Southern Retreat RV Park Introduce
Southern Retreat RV Park, situated at 7445 Blythe Island Hwy in Brunswick, Georgia, presents itself as an option for those seeking "RV parks near me," particularly travelers along Interstate 95. The available reviews offer a mixed perspective on the park, highlighting both its convenience for travelers and expressing significant concerns regarding its management and environment. For local users considering this RV park, it is crucial to weigh these contrasting experiences.
One reviewer, who stayed at the park during a Thanksgiving trip en route to Disney World, described Southern Retreat RV Park as a "nice campground right off I95." This convenient location is a significant advantage for those traveling along the interstate and looking for a quick and easy overnight stop. The reviewer also mentioned that they would "probably stay here again," indicating a satisfactory experience for a short-term stay. This suggests that for travelers prioritizing accessibility from I-95, Southern Retreat RV Park could be a viable option within the "RV parks near me" category.
However, this positive experience is juxtaposed with a deeply concerning negative review. This reviewer strongly asserts that "Standards of quality, respect and positive management do not exist" at Southern Retreat RV Park. They allege a stark contrast between the initial welcoming and the subsequent negative experiences, likening it to "the twilight zone." The most alarming accusations include "Drunken behavior by their staff and management including the vulgarity and abusive behavior towards children" which the reviewer found "disgusting." Furthermore, they claim that "Pictures advertising a beautiful tranquil family place are very deceptive!" This review paints a picture of an environment that is far from the advertised ideal and raises serious red flags about the park's management and safety, particularly for families with children considering "RV parks near me" for any duration of stay.
Another point of feedback from the more positive review is that "the sites are a little bit tight together." This suggests that while the park may be convenient, the spacing between RV sites might be less generous than some other "RV parks near me." For RVers who value privacy and space around their campsite, this could be a significant drawback. It implies that maneuvering larger rigs might be challenging, and the proximity to neighbors could impact the overall comfort and tranquility of the stay.
Considering these contrasting reviews, it is difficult to form a definitive objective assessment of the environment, services, and features of Southern Retreat RV Park based solely on this limited information. The positive review highlights its convenience for travelers along I-95 and suggests it can be a suitable option for a brief overnight stay. However, the severe allegations in the negative review regarding the behavior of staff and management, as well as the deceptive advertising claims, are deeply troubling and cannot be ignored. These accusations, if accurate, would indicate a serious lack of quality, respect, and positive management, potentially creating an unsafe and unpleasant environment for guests, especially families.
Information regarding specific services and features of Southern Retreat RV Park is scarce in these reviews. The mention of it being a "campground" suggests the availability of basic amenities such as hookups for water, electricity, and sewage, although the type and reliability of these services are not detailed. The presence of a "camper" in the Thanksgiving dinner photo implies that RVs are accommodated. However, details about other potential amenities like restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, recreational areas, or WiFi are not provided in these reviews. For local users comparing "RV parks near me," the absence of information on these standard amenities makes it challenging to assess the park's overall value and suitability for different types of stays.
Similarly, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in Southern Retreat RV Park would need to contact the park directly at (912) 261-1025 or +1 912-261-1025 to inquire about current rates, site availability, specific amenities offered, and any potential discounts or special offers. Given the starkly contrasting reviews, it would be particularly prudent to ask detailed questions about the park's policies regarding staff conduct, guest safety, and the overall environment to address the serious concerns raised.
Brunswick, GA, the location of Southern Retreat RV Park, offers a coastal setting with various attractions and services. Its proximity to I-95 makes it a natural stopover point for travelers. However, the internal environment and management of the RV park itself are critical factors for a positive experience, regardless of the surrounding area's appeal. The conflicting reviews suggest that the experience at Southern Retreat RV Park can vary significantly.
In conclusion, Southern Retreat RV Park presents a mixed picture for those seeking "RV parks near me" in Brunswick, GA. Its location directly off I-95 is a clear advantage for travelers looking for a convenient overnight stop, and one reviewer found it to be a "nice campground" for this purpose. However, the serious allegations of unprofessional and abusive behavior by staff and management in another review raise significant concerns about the park's standards and the safety and comfort of its guests. The mention of "tight" sites also suggests a potential drawback for those seeking more spacious accommodations. Without further information or more consistent reviews, it is difficult to provide a definitive recommendation. Local users should exercise caution and due diligence, potentially contacting the park directly with specific questions about their concerns and seeking additional recent reviews or feedback before making a decision to stay at Southern Retreat RV Park.

Southern Retreat RV Park Reviews
Standards of quality , respect and positive management do not exist. After taking your money with a smile your experience quickly changes to that of the twilight zone . Drunken behavior by their staff and management including the vulgarity and abusive behavior towards children is disgusting. Pictures advertising a beautiful tranquil family place are very deceptive!
Mar 29, 2025 · tami chaseA quick photo of our Thanksgiving dinner in the camper. This is a nice campground right off I95. The sites are a little bit tight together but it's otherwise a very nice campground. A great place to stay if you're traveling up 95. We are on our way to Fort Wilderness at Disney World We will probably stay here again.
Nov 28, 2024 · NickWe absolutely Love SOUTHERN RETREAT RV PARK!!! We feel completely at home and safe!!! We lived there in 2023 for 6-9 mos waiting for our 50’ Dufour Classic sailboat commission; upon a call to go up States to Staten Island NY we took off in our excitement and our 2007 40’ Gulfstream was left two months without us being there!!We came back and our Unit was there without any incidents! We felt completely comfortable in the safe keeping of Southern Retreat RV Park!!! They are extremely PET FRIENDLY too!!! Their amenities are of several: restaurant, LIVE BANDS on patio, pool, a wonderful playground; plenty of space to walk daily! A wonderful dog park! Their bathrooms are clean! And, they do offer laundry facilities on location. So many FIVE STARs to give!March 19 we will be returning on in definite terms and on April 1st we will be going to the beautiful new pads! Most definitely check out this Top Prime RV park!!! You Too will feel safe at HOME or just passing thru! Can only say wonderful!!!!!
Feb 25, 2025 · Cathy RynoDo not recommend!!! The owner is very rude and will tell you to pack up and leave for no reason and will not give any kind of refund! Electrical hook ups have issues and the owner doesn't want to fix them the correct way instead he patches the problems.
Apr 29, 2025 · Erica WilsonMaybe my favorite park ever. It's not the amenities or the sites themselves as they are more than adequate but not overwhelmingly fancy by any means. The reason I say that it's my favorite is because of the people the own and operate the entire facility. They're a bunch of "misfits" by one employees description, who have come together and formed this incredibly tightly bonded family, and you can feel that warmth from the moment you check in. The best part is that it takes very little effort for them to make you feel like you're also a part of that family. To me, that means more than anything else and I can't wait until my travels bring me back this way.Oh yeah, btw, the bar and restaurant is a ton of fun.
