Plantation RV Park Introduce
Are you searching for "RV parks near me" while planning a visit to Natchez, Mississippi, and considering Plantation RV Park located at 1 Frederick St, Natchez, MS 39120, USA? It is important to approach this option with caution, as recent customer reviews paint a concerning picture of the facility, despite acknowledging the politeness of the staff. This introduction aims to provide local users with an objective overview of Plantation RV Park based on the experiences shared by recent visitors, highlighting both potential positives and significant drawbacks.
Plantation RV Park is situated in Natchez, a city renowned for its antebellum history and beautiful historic homes, attracting tourists interested in exploring the local historical attractions. While the location might seem convenient for accessing these sites, the immediate environment and facilities of the RV park appear to fall significantly short of expectations, according to recent reviews.
Analyzing Customer Feedback: A Mixed Bag with Predominantly Negative Experiences
One reviewer noted the "polite courteous staff making the most of what they have," indicating a potential positive aspect of the park's service. However, this positive comment is heavily overshadowed by a series of serious concerns raised about the facility itself. The reviewer points out that "this facility proves you get what you pay for," suggesting that the low cost might be indicative of the subpar conditions.
A significant issue highlighted is the discrepancy between the park's address and GPS coordinates, making it "difficult to find the place." This can be a frustrating and time-consuming ordeal for travelers, especially those arriving at night.
The immediate surroundings of Plantation RV Park are also a major concern. The campground is described as being "located next to a busy highway" and either part of or adjoining "a trailer park full of old scary and abandoned trailers." This paints a picture of an unkempt and potentially unsafe environment. The reviewer explicitly states that this is "the first site that I have camped at that I would be hesitant to allow my family to walk through at night," raising serious safety concerns for potential guests.
Another significant negative aspect mentioned is the management's allowance of "loud barking dogs." One specific instance involved a large dog on a long leash that would bark incessantly from sunrise until after dark, even coming within close proximity of the reviewer's vehicle at night, creating a "very unnerving" experience. This lack of enforcement regarding noise and pet control can severely impact the peace and quiet expected at an RV park.
The accessibility of the RV sites themselves also appears problematic. The park reportedly has "only one pull through site," with the remaining sites requiring "backing up over a curb to park your rig." This is described as "not very big rig friendly" and could pose significant challenges for owners of larger RVs or those less experienced with maneuvering their vehicles in tight spaces.
The surrounding neighborhood also raises concerns, with the "closest store" reportedly having "bars on the windows," suggesting a potentially high-crime area. Based on these numerous negative factors, the reviewer concludes by stating they "would not recommend this facility for any less that a dire emergency."
Another reviewer who found Plantation RV Park in the Good Sams RV Guide strongly suggests that it "should be removed" from the guide. Their experience echoes many of the concerns raised by the first reviewer. They worked with the owner to find a site with working utilities, indicating that some sites might have utility issues. They were also not informed that the "laundry was closed," and of the two showers available, "one was out of order," and the other required a code that the owner "failed to tell us." This lack of transparency and maintenance is highly problematic.
Furthermore, this reviewer reports "no wifi available at night," suspecting that it is turned off. This can be a significant inconvenience for travelers needing to stay connected.
The overall condition of the park is described as "a mess with broken sidewalks and drives" and the presence of "a old trailer park in the back with lots of barking dogs" further reinforces the negative assessment of the environment and noise levels. The tight and old roads within the park are also highlighted as difficult to navigate, with a warning not to "pull in at night" due to the difficulty in turning around. This reviewer ultimately labeled Plantation RV Park "a hot mess" and moved to a state park down the road the following morning, underscoring the severity of their negative experience.
Potential Environment, Services, and Features (Based on Negative Feedback)
Based on the overwhelmingly negative feedback, the environment and features of Plantation RV Park appear to be significantly lacking:
- Undesirable Location: Situated next to a busy highway and an old, potentially unsafe trailer park.
- Difficult Navigation: GPS address may be inaccurate, and internal roads are old and tight, making maneuvering difficult, especially at night.
- Poor Site Accessibility: Only one pull-through site, with others requiring backing over curbs, not big rig friendly.
- Noise Issues: Loud and persistent barking dogs allowed by management.
- Poor Maintenance: Broken sidewalks and drives, potentially non-functional or inaccessible amenities like laundry and showers.
- Unreliable Utilities: Potential issues with working utilities on some sites, and unreliable or unavailable Wi-Fi at night.
- Questionable Safety: Surrounding area described as concerning, with the closest store having bars on the windows.
Any potential services would be overshadowed by these significant drawbacks. While polite staff is mentioned, their efforts seem limited by the state of the facility itself.
Lack of Promotional Information
The provided information does not include any promotional offers. Given the overwhelmingly negative reviews, it is likely that the park is not actively promoting its facilities. Any potential promotions should be viewed with extreme caution in light of the serious concerns raised by recent visitors.
Connecting with Local Needs
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" in Natchez, MS, Plantation RV Park appears to be a facility that should be approached with extreme caution. The numerous negative reviews highlight significant concerns regarding safety, noise, maintenance, accessibility, and the overall environment. While the staff might be polite, the fundamental issues with the park seem to outweigh any potential positives.
Local users are strongly advised to consider alternative RV parks in the Natchez, MS area. The second reviewer's decision to move to a state park down the road suggests that there might be better options available that offer a safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable experience.
Conclusion
Based on recent customer reviews, Plantation RV Park at 1 Frederick St, Natchez, MS, appears to be a facility with significant shortcomings. While the staff is noted as polite, the park suffers from an undesirable location next to a busy highway and a dilapidated trailer park, difficult navigation, poorly accessible sites, loud barking dogs, poor maintenance, unreliable utilities, and potential safety concerns. The overwhelmingly negative feedback strongly suggests that local users searching for "RV parks near me" in Natchez should explore alternative options and consider Plantation RV Park only as a last resort in a dire emergency. The experiences shared by recent visitors paint a picture of a facility that does not meet basic expectations for a comfortable and safe RV stay.

Plantation RV Park Reviews
Polite courteous staff making the most of what they have. However..... this facility proves you get what you pay for. The address does not agree with your GPS therefore it is difficult to find the place. The campground is located next to a busy highway and is part of or adjoins a trailer park full of old scary and abandoned trailers. This is the first site that I have camped at that I would be hesitant to allow my family to walk through at night. Management allows loud barking dogs. The site next to ours had a large barking dog that barked at everything that moved from sunup until after dark. Dog was on a long leash that came to within 7 feet of my truck door when I got out at night. Very unnerving. Only had one pull through site and the rest required backing up over a curb to park your rig in the site. Not very big rig friendly. The closest store had bars on the windows. Would not recommend this facility for any less that a dire emergency.
Nov 20, 2024 · Craig BurgessFound them in Good Sams RV Guide, they should be removed! Stayed when visiting the local historical attractions. Worked with owner on site to rent spot, he had us move to a site with working utilities. Never mentioned that the laundry was closed, 2 showers which on was out of order and the other needed a code to enter which he failed to tell us. No wifi available at night, I think they turn it off. The place is a mess with broken sidewalks and drives and a old trailer park in the back with lots of barking dogs. Do not pull in at night, it is very hard to turn around on the old tight roads . What a hot mess of an RV park, we moved the next morning to the state park down the road.
Oct 14, 2024 · Glenn DotyWe arrived at 5:30 and the office was closed. The power at our campsite didn't work. We tried calling the number on the reservation multiple times and emailing them but got no response. We finally moved over one site after looking on the website to see if it was open. We had our dogs with us and decided to take them for a walk to check out the bathroom. The one toilet available was disgusting. Someone had made good use of the toilet and left it unflushed, along with stringing dirty toilet paper all over the floor. There was a door code we weren't given to get into the showers and there was a sign on the laundry facility stating it was out of service. The whole bathouse/bathroom building was gross. You could tell it hadn't been cleaned any time recently. On our way back to the campsite several dogs came from the trailer behind the bathhouse. They followed us barking at our dogs as we hurried them back to our camper. If you take dogs here just know they aren't safe. The RV park backs up to a run down trailer park. Overall we felt unsafe and dirty. It seems like it was a decent RV park sometime in the past but isn't cared for anymore.
Jun 04, 2024 · Shawn PaayI sure wish I had read Google reviews before booking this place. There were a few decent spots in the front but the back gave way to broken down mobile homes, garbage, old furniture, giant potholes. The restrooms were filthy with mold and bugs. We stayed three hours while we visited Natchez then hitched up and left. This place should be shut down by the health department
Aug 01, 2024 · Dana WilsonI really hate leaving a bad review, but I would want to know the issues with park The pictures on web site are old.,campground doesnt look anything like the campground now.The roads are rough, the restrooms we not clean, laundry room still not open.It also sounds like a race track with all the traffic on the road next to the campground. You also cannot get anyone to answer your calls.I had to give another camper the wifi info and codes to bathroom because she had called and e mail and never got answers. It could be a beautiful campground if someone would take the time to work on it.
