Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Southwoods Introduce
For local residents in New York searching for 'camping near me', Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Southwoods, located at 6749 Townline Rd in Byron, NY 14422, offers a facility that has garnered both positive feedback regarding its maintenance and amenities, as well as a significant concern from some visitors regarding a persistent fly problem. Potential campers should consider both aspects when evaluating this campground for their local getaway.
One reviewer described Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Southwoods as a "very nice, and well maintained facility!" This positive initial impression speaks to the care and upkeep of the campground grounds and infrastructure. The reviewer, visiting late in the year and thus not commenting on the swimming facilities, found "everything else is super!" This suggests that outside of the potential seasonal aspect of the pool, the campground offers a generally positive environment for its guests.
A significant highlight mentioned in the reviews is the quality of the utilities provided at Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Southwoods. Campers can expect "great clean utilities," including 50 Amp electrical service, good water pressure, sewer hookups, Wi-Fi access, and cable television. Additionally, the reviewer noted "decent phone" service in most areas of the campground. These reliable and well-maintained utilities are crucial for a comfortable and convenient camping experience, particularly for RVers and those who appreciate connectivity during their stay.
The campground also features a "nicely equipped store, staffed by friendly people." A well-stocked store can be a valuable asset for campers, offering essentials, snacks, and perhaps even souvenirs. The positive mention of friendly staff further enhances the overall experience, as helpful and welcoming personnel can significantly contribute to guest satisfaction.
Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Southwoods appears to have a significant number of "seasonal set ups that are generally meticulously kept." This suggests a community of longer-term campers who take pride in their sites, contributing to the overall well-maintained appearance of the campground. Importantly, the reviewer also noted that these seasonal campers are "cordial to overnighters," fostering a welcoming atmosphere for short-term visitors as well.
One local resident, who stayed at Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Southwoods due to a granddaughter's lacrosse event nearby, expressed a positive intention to return simply "to relax!" This speaks to the peaceful and enjoyable environment that the campground can offer, even to those who initially came for a specific event. The proximity to local areas can be a significant advantage for those seeking a quick and convenient camping escape close to home.
However, a serious concern is raised by another reviewer who stated, "Unfortunately we will not be camping here again" due to a persistent and severe fly problem. This issue has apparently been ongoing for "the third year" and has significantly detracted from their outdoor experience. The reviewer described being plagued by "hundreds" of flies constantly landing on them, their food, and getting inside their camper, making it impossible to eat outside. The sheer number of flies reported is far beyond what might be considered normal in an outdoor setting.
Initially, the campground attributed the fly problem to a nearby farm field. While proximity to agricultural land can sometimes lead to increased insect populations, the fact that this issue has persisted for multiple years and is described as overwhelming suggests a potentially more significant or unaddressed problem. The reviewer's vivid description of "at least 15 on my pant leg and many more trying to land on me" paints a concerning picture of the outdoor environment during their stay.
The severity of the fly problem, as described by this reviewer, ultimately led to their decision not to return to Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Southwoods, despite having camped there for a number of years previously. This indicates that for some visitors, the issue is significant enough to outweigh the positive aspects of the campground's maintenance and amenities.
For local users considering Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Southwoods for 'camping near me', it is crucial to weigh the positive feedback regarding the well-maintained facilities, clean utilities, friendly staff, and welcoming atmosphere against the serious concern raised about the persistent fly problem. The timing of your visit might also be a factor, as the fly issue may be more prevalent during certain seasons or times of the year.
Prospective campers might want to inquire directly with the campground management about the current status of the fly situation and any measures being taken to address it. It would also be beneficial to seek more recent reviews or perhaps connect with other local campers who have visited the campground recently to get a broader perspective on the current conditions.
In conclusion, Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Southwoods offers a well-maintained facility with excellent utilities and friendly service, making it an appealing option for those seeking a local camping experience near Byron, NY. The presence of seasonal campers and the positive feedback from a local resident suggest a welcoming community and a relaxing environment. However, the recurring and severe fly problem reported by at least one long-term visitor is a significant concern that potential campers should be aware of and investigate further before making a reservation. The decision of whether to camp here may depend on individual tolerance for insects and the current status of this issue at the time of планируемого визита.

Very nice, and well maintained facility!I am late in the year, so I will not comment on the swimming facilities, but everything else is super! Great clean utilities: 50 A, good water, sewer, wifi, cable tv and decent phone in most areas. A nicely equipped store, staffed by friendly people. A lot of seasonal set ups that are generally meticulously kept and also cordial to overnighters. It’s close to my home, I only came here as my granddaughter would be playing in a lacrosse event near here, but I will be back, just to relax!
Oct 11, 2024 · DJ KnappUnfortunately we will not be camping here again. After coming here for a number of years we have found the fly problem too much to deal with.Initially when it started we were told that it was an issue with the nearby farm field. But this is the third year where our outdoor experience has been completely ruined by the amount of flies constantly landing on you, your food and getting into the camper. I am talking about hundreds, not just the normal amount you would expect everywhere else. As I am sitting here, there are at least 15 on my pant leg and many more trying to land on me. We cannot eat outside at all. We will not be coming back here.
Aug 27, 2024 · Diana Anderson (lady Di)This is a beautiful, VERY large campground. The grounds are gorgeous. The landscaping is pretty amazing. We stayed for one night in early September as we were passing through, with a full hookup, back in site. The sites are spacious, there is MUCH more room here than at other campgrounds! Lots of playgrounds, clean pool. The bathrooms are older, but very clean. The showers are a bit small, but also very clean. There’s more than one laundry room, but the one we saw was very nice. We received a very warm welcome at check-in. WIFI was solid. We didn’t see the entire campground, but we did walk around. We walked around the permanent sites. There are RV’s as well as modular homes. We didn’t see any RV’s or homes that looked uncared for or falling apart. All the RV’s and homes we saw were in good shape. The lots here are spacious – both for permanent sites and temporary sites. The permanent residents have gardens, sheds, decks, patios and other accessories, all of which have plenty of space and do not encroach onto neighboring sites. Nothing here looks cramped, or crammed in. We did NOT have a problem with flies, as was noted in prior reviews. All in all, an unusually beautiful and spacious campground with great amenities. We loved it. Highly recommended!! We would love to return.
Sep 09, 2024 · M VAll things being simple, I've been a long time camper at this park when Mike and Sue were the owners. In that time we were thought as family and the attention for detail was above expectation. We built a Community relationship with the owners and the other seasonal campers that had made Southwoods the desirable resort that it is. Unfortunately now things are seen as corporate revenue forcing several seasonal campers who have help make this resort a home like community to be forced to leave due to costand pay for there profitable bottom line. Honest profits as a honest company is never a wrong thing but when you raise rates by 75% and hurt good people with fixed incomes you are the problem. Thanks for advertising family owned for families now that you're dismantling my camp family.
Jul 16, 2024 · jeremy yerdonWe chose South Woods Adventure Bound for our year-end camping trip, but it was a disappointing experience. While the staff were friendly upon arrival, the campsite was clearly designed for an RV rather than a tent. If we hadn’t brought air mattresses, it would’ve been very uncomfortable. The surrounding farms must have just sprayed because the entire area reeked of manure, and the flies were unbearable. We barely slept due to train horns blaring nearby all night long. The men’s bathroom and the pools were also not very clean. When we informed the office that we were checking out a day early due to these issues, the staff member just laughed and said he was glad it was all out of his control. We definitely won’t be back, and if this is how all Adventure Bound parks are, we won’t be staying at any of them again. I’m guessing this is why they have a zero refund/cancellation policy.
