, so there's definitely some.. questionable people here. speaking of the fire department though, it is convenient that they're right beside the trailer park along with about 2 different stores where you can get little snacks, but the Calhoun groceries are a little expensive so I'd recommend that other one across from it if you went to either but i havent been to it in a while so im not 100% sure. But again, it is convenient how close those things are and since I have trouble with transportation and I have to walk up there, it only takes about 10-15 minutes I think if you're on the shorter side and a slow walker. There's also a pretty good handful of armadillos (or possums I don't remember exactly) and stray cats, but sadly the cats mainly have luchemia. Back to the problems though, there's this kid from the school the majority of the trailer park goes to and I'm pretty sure he's the one that spray painted those messages on the road, I forgot specifically what they said but theyre super inappropriate and have been there for years in a row, not even joking! I've been here since 2020 and Im pretty sure he's re-spray painting them every once in a while so they don't fade away. You don't have to fully believe me or anything since my memory isn't really the best and I'm a simple teen (possibly being nuero divergent or on the spectrum of autism ;^_^) but do know that this isnt the best place to go if you have a pretty decent amount of money and youre looking for a good place to stay for a long while or trying to raise kids, there isnt much good things to happen for special memories for little kids - ayla

Deer Run Community Introduce

Are you searching for "RV parks near me" in the Calhoun, Louisiana area, potentially seeking a long-term residential option? This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of Deer Run Community, a mobile home park located at 161 Cowboy Rd, Calhoun, LA 71225, USA. Understanding the nuances of a residential community is crucial when making housing decisions, and this overview will synthesize available information to help you form a comprehensive picture.

Deer Run Community can be contacted via phone at (318) 372-4050 or mobile phone at +1 318-372-4050. While categorized under "RV parks near me" due to its nature of accommodating manufactured homes, it's important to recognize that mobile home parks often function as long-term residential communities rather than temporary RV campgrounds. Therefore, the environment, services, and features are geared towards a more permanent living situation.

Based on available customer reviews, it appears that Deer Run Community has faced certain challenges over time. One reviewer, identifying as a young resident, expressed concerns regarding high rent and strict eviction warnings, citing an instance where their family received a warning due to pre-existing damages in their unit. This review also highlighted issues with the structural integrity of some homes, including holes in walls and flooring that allegedly existed prior to their occupancy, leading to pest intrusion. The reviewer further mentioned instances of mismatched wall paint following repairs, which, while seemingly minor, contributed to an overall sense of dissatisfaction.

The social environment, as described by the same reviewer, includes children congregating in common areas and on residents' lots, potentially causing inconvenience. The layout of the park, with mixed-up lot numbers, was also noted as a source of confusion for visitors. A significant safety concern was raised regarding a recent dumpster fire that the reviewer's family reportedly had to address by calling the fire department, suggesting potential issues with community safety or resident behavior.

On a more positive note, the location of Deer Run Community offers some convenience. The fire department is situated adjacent to the park, and there are a couple of stores nearby for quick snacks. Calhoun Groceries, while mentioned as being somewhat expensive, is also within walking distance, approximately 10-15 minutes for someone with slower walking speed or shorter stature. Another grocery option across from Calhoun Groceries was also mentioned, although the reviewer's familiarity with it was limited.

The local wildlife includes armadillos or possums and stray cats, with the unfortunate detail that many of the cats reportedly suffer from leukemia. This observation provides a glimpse into the natural surroundings of the community.

The reviewer also raised concerns about vandalism, specifically mentioning spray-painted messages on the road that have persisted for several years, allegedly being periodically re-sprayed by a local student. This adds to the picture of a community facing some social and maintenance challenges.

Another review echoed similar sentiments, stating that while Deer Run Community may have been a pleasant place when it initially opened, those times have passed. This reviewer also described it as potentially unsafe and strongly advised against raising a family there, citing high rent and a perceived lack of rule enforcement.

Considering these points, prospective residents searching for "RV parks near me" who are considering Deer Run Community for long-term living should carefully weigh the reported drawbacks against the convenience of its location and the potential for affordability that mobile home parks can sometimes offer. It is crucial to conduct thorough due diligence, including visiting the property, speaking with current residents if possible, and inquiring about the park's management policies and maintenance procedures. Understanding the current state of the community, its rules and regulations, and the responsiveness of management to resident concerns is essential before making a decision.

While this introduction aims to be objective based on the provided information, it is important to remember that these are individual experiences and may not represent the views of all residents. However, the consistency in the negative feedback regarding safety, maintenance, and management practices warrants careful consideration. For those prioritizing a well-maintained and secure environment, further investigation and comparison with other "RV parks near me" in the Calhoun area would be prudent.

In conclusion, Deer Run Community, located in Calhoun, LA, offers a residential setting within the category of "RV parks near me." While it benefits from a convenient location near essential services, potential residents should be aware of the concerns raised in customer reviews regarding maintenance, safety, management, and community environment. Thorough personal investigation is strongly recommended to determine if Deer Run Community aligns with individual housing needs and expectations.
