Adventure Trails Ohio Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the Bellefontaine, Ohio region, Adventure Trails Ohio, situated at 3299 OH-540, Bellefontaine, OH 43311, USA, offers a campground with a variety of advertised features. They can be contacted at (937) 593-0220 or via mobile phone at +1 937-593-0220. Recent customer reviews paint a somewhat contrasting picture of the experiences at this campground, which potential local users should carefully consider.
According to one enthusiastic reviewer, Adventure Trails Ohio is considered "the best" campground, with friendly and accommodating staff who work diligently to maintain the grounds. This reviewer highlights ongoing renovations to the recreation building and the addition of new features, suggesting continuous improvements. The grounds are described as "amazing," and the presence of three fishing ponds and hiking trails offers opportunities for recreational activities. This positive feedback also mentions events hosted at the campground and a friendly community of fellow campers, particularly during the main camping season.
However, another, significantly more critical review details a multitude of negative experiences over a six-month stay. This reviewer describes difficulties in the initial reservation process, requiring multiple attempts to contact someone. They felt the campground operated with a strict, unwritten set of rules, akin to a Homeowners Association, and perceived a negative attitude towards their family, particularly concerning their daughter's disability. Several specific issues were raised:
- A disagreement about their 11-year-old daughter using the bathroom independently, despite no such rule in the signed agreement.
- The campground allegedly not providing toilet paper in the bathrooms during the off-season, despite a significant number of campers being present.
- Issues with the on-site washer and dryers, with one unit being broken for most of their stay, and accusations of leaving laundry in too long. Poor water quality also discouraged laundry use.
- Management allegedly dictating how they should use their camper regarding water usage during the winter, contrary to their preference for dry camping due to water quality and freezing temperatures.
- Concerns about other campers (couples) using both men's and women's bathrooms.
- The poor condition of the ramp leading to the bathroom, including soft spots and slippery slime from leaking gutters.
This detailed negative review contrasts sharply with the positive feedback, indicating a potentially inconsistent or polarized experience for campers at Adventure Trails Ohio, possibly dependent on the time of year or individual interactions with management.
Based on the combined information, the environment of Adventure Trails Ohio appears to offer a setting with potential for outdoor recreation, including three fishing ponds and hiking trails. The grounds are described as "amazing" by one reviewer, suggesting a well-maintained appearance, although this contradicts the issues raised in the negative review regarding the condition of the bathroom ramp. The presence of a recreation building (under renovation) suggests an effort to provide communal indoor space for activities. The campground is located in Bellefontaine, Ohio, which is situated in Logan County, known for its natural landscapes and proximity to attractions like the highest point in Ohio, Campbell Hill, and other outdoor recreational areas.
The services offered at Adventure Trails Ohio, based on the reviews, seem to include:
- Campsites suitable for various types of camping (though specifics on RV hookups are not detailed).
- Restroom facilities (with concerns raised about toilet paper availability and accessibility).
- Laundry facilities (with reports of malfunctioning equipment and poor water quality affecting their use).
- Three fishing ponds for recreational fishing.
- Hiking trails within or accessible from the campground.
- A recreation building (under renovation), which likely provides a space for activities and gatherings.
- Potentially organized events and a sense of community among some campers, particularly during the main season.
- Staff who are described as friendly and accommodating by one reviewer, but the negative review suggests potential issues with management interaction and rule enforcement.
The features of Adventure Trails Ohio that might appeal to local users include:
- The availability of three fishing ponds, offering a convenient on-site activity for fishing enthusiasts.
- Hiking trails, providing opportunities for exploring the natural surroundings and exercise.
- A recreation building, which, once renovated, could offer additional amenities and a gathering space.
- A potentially friendly community atmosphere, at least according to one positive review.
- Its location in Logan County, which offers access to other regional attractions and natural areas.
However, local users must also weigh these features against the significant concerns raised in the negative review regarding management practices, rule enforcement, facility maintenance (bathroom ramp), and basic service provision (toilet paper, functioning laundry). The discrepancy between the positive and negative feedback suggests a potentially inconsistent experience depending on individual circumstances or the time of year.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Adventure Trails Ohio in the provided text. Local users interested in potential discounts, seasonal rates, or any special offers should contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (937) 593-0220 or +1 937-593-0220. When inquiring, it would be prudent to ask about the current management policies, the status of the recreation building renovations, and to seek clarification on the concerns raised in the negative review regarding bathroom facilities, laundry, and water quality.
In conclusion, Adventure Trails Ohio near Bellefontaine offers a campground with appealing features such as fishing ponds and hiking trails, and some campers have reported positive experiences with friendly staff and a welcoming community. However, a detailed negative review raises serious concerns about management practices, inconsistent service provision, and the condition of some facilities. Local users considering "camping near me" at Adventure Trails Ohio should carefully weigh these contrasting perspectives. It is highly recommended to contact the campground directly to discuss current conditions, policies, and amenities in detail before making a reservation to ensure it meets their expectations for a pleasant and hassle-free camping experience. Seeking more recent reviews from a variety of sources might also provide a more comprehensive understanding of the current state of the campground.

Adventure Trails Ohio Reviews
This campground is the best! I wouldn't go any place else and haven't in years. Not only is the staff friendly and accommodating, but they all work very hard to make this place it's best. They exceed my expectations every time. Not that it needs anything at all, but they're doing renovations to the rec building, plus adding so much more stuff. The grounds look amazing and all of the events, on top of the 3 fishing ponds, and hiking trails give you the opportunity to always have something to do.Hats off to all of the staff and the new owners who have put so much time and energy into making the campground into one of the best places in Logan county! Shout out to all of the campers, who are always fun and friendly. Can't wait to see everyone this season. Happy camping everyone!
Mar 31, 2025 · Wild CattIf I could leave positive review of this place I would, but I simply can’t do that. From the very beginning this place was difficult. Trying to reserve a spot at the campground was difficult. It took multiple calls/texts to get ahold of someone. This was the situation for my family unless there was some kind of “issue” the campground had with my family. This place from day 1 felt like a HOA that would make rules up and nit-pick over anything. They did not like the fact my daughter had a disability. They did not like the fact we were a family. They also did not like that we tried to hold them to basic standards that any place open to the public should abide by. Many issues happened at this campground over the 6 months we were there. Almost all of the issues were from rules that were not included in the 10+ page rules/lease agreement we signed. The first issue that the campground had was the fact my daughter (11) wasn’t allowed to use the bathroom by herself (no rules signed that state kids need to be with adults in bathroom). I was told that only her mother would be allowed to take her to the bathroom as well. It would not be ok to walk her down and wait outside of the bathroom. The next issue that I had was over again issues with the bathroom. The onsite manager told us that the campground does not provide toilet paper during the winter/off-season. Mind you there are at least 20+ campers on site for the winter/off-season. I also noticed that the bathroom had no heat until almost December. Both issues were brought up to Aaron from their sister campground and they were mostly fixed (off and on the bathroom would go weeks without toilet paper).Third issue was the washer and dryers on site. This was a nice perk to be able to do laundry on site. Well would have been great if they worked. One washer and dryer was broke for almost 100% of our stay here. Also our family would get the blame for any time there was a load in the washer or dryer too long. We only did laundry here one time, because I valued having clean clothes (water quality was terrible).Fourth issue I had was the fact management dictated to us how we were to use our camper. Normally our family would dry camp through the winter as our camper was a three season camper without heated/enclosed tanks. Management told us we needed to use water at our camper as they said everyone else does it. I told them I would use water in my camper when the weather got better because there was just a ridiculous amount of sand in the water and the sulfur smell was just too much in winter (could not run filters in sub freezing temps).I could go on to list many of the other issues with this campground such as couples showering in both men’s and women’s bathrooms (yes multiple issues here). The fact the ramp to the bathroom was in terrible shape. Multiple soft spots in the wood and the gutters would leak onto the ramp creating a slime that was slick. The list of issues that happened at this campground was just too much. My family was happy to move on from this place. So if you are looking for a HOA level campground that is also a part spot from April-September, this place is for you. If you are looking for a place that is fun to camp at and enjoy time as a family, look elsewhere. State parks are so much better and they cost far less.
Apr 08, 2025 · Richard FinzelMy husband and I have been staying here for almost 2 years now!!! We love this place! Management is wonderful, and they are always here if you need anything! They go out of their way to make their campers happy and safe! It's a place I call home! Of course, they have had issues with other campers. However, they take care of business and won't let people stay, which cause problems for everyone. The review left by Holly on here is an absolute lie! I'd be in the women's restroom, and her husband would just walk in like they had no respect for anyone. Me, along with other campers here, have witnessed their misbehavior, which led to them getting kicked out! They are nasty people, and I'm much happier and feel safer with them gone! Their prices are outstanding and there is so much to do. They are doing upgrades right now to make this place even better!!! Don't believe everything you read on Google and Facebook! If you don't stay here because of someone being bitter about being kicked out, then you are missing out! The restrooms are so nice, and it's more private, so you don't feel like you are exposed when showering! They have so many cool events during summer with so much room for kids to play! If you are looking for a comfortable clean and safe campground to stay at, this is your place!!!

Mar 31, 2025 · Bobby FrancisIf you haven't camped here, you're definitely missing out! The management; Bobby and Chelsie care so much about the Campers and the grounds, and it clearly shows. There are several activities planned through the season, with new activities plans for the 2025 camping season. Our family loves Adventure Trails and we know you will to!
