Black Rock Mountain State Park Campground Reviews
We had a wonderful stay at this campsite. The grounds were beautiful and well-maintained, and the bathrooms were impressively clean. We really enjoyed our time here and will definitely be coming back!Although we missed the visitor center for check-in, we ended up at the campsite office instead. The lady there was extremely kind and helped us check in right away, saving us the trip back to the visitor center.Overall, we highly recommend this campsite!
Apr 30, 2025 · DhongDhong ThoptenWhat a beautiful campground, especially in October when the leaves are changing. Each reserved lot has access to electricity, a picnic table, and a nice fire pit.Dogs are more than welcome. In fact, most of the people there brought one or two dogs. The lots vary in size from canvas tent and car all the way to travel bus. It's great for a weekend trip away from the city noise!
Feb 24, 2025 · Ellen WelshHigh on a mountain top!Outstanding state park located in Clayton, Georgia that has beautiful views of the town below along with nice camping sites and trails.
Nov 17, 2024 · Tim OThis is a beautiful Georgia State Park, the highest elevation state park in GA. We first had a reservation for January but a snowstorm at our home in Western NC forced a cancellation. In February on our way home from Moccasin Creek State Park we drove through Black Rock Mountain. The winter views are incredible but the steep and winding road is closed during icy weather so plan ahead and check the weather !The campground has 2 loops winding around the ridge top with views in many directions. Each campsite has water and electric. Many favor shorter RVs or tent camping because the roads are narrow and winding . When reservations are made vehicle/ RV length is required. There are 44 regular campsites and 12 walk in tent sites as well as 10 cottages ( 5 brand new, another 5 under construction) and 4 back country campsites. The restrooms are clean and have showers. Black bears are in this area so it was reassuring to see the dumpsters are enclosed inside 2 buildings in the campground. Firewood is available for $5/ bundle . The campsites are gravel and have a picnic table and fire pit as well as a lantern hook pole. Some have amazing views while others offer more privacy, surrounded by rhododendron. All sites have tall pines and / or deciduous trees.Trails can be accessed by walking from the campground. There are 5 trails within the park , two very short and easy and the 7.2 mi James E Edmond trail loop the most difficult. We really enjoyed the ADA - Hi Falls trail the evening we arrived and the following day we hiked the Tennessee Rock trail loop using a connecting trail from the campground.
Apr 30, 2022 · Hiker ShirlKitty and I set out to climb the Mountain. Everything was great, but your ears close up, like on the ✈️ because of the elevation. There are camping grounds, 🏕 places for RV's and trailers. Plenty of 🦌deer waterfalls, and Scenery. We had a blast!! There is a gift shop at the top, and a scenic overlook station 🚉 equiped with a view finder.Well worth visiting, and especially during the Fall, when the colors are all in bloom in 🌳 🌲 .This is Erin, she is the Park ranger. The dalmatian is Moe, with his owner Elise, and her husband. We had a great ride, straight up!!! Coming down, your ears will pop, unexpectedly, and all of a sudden you can hear again. It's actually quite fun.Come check out Black Rock Mountain, you won't be disappointed. Happy travels!See you there,Carolyn Santos
