There was a lot to like about it, including the creek running along the back of the campsite. The restroom was nice too. But my wife and I had just watched "Cocaine Bear" the night before, and woke up the next morning to see what were clearly bear claw marks on the tree right outside our tent. Not sure if it had come in the night or not. We knew it was a bear because the claw marks were above eye level.😂😱 - Clay K

Blackmore Campground Introduce

For those searching for "camping near me" in the Bozeman, Montana region, Blackmore Campground, located at Fs 6953, Bozeman, MT 59718, USA, offers a natural and potentially adventurous camping experience. Situated in a forested area, this campground provides a setting where the beauty of the Montana wilderness can be enjoyed, with the soothing presence of a creek running along at least some of the campsites.

One of the appealing features highlighted by a visitor is the presence of a creek directly adjacent to the campsite. The sound of flowing water can enhance the camping ambiance and provide a sense of tranquility. Additionally, the availability of a restroom facility is noted as a positive aspect, contributing to the basic comfort of campers during their stay.

However, Blackmore Campground is located in an area known to be inhabited by wildlife, including bears. One reviewer shared a startling experience of waking up to discover what were clearly identified as bear claw marks on a tree right outside their tent. The height of the marks, above eye level, strongly suggested the presence of a bear. While it is unclear whether the bear approached during the night, this incident serves as a crucial reminder for all campers in the region to exercise caution, be aware of their surroundings, and take necessary precautions for bear safety. This includes proper food storage, carrying bear spray, and being mindful of potential wildlife encounters.

Another significant point raised by a visitor concerns the clarity of campsite availability. The reviewer encountered a situation where the majority of the campsites were marked as "open" but also had handwritten notes indicating they were "closed 7/10," without any further explanation. This lack of clear information created confusion for the camper. Ultimately, the reviewer chose one of the two sites that were completely marked as open and reported having an enjoyable experience, describing the location as "nice, quiet and shaded."

The experience of this reviewer suggests that while Blackmore Campground offers a pleasant natural environment with shade and a quiet atmosphere, there may be inconsistencies or a lack of clear communication regarding campsite availability. Potential campers might want to be prepared for possible ambiguity in site markings and perhaps seek clarification upon arrival if discrepancies are observed.

Based on the limited information available from these reviews, Blackmore Campground appears to be a rustic, forest campground with the attractive feature of a creek running alongside some sites. The presence of restroom facilities adds a degree of convenience. However, it is essential for visitors to be aware of the potential for wildlife encounters, particularly with bears, and to take all necessary safety precautions. Additionally, the reported confusion regarding campsite availability suggests that flexibility and perhaps direct communication with campground management upon arrival might be beneficial.

In summary, if you are looking for "camping near me" in a natural, shaded setting near Bozeman, MT, with the added appeal of a creek, Blackmore Campground could be a consideration. The quiet atmosphere reported by one visitor suggests a peaceful retreat. However, the confirmed presence of bears in the area necessitates a high level of awareness and adherence to safety guidelines. Furthermore, potential campers should be prepared for possible uncertainties regarding campsite availability based on recent experiences shared by visitors.

Due to the limited information and the conflicting signals regarding campsite availability, it is highly recommended that prospective campers seek additional information or clarification from the relevant authorities or campground management before planning a trip to Blackmore Campground. This will help ensure a safer and more predictable camping experience in this potentially beautiful but also potentially confusing wilderness setting.
