Are you searching for “RV parks near me” and considering a stop or an extended stay in the Fort Payne, Alabama area? This introduction provides local users with a detailed overview of Wills Creek RV Park, combining publicly available information with insights from online reviews to help you determine if this campground meets your travel needs. Whether you're planning a leisurely exploration of the region or simply need a convenient overnight stop, understanding the environment, services, and features of an RV park is crucial for a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

For inquiries or reservations, you can contact them at (256) 845-6703 or via their mobile phone at +1 256-845-6703. Fort Payne, Alabama, nestled in the scenic foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, offers a variety of attractions and activities for visitors. The area is known for its natural beauty, including nearby Desoto State Park and Little River Canyon National Preserve, providing opportunities for hiking, sightseeing, and outdoor recreation. Staying at Wills Creek RV Park could offer a convenient basecamp for exploring these local points of interest. The initial positive review highlights the park's easy accessibility and the friendliness of the staff upon arrival, suggesting a welcoming first impression and a potentially great location for exploring the surrounding area.
However, it's important to consider the more detailed feedback from another recent visitor who stayed for an overnight stop. While they also noted the easy access, a nice entrance and office, and a very friendly check-in experience, their review points out several areas for consideration. One significant aspect mentioned is the lack of trees for shade, a point that was also raised in a review from 2018, suggesting this might be a persistent characteristic of the park. For travelers seeking respite from the sun, especially during warmer months, this could be a notable drawback.
The reviewer found the parking lot to be "fairly" level and easy to navigate, with plenty of length for RVs. However, they also observed that the sites are quite close together, which might be a concern for those seeking more privacy or space between their camping setups. The park was noted to be quiet and presumably safe, which are important factors for a peaceful overnight stay.
A specific issue highlighted in the review was the presence of a "spotlight" shining directly into the RV windows at night. While acknowledging the necessity of security lighting, the reviewer suggests that directing lights towards the ground would mitigate this disturbance, allowing for a more comfortable sleeping environment with open windows for a breeze. This feedback indicates a potential area where a simple adjustment could significantly improve the guest experience.
The park's "store" was described as not having much stock, so it's advisable for travelers to be well-prepared with their essential supplies. The facilities were noted as sparse but clean, which suggests that while basic needs are met, luxury or extensive amenities might not be a hallmark of this RV park. The reviewer did not use the facilities themselves, so further information on their quality and availability would be beneficial for longer stays.
An interesting point raised in the review concerns a pizza place advertised in the park's paperwork that the office staff seemed unaware of. This lack of information about a local business promoted by the campground might be a minor inconvenience but highlights a potential disconnect in local recommendations or partnerships. For travelers looking to support businesses associated with their accommodation, this could be a point of frustration.
Overall, the second review suggests that while Wills Creek RV Park offers convenience and friendly service, it might be considered overpriced at $70 per night given the lack of shade, closely spaced sites, and the spotlight issue. The reviewer implies that attention to these details could enhance the park's appeal and justify the cost.
When searching for “RV parks near me,” it's essential to balance positive initial impressions with more detailed feedback regarding the overall experience and value for money. Wills Creek RV Park appears to offer a convenient location for exploring Fort Payne and the surrounding natural attractions, coupled with friendly staff. However, potential guests should be aware of the limited shade, proximity of sites, and potential for disruptive lighting at night.
For those planning an overnight stop, the ease of access and perceived safety of Wills Creek RV Park could be appealing. However, for longer stays, the lack of shade and potentially limited amenities might prompt a search for other “RV parks near me” offering more comprehensive facilities or a more natural setting. Travelers should also consider the price point in relation to the amenities and overall comfort provided.
When evaluating “RV parks near me,” consider the following factors based on the information available for Wills Creek RV Park:
- Location: Easy to get to, convenient for exploring Fort Payne and surrounding areas.
- Staff: Friendly and welcoming upon arrival.
- Accessibility: Sites are fairly level and long, easy to get into.
- Environment: Lack of trees for shade is a significant drawback for some. Sites are close together. Quiet and seemingly safe.
- Facilities: Sparse but clean, according to one review. Limited stock in the store.
- Value: Perceived as overpriced at $70 per night by one reviewer given the amenities and comfort level.
- Potential Issues: Spotlights shining into RV windows at night could be disruptive. Lack of knowledge about advertised local businesses.
Prospective visitors to Wills Creek RV Park should weigh the convenience of its location and the friendliness of its staff against the potential downsides such as the lack of shade, closely spaced sites, and lighting issues. For a quick overnight stop, it might suffice, but for a longer, more comfortable stay, exploring other “RV parks near me” in the Fort Payne area might be beneficial. Always consider your specific needs and priorities when choosing an RV park, such as the importance of shade, privacy, amenities, and overall value for money.
In conclusion, Wills Creek RV Park offers a conveniently located option for those exploring Fort Payne, AL, with friendly staff noted by reviewers. However, potential guests should be aware of the lack of shade, closely situated sites, and the possibility of disruptive nighttime lighting. The perceived value at the reported price point is also a factor to consider when comparing with other “RV parks near me.” It is recommended to contact the park directly for the most up-to-date information on amenities, pricing, and policies, and to consider these reviews in the context of your personal preferences and travel needs.

Wills Creek RV Park Reviews
This was our first time staying at Wills Creek Campground. It was easy to get to, nice entrance and office and the two people that were working there were both wonderful. We are surely going to go there again and stay for more than just an overnight as it is nestled in a great area with things to see and do in Fort Payne, AL. Love it!
Apr 09, 2025 · Patricia C BlahnikFairly convenient for just an overnight stop. We didn't unhook. The lady that checked us in was very. Which I appreciated. How ever it is overpriced for what you get. Like I said lady that checked us in was nice. But that was a 5 minute experience. Then the next 10 hours we spent were as follows. No trees for shade. (I noticed a review from 2018 pointed out a lack of trees. So I don't expect them to change that anytime soon.Lot was "fairly" level. and easy to get into and plenty long. Sites are pretty close together. It WAS quiet and I am sure very safe.Experience: So I was looking forward to opening the window and the shade to get a wonderful breeze to sleep by. It WASN'T going to happen because of the "spotlight" in my face. I said something to my wife and she had exactly the same problem. LOL. Of course lights are needed for security, night walks and late arrivals. But point them at the ground!!!"Store" doesn't have much so hopefully you don't run out of something.Sparse but clean.Didn't use the facilities.Experience: Really didn't feel like cooking and since it was just a short overnight and we didn't unhook. So I called the office to ask about the Pizza place that they were advertising in their camp paperwork. I like to support the people who support the campground. The office knew nothing about them. Okay so I went with a chain...just found it a little strange they couldn't tell me about one of their advertisers who delivers to the campground. So the stay was okay but with some attention to detail they could probably bump up their score a bit. But at $70 a night they are just overpriced and thus the score I gave.
Mar 31, 2025 · Charles PlumbergUsed as an overnight stay on way south. Very friendly staff. Easy in, had a pull through that was 80 foot or so long. All hookups worked. Wifi was good as very few over the air channels. Follow directions on website as GPS is wrong. Will stay again if in area.
Jan 02, 2025 · Travling manThis was a convenient location for our stop along our travels. It is close to the freeway, but not so close that you hear the traffic. There is a large distribution center across the street that has some activity all night, but it's fairly far away and we could not hear anything inside our trailer. The spot we had was an easy pull through close to the bathhouse. The spaces are not that roomy, but there was a picnic table. The bathhouse had very nice and roomy showers, one of the nicest ones I have experience at a campground. Being November, there were not a lot of other campers beside the full-time residence; the latter were in a different part of the campground. Hookups were convenient and in good condition. We had good Wi-Fi connection--we stream Pandora for music. The campground in general was very well maintained. I would stay here again if it were along my way.
Nov 17, 2024 · Curtis MusserWe recently stayed in Cabin #3 and had a great experience. The staff was friendly and accommodating, making a late check-in a breeze. The cabin itself is small, clean and well-maintained, providing a cozy atmosphere for our stay.
