Big Timber Campground Introduce
For local campers seeking a tranquil and conveniently located escape within the 'camping near me' category, Big Timber Campground, situated at 15045 Big Timber Rd, King George, VA 22485, USA, offers a wooded retreat in the heart of Virginia's Northern Neck. This campground appears to provide a blend of natural seclusion and accessibility to essential amenities, making it an attractive option for those looking to get away without being too far from civilization. While the reviews highlight positive aspects such as friendly management and a well-maintained property, one review also mentions a potential interpersonal issue that prospective visitors should be aware of.
The environment of Big Timber Campground is described as being "tuck back in the middle of the woods," indicating a setting characterized by natural beauty and a sense of seclusion. This wooded location suggests that campers can expect a peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by trees and the sounds of nature, away from the noise and bustle of main roads. This kind of environment is often highly sought after by those looking to relax and reconnect with the outdoors during their camping experience. The natural shade provided by the trees can also enhance comfort, especially during warmer months.
Despite its secluded feel, Big Timber Campground is also noted for its convenient proximity to necessary supplies. The review mentions that it is "close enough to the stores we need to get supplies," which is a significant advantage for campers who may need to replenish food, fuel, or other essentials during their stay. This balance between a secluded natural setting and easy access to amenities enhances the overall convenience and appeal of the campground for a variety of campers.
One of the consistently praised aspects of Big Timber Campground is the friendly and effective management. A reviewer specifically mentions that the "new manage is a great friendly guy" who is "doing a wonderful job cleaning up the place and maintaining the property." This positive feedback about the management suggests that campers can expect a well-cared-for environment and helpful staff who are dedicated to ensuring a pleasant stay. Good management can significantly contribute to a positive camping experience by addressing concerns promptly and maintaining the facilities to a high standard.
The fact that the new management is actively involved in "cleaning up the place and maintaining the property" is a significant positive. This indicates an ongoing effort to improve and preserve the campground, which can lead to a more enjoyable and comfortable experience for visitors. A well-maintained campground often features clean campsites, functional facilities, and an overall sense of care, all of which contribute to camper satisfaction.
However, one of the reviews raises a potential concern regarding an "ongoing resident that lives there" named James Roche, who the reviewer advises others to "stay away" from, describing him as "scary" due to him "hitting on you." This is a serious piece of feedback that potential visitors should be aware of. While this seems to be an isolated incident reported by one reviewer, it is important for the campground management to be aware of such concerns and for visitors to exercise caution and report any uncomfortable interactions to the management. The mention of this issue does not reflect on the campground itself or the management's efforts, but it is a piece of information present in the reviews and therefore must be included in an objective introduction.
Given the limited information available in the reviews, details about specific services and features of Big Timber Campground are somewhat scarce. However, based on the nature of campgrounds, it is reasonable to infer the presence of basic amenities such as individual campsites, potential for water and electrical hookups (though not explicitly mentioned), and possibly restroom and shower facilities. The wooded environment suggests that most campsites would likely be situated amongst the trees, offering shade and a natural ambiance. Campers should contact the campground directly at the provided phone numbers, (540) 775-9630 or +1 540-775-9630, to inquire about the specific types of sites available (e.g., tent sites, RV sites), the amenities offered at each site, and the availability of any communal facilities.
The positive aspects highlighted in the reviews – the secluded wooded location, the convenience to stores, and the friendly and effective new management focused on cleanliness and maintenance – suggest that Big Timber Campground has the potential to be a very pleasant camping destination for local users. The natural setting offers a peaceful retreat, while the proximity to amenities ensures convenience. The positive remarks about the management provide reassurance that the campground is being well-cared for and that visitors are likely to encounter helpful staff.
The absence of any mention of specific promotional offers suggests that the campground relies on its natural appeal, convenient location, and positive management to attract visitors. For local users seeking a reliable and well-maintained wooded camping experience that is also conveniently located near essential supplies, Big Timber Campground presents a compelling option. However, prospective visitors should be mindful of the concern raised in one review regarding a resident and exercise appropriate caution.
In conclusion, Big Timber Campground in King George, VA, offers a wooded and secluded camping experience that is conveniently located near stores. The campground is praised for its friendly and effective new management, who are actively working to clean up and maintain the property. While the overall sentiment is positive, one review mentions a concerning interaction with a long-term resident, which visitors should be aware of. For local users looking for a natural retreat with the convenience of nearby amenities, Big Timber Campground is worth considering. It is recommended to contact the campground directly for detailed information about site availability, specific amenities, and any policies in place regarding visitor safety and resident interactions.

Jun 17, 2023 · Darci HallLiving here full time since August 2019 lot rent is great property needs a face lift as for the big holes in the road and some areas need landscaping but it's a great location and the lots give you plenty room . Love it here..
Jan 04, 2020 · Trish SnowNot for the "occasional RV'er" and is truly more of a trailer park with long term older broken-down-looking campers. Junk cars and trash everywhere. I did not even get out of my vehicle - solo female RV'er - didn't feel safe.Don’t take my word for it, look at the attached pictures and see for yourself.
Oct 31, 2020 · Jana JacksonIt's nice because it's out in the woods and no one really bothers you. It's lame because they don't even have an outhouse. A sheetz is about 5 mins down the road though.
