Benton KOA Journey Introduce
For local adventurers and travelers passing through Southern Illinois, finding the right "camping near me" can make all the difference in your journey. Benton KOA Journey, situated at 1500 N Du Quoin St, Benton, IL 62812, USA, offers a convenient and potentially enjoyable camping experience. Easily reachable and well-regarded by some visitors, this KOA location presents itself as a viable option for various camping needs.
One of the frequently highlighted features of Benton KOA Journey is its ease of access, particularly for those with larger recreational vehicles. According to a recent review, the campground offers "easy in out" access and boasts "extra long" sites capable of accommodating big rigs. This is a significant advantage for RV travelers seeking a hassle-free overnight stop or a longer stay in the Benton area. The same reviewer also noted a positive experience with a late check-in, appreciating being greeted and escorted to their site, indicating a commitment to customer service even outside of typical hours.
However, the same review also pointed out a potential drawback for some campers: the proximity of certain campsites to sweet gum trees and the interstate. The falling sweet gum tree balls were mentioned as a minor inconvenience, and the noise from the nearby interstate could be a factor for those seeking ultimate peace and quiet. The reviewer suggested that the side of the campground with the pond might offer a quieter environment, indicating that the layout of the park varies and that some sites may be more desirable than others in terms of noise levels and surrounding vegetation. This suggests that when booking, it might be beneficial to inquire about site locations relative to the interstate and the pond, if tranquility is a priority.
Adding a unique and somewhat unexpected amenity to the camping experience at Benton KOA Journey is the presence of a barbershop within the camp store. This unusual feature has been praised by at least one repeat visitor, who considers it "better than most others." This could be a significant convenience for travelers on extended trips or anyone looking to freshen up during their camping stay. The presence of a well-regarded barbershop suggests that the camp store at Benton KOA Journey likely offers more than just basic camping supplies.
As part of the KOA (Kampgrounds of America) network, Benton KOA Journey likely adheres to certain standards of service and amenities that campers have come to expect from the brand. While specific details about all available services at this particular location aren't provided in the given information, KOA campgrounds generally offer a range of facilities to enhance the camping experience. These often include well-maintained restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, and potentially recreational areas such as playgrounds or swimming pools (though it's important to verify if a pool is available at this specific location). Given the mention of a pond, it's possible that there are opportunities for fishing or simply enjoying the waterfront scenery, although this would need to be confirmed with the campground directly.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Benton KOA Journey's location in Benton, Illinois, makes it a readily accessible option for weekend getaways or short camping trips. Its proximity to the interstate also makes it a convenient stop for those embarking on longer journeys through the region. The positive feedback regarding easy access and accommodating staff further enhances its appeal for both local and transient campers.

Benton KOA Journey Reviews
Easy in out. Was a late check in but still greeted and escorted to our site which was extra long and accommodated our big rig. Only negative was the sweet gum tree balls right out our front door and close to the interstate. The side with the pond would be quieter. Will stay again and thank you for being there.
Mar 27, 2025 · L SchOne of my favorites in Illinois. Stop there every time to and from Florida. They have a Barber shop in their camp store which is better than most others.
Apr 24, 2025 · Mitch HageeThis was a wonderful campground! Everyone who works there was so nice, and the sites were great! They were very large with a nice yard, and they were very level. We will definitely stop here again when we are in the area!
Dec 24, 2024 · HeidiStaff was awesome. Spent one night and it snowed overnight and staff came to our site and cleaned off our steps from the snow. Above and beyond staff normally would do. Thanks
Dec 02, 2024 · Laura MckinneyFriendly staff. Level and roomy sites. Good WiFi. Great for an overnight stop as there is some road noise from Interstate. But not a problem as we had the air on.
