Aqualand Marina and Campground Introduce
For local users in Maryland searching for 'camping near me' in the vicinity of Newburg, Aqualand Marina and Campground, located at 9700 Orland Park Rd, Newburg, MD 20664, presents a situation that warrants significant caution based on recent customer reviews. The feedback available online paints a concerning picture of the facilities, staff, and overall management of this establishment. Potential visitors should carefully consider these negative experiences before making any decisions to stay at Aqualand Marina and Campground.
One reviewer described Aqualand Marina and Campground as the "Worst place I have been." This strong condemnation is supported by a list of serious issues encountered during their stay. The most critical of these is the frequent lack of water, stating, "Often no water." This fundamental necessity for any campground is reportedly unreliable at Aqualand, which would undoubtedly lead to significant discomfort and inconvenience for guests. Furthermore, the reviewer found the campground to be "very run down," suggesting a lack of maintenance and potentially dilapidated facilities. This can impact the overall safety, comfort, and aesthetic appeal of the camping experience.
The same reviewer also raised concerns about the staff, describing them as "shaddy." While this term is subjective, it implies a lack of trustworthiness or professionalism, which can create an uncomfortable and potentially insecure environment for campers. A negative perception of the staff can significantly detract from the overall experience, regardless of the physical condition of the campground.
Adding to the list of negative incidents, the reviewer recounted an alarming experience involving a staff member: "Lawnmower guy could walk straight and was driving the Lawnmower and ran into my car." This incident raises serious questions about the safety and professionalism of the staff operating equipment within the campground. Damage to personal property due to staff negligence is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the management and oversight of the facility.
Perhaps the most troubling aspect of this review involves financial mismanagement. The reviewer alleged, "They also charged me after I left over $2000 twice 'by mistake,' which they wouldn't refund and I had to dispute with my card company. Don't stay here." This accusation of significant overcharging and a refusal to provide a refund is a major red flag. Such billing practices are unethical and can cause considerable financial distress and inconvenience to customers, necessitating intervention from their card company to resolve the issue. This strongly suggests potential problems with the campground's administrative and financial processes.
Another recent review echoes the severe dissatisfaction expressed above, stating, "Missed last 2 RECENT reviews before we stayed here. Big mistake." This indicates a pattern of negative experiences reported by multiple recent guests, reinforcing the concerns raised in the first review. The reviewer explicitly advises others to avoid the campground, highlighting the significance of their negative experience.
This second reviewer also disputes the classification of Aqualand as a campground, stating, "Like others said, this is a trailer park, not a campground. Disgusting." This suggests that the environment may be more akin to a long-term residential trailer park rather than a transient campground catering to short-term visitors seeking a recreational experience. The term "disgusting" further underscores the poor condition of the facilities and the overall environment.
Specific issues contributing to the "disgusting" assessment include "2 sights per owners," which is unclear in its implication but suggests a potentially crowded or poorly managed layout. The presence of "Freshly mowed long grass with hidden dog crap" indicates a lack of attention to cleanliness and basic grounds maintenance, posing a health hazard and detracting from the aesthetic appeal of the camping areas.
The bathroom facilities are also heavily criticized, described as "Filthy bathrooms." Clean and sanitary restrooms are a fundamental expectation in any campground, and reports of uncleanliness raise serious concerns about hygiene and the overall maintenance standards of Aqualand Marina and Campground.
The environment is further negatively impacted by "Very loud guys working on vehicles," suggesting a disruptive and noisy atmosphere that detracts from the peace and quiet typically sought in a camping experience. The presence of "Sketchy people walking by" raises safety concerns and contributes to a feeling of unease and insecurity among guests, as explicitly stated by the reviewer: "Did not feel safe!"
Faced with these conditions, the reviewer made the decision to leave prematurely: "We bailed and asked for refund. Says he’ll give me one night. I want it all. 4 of us, 2 rigs." The fact that they felt compelled to leave due to the unacceptable conditions speaks volumes about the severity of the problems encountered. The dispute over the refund further echoes the negative financial dealings reported by the first reviewer, suggesting a reluctance to address customer dissatisfaction appropriately.
Considering the platform category 'camping near me', local users searching for campgrounds in the Newburg, MD area should be extremely wary of Aqualand Marina and Campground based on the overwhelmingly negative recent reviews. The issues reported are not minor inconveniences but rather fundamental problems related to basic utilities (water), cleanliness (bathrooms, grounds), safety (staff behavior, sketchy individuals), and financial practices (overcharging, refunds). These are critical factors that can severely impact the camping experience and should not be taken lightly.
The environment at Aqualand Marina and Campground is described as run down, potentially more akin to a poorly maintained trailer park than a campground, with issues of long grass, hidden dog waste, and disruptive noise. The services appear to be unreliable, with frequent water outages reported. The staff is described negatively, with allegations of being "shaddy" and even causing damage to guest vehicles. The billing practices are highly questionable, with accusations of significant erroneous charges and refusal to provide refunds.
There is no mention of any positive features or promotional information in the recent reviews. The strong and consistent negative feedback serves as a clear warning to potential visitors. Local users looking for a safe, clean, and enjoyable camping experience in the Newburg, MD area would be well-advised to consider alternative campgrounds with more positive and reliable reputations.
Given the severity of the issues raised in the reviews, it would be prudent for local users to thoroughly research other options for 'camping near me' in the Newburg, MD area. Checking multiple review sources and seeking recommendations from other campers might help in finding a more reputable and enjoyable place to stay. The experiences reported at Aqualand Marina and Campground suggest a high risk of a negative and unsatisfactory camping experience.
While the phone number for Aqualand Marina and Campground is (301) 259-2222 or +1 301-259-2222, contacting them might not provide an accurate representation of the current conditions and management practices based on the strong negative feedback from recent guests. It would be advisable to prioritize firsthand accounts from other campers and look for campgrounds with consistently positive reviews regarding cleanliness, safety, amenities, and customer service.
In conclusion, based on recent customer reviews, Aqualand Marina and Campground near Newburg, MD, appears to be a facility with significant and concerning issues related to its environment, services, staff, and financial practices. Local users searching for 'camping near me' should exercise extreme caution and strongly consider alternative options to avoid the negative experiences reported by recent visitors. The descriptions of run-down facilities, unreliable utilities, questionable staff, and potential billing problems paint a picture of a campground that is currently failing to meet basic expectations for a safe and enjoyable camping experience.

Oct 04, 2024 · Tammara TiffanyWorst campground you could possibly go too! Employees are very disrespectful the moment you walk in the door. Its as if your inconveniencing them by trying to get them to do what they are paid to do! The owner sits in the office as well and he is just as rude! Very disgusting bathrooms are filled with bugs. Its not even really a campground, its been turned into more of a trailer park. People are loud all times of the night. Alot of break ins happening so if you stay make sure you lock your car doors and take anything of value inside with you. Absolute worst place to be!! They also do not like black people! I watched as they treated a customer differently because of the color of their skin. If you want to have a good camp stay in this area, just go to Goosebay in Welcome, Md. Office people are super nice as is the owner. Sits directly on the water. Super peaceful and an amazing environment. Aqualand is a trash place and i do not recommend anyone to go there!!
May 21, 2024 · Lexxi ButlerNot really a campground. It's more like a trailer park. The location may look great on a map, easy access, right on the water. But look closer and it's right across the highway from a huge industrial plant/power plant 🏭 . The facilities were not in the best shape and the office has hours that make bankers blush. If you are an industrial worker needing a place to stay for a while, this might fit the bill. But if you are a family looking for a place to vacation, there are way better choices!
Mar 24, 2023 · ScottCheap, but noisy. Right next to the highway so that's all you hear. The lady we checked in with seemed like she wanted to be anywhere but there and it felt less than welcoming. There is definitely a trailer park feel to the place. Overall not bad, especially because it was a cheap place to pitch the tent, but not sure we'd come back.
