Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach Introduce
For local users searching under the category "RV Parks Near Me" in the Myrtle Beach area, Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach, located at 5800 SC-90, Conway, SC 29526, USA, presents itself as a large and amenity-rich destination catering to both RV travelers and those seeking cottage rentals. Situated a short drive from the bustling attractions of Myrtle Beach, Sun Outdoors aims to provide a comprehensive vacation experience with a wide array of on-site facilities and activities for guests of all ages.
Based on recent customer reviews, experiences at Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach appear to be varied. One visitor, staying in a cottage for a week while exploring the area for potential retirement, expressed significant disappointment with the accommodation's quality relative to its price. Issues reported included uncomfortable mattresses and pillows, stained sheets and towels, inadequate cleaning between occupancies, and difficulties in reaching the front desk, with calls being repeatedly redirected to a call center. Additionally, the provided charcoal grill was described as filthy with a rusted and broken rack. This reviewer concluded they would not return, citing these negative experiences and perceived understaffing during a busy spring break week.
Conversely, another reviewer shared a much more positive experience, highlighting Sun Outdoors as an annual family trip destination. This guest praised the extensive grounds and the abundance of activities available for both kids and adults. The amenities mentioned include "several pools," suggesting multiple options for swimming and recreation. Furthermore, the park boasts mini golf, a gym, pickleball courts, playgrounds, a basketball court, and lakes suitable for fishing, indicating a wide range of recreational opportunities for diverse interests.
This positive review also noted the convenience of on-site dining options, with "an on-site restaurant" and "different bars throughout the property," as well as the variety offered by "different food trucks" that visit on certain days. For those traveling without children, the availability of an "adult only pool" provides a dedicated space for relaxation. Pet owners will appreciate the "trash cans for poop" located throughout the property and the presence of "several dog parks," demonstrating a commitment to accommodating furry companions. Finally, the reviewer highlighted the "convenient" drive to the beach and boardwalk, acknowledging the park's proximity to these popular Myrtle Beach attractions.
Considering these contrasting reviews, it's important for local users exploring "RV Parks Near Me" to weigh the potential benefits against the reported drawbacks. Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach clearly offers a wide array of amenities and activities that can appeal to families and individuals looking for a resort-style experience. The presence of multiple pools, sports facilities, dining options, and pet-friendly features are significant draws. The convenience of being a short drive from the beach and boardwalk further enhances its appeal as a base for exploring the Myrtle Beach area.
However, the negative review raises concerns about the quality and upkeep of the accommodations, specifically the cottages, as well as potential issues with customer service and maintenance. The reported difficulties in contacting the front desk and the condition of the grill suggest areas where the park may need to improve its operational efficiency and attention to detail. The issue of unattended towels reserving prime pool spots also indicates a potential lack of rule enforcement.
For RV travelers, the positive reviewer's focus on the numerous amenities suggests a well-equipped park with ample recreational opportunities. The presence of multiple pools can help mitigate overcrowding, and the variety of sports courts and activities ensures there's something for everyone. The pet-friendly facilities are a significant advantage for those traveling with animals.
It's important to note that the negative review specifically mentions a cottage stay, and the experiences of RVers might differ. The positive review, while not specifying the type of accommodation, broadly praises the grounds and amenities, suggesting that the RV sites themselves might be of a satisfactory standard.
To provide a balanced perspective for local users considering Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach under the "RV Parks Near Me" category, we can summarize the potential environment, services, and features based on the available reviews:
- Environment: The grounds are described as having "so much for kids and adults" and being conducive to a family-friendly atmosphere. The presence of lakes adds to the scenic environment. However, one review suggests potential issues with the cleanliness and upkeep of rental cottages.
- Services: Sun Outdoors offers a range of services including multiple pools (including an adult-only option), mini golf, a gym, pickleball courts, playgrounds, a basketball court, and fishing lakes. On-site dining options include a restaurant, bars, and visiting food trucks. Pet-friendly services include designated trash cans and dog parks.
- Features: Key features include a gated entry (implied by the focus on the grounds and amenities), diverse recreational facilities catering to various interests, on-site dining and beverage options, separate adult and family pool areas, and pet-friendly infrastructure. The park is located in Conway, SC, offering convenient access to Myrtle Beach and its attractions, approximately a drive to the beach and boardwalk.
- Potential Drawbacks: Reported issues include uncomfortable mattresses and pillows, stained linens, inadequate cleaning in cottages, difficulties reaching the front desk, and potentially inconsistent enforcement of pool rules.
Promotional aspects gleaned from the positive review include the wide array of amenities suitable for all ages, the convenience of on-site dining, the availability of an adult-only pool, and the pet-friendly facilities. The reviewer's recommendation and hope to see others there in the summer also serve as a positive endorsement.
For local users considering Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach, particularly those with families or those seeking a resort-style RV park with numerous amenities, the park offers a compelling range of facilities and activities. However, it is advisable to be aware of the potential inconsistencies in accommodation quality and customer service as highlighted in one of the reviews. Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach Reviews
We are here for one week, staying in a cottage. We came here to check the area out as a possible retirement location. We are very disappointed in the quality of the cottage, considering the price they charge for the week. All of the mattresses and pillows are extremely uncomfortable. There were stains on the sheets and towels. The cleaning crew obviously needs some training because they neglected to do a decent job between occupancy. We tried calling the front desk and kept getting re-routed to the call center. Our charcoal grill was filthy and the rack so rusted it broke when we tried to clean it. Again called the front desk to report and was again re-routed to call center. We give up at this point as we leave in two days. The family pool is nice, but you better get there early because people put towels on the good spots and then don’t show up till afternoon. Supposedly not allowed but nobody enforces the rules here. For spring break week you would have thought they would be staffed to accommodate the number of people here but that wasn’t the case anywhere. We won’t be back.
Apr 22, 2025 · Terri MattesWe love sun outdoors. It's an annual trip for me and my family. The grounds have so much for kids and adults. Several pools are on site as well as mini golf, a gym, pickle ball courts, playgrounds, a basketball court, and lakes to fish in.Different food trucks come on certain days as well as an on-site restaurant and different bars throughout the property. The adult only pool gives an option for those traveling without kids to have their own space. For those who travel with your pet, trash cans for poop are located throughout, as well as several dog parks. The drive to the beach and boardwalk is also convenient.Definitely recommend. Hope to see you there this summer!
May 09, 2025 · M WatsStayed here for the first time on the weekend of 5/3. The campsites were very well maintained along with all of the common areas. The music on Friday and Saturday nights kept the group entertained. The pools and waterslides were clean and the staff was extremely friendly. We will be back.
May 07, 2025 · nathan steeleI’m going to first and foremost say that every employee I encountered at this resort was so kind and very accommodating. We booked a 2 bedroom cottage with a loft because we were bringing our 2 very large dogs. We needed to change our stay by one day due to weather in the area we wouldn’t have been able to leave the cottage. Since we had just booked our stay they gave us a one time complimentary change but insisted they only had a studio available. They did not disclose that they would be charging us more money for the smaller unit.We drive 3 hours, only to get there at 3:15 (check in is at 3) only to be told our cottage won’t be ready until close to 4! Again i reiterated that i have two large dogs in my car. To which she says we will be very uncomfortable in a studio with two dogs and a child. So they switch is back to a 2 bedroom cottage. We get to the cottage and the keys don’t work, go back to check in, get new keys, those don’t work. They send maintenance. He informs me the key fob on this unit is broken and nobody was supposed to be in that unit until April 5th. He lets us know he can let us in but if we leave we cannot lock the doors. He then says he can let us in so we aren’t waiting in the heat. With the flick of his scree driver the door unlocks. Absolutely not. This seems very odd to me. Our dogs will not stay in an unlocked room. Once in to cool off the cottage is disgusting!!! To which we are told it hasn’t been clean because nobody is supposed to be there. We get switched to a one bedroom and offered a complimentary golf cart for our troubles to which i decline. We get to the new cottage and it is TERRIBLE. It smells like vomit, there is mold in almost every window, it is 80 degrees inside the cottage. The floors were bubbled up and there was condensation in the windows because of how hot it was. I went to check the bed and there were rips in the sheets. My daughter planned to sleep in the loft and turns out the locks on the windows were broken and they couldn’t be locked at all. Nope.We decide to still give it the benefit of the doubt. We try to go to the outdoor pool. There are so many fire ants everywhere you could hardly get to the pool. Mind you they had just opened that pool up. So we go to the indoor pool. My daughter swims for a few minutes and gets out and says we need to leave. At the bottom of the pool she said there was either a lot of food or vomit floating all over the bottom as well as a bunch of clumps of hair.We cane to this resort a few years ago and had the best time. It seems they seem to have let it go and safety and cleanliness is the least of their worries. Every cottage there needs a thorough deep clean and safety inspection. The assistant general manager ended up speaking with me and gave us a full refund and we drove 3 hours back home 2 hours after arriving. Cannot recommend this establishment until they take care of some much needed problems. Hiring a new maintenance man and cleaning crew for one thing.
Apr 03, 2025 · Stephanie AinsworthWe rented a studio cabin with king size bed. Very beautiful cabin. Super cute and new. Bed was decent, just wish there were more blankets. The pullout sofa was horrible. Good thing I brought a blow up mattress and extra blankets. A few nights my daughter just slept on the couch, she said that was comfortable. The toilet paper, that print on them was tearing us up. Even the restrooms by the pool had softer toilet paper. So we bought some. The soap dispenser was empty, shampoo and conditioner barely had anything. We brought our own. I do wish they have a bath mat or extra towel to step on. There were four towels and only 3 of us so we used extra towel, but normally my husband is with us so we would have been out of luck. wifi never worked, we could locate all the cabins next to us but not B001. Thankfully we had lots to do besides being on the internet. It just would have been nice at night when service wasn't the best in that area, 4G, not much 5G.As for the park, it's definitely beautiful and big. We enjoyed the free miniature golf. Miniature bowling was a lot of fun, although expensive. The pool area was very nice, the food was decent. I wish the water park was open, but that has a season, and we weren't there for it. My girls enjoyed the last river. The water was heated, as heated as it can be with the lows being 39-53°. It's definitely a great park to come with a family whether you are renting a cabin, camper, or a site to park your camper/ rv. Cabins had cable TV, gas stove and microwave with dishes. Picnic table, Adirondack chairs, patio furniture on little deck, grill and fire pit. I would highly recommend this place. It's conveniently located off a high way and then back on to get to myrtle beach or stay there the whole time, enough to keep you busy. The cabin looks exactly like the pictures! Very happy with our stay, we had a lovely time!!
