Services and Amenities: While White Pines emphasizes a backcountry experience, essential amenities are provided for your comfort and convenience. One notable feature, highlighted by past visitors, is the well-maintained toilet facility. This thoughtful amenity ensures a more comfortable stay without compromising the natural setting. Please note that as a backcountry campground, you should be prepared for a more rustic experience. It's advisable to bring your own water filtration system or be prepared to treat water sources, and practice Leave No Trace principles diligently to help preserve the pristine environment for future visitors.
Features and Highlights: The standout feature of White Pines Backcountry Campground is its emphasis on tranquility and immersion in nature. The limited number of campsites fosters a sense of community among those who appreciate a quieter camping experience. The 1.5-mile walk to the sites naturally filters out those seeking a more conventional, car-accessible campground, ensuring a more peaceful atmosphere for those who make the journey.
The easy access to the beautiful Lake Michigan beach is another significant draw. Imagine spending your days swimming in the refreshing waters, building sandcastles, or simply relaxing on the shore as the sun dips below the horizon. White Pines Backcountry Campground Reviews
Nice little campground. There are 6 sites that'll comfortably hold 2-3 tents. It's about a 1.5 mile walk from the parking lot to the sites. Once you're there, it's about 1/4 mile to the beach. Nice, covered trails that cover ~8 miles of hiking. Well maintained toilet!
Oct 07, 2024 · Cory TruesdellBeautiful campsites with an amazing beach close by. We enjoyed it very much. Just a note... if you're going to camp here, please be respectful of your fellow campers and don't stay up talking loudly until 2:30am with your blazing supernova light on. People come here to escape into nature's serenity. Have your camping party somewhere else.
Aug 18, 2022 · Rachel GunnettOk, so if you take Peterson Rd, down towards the Peterson Recreational Beach Area you have a well maintained dirt road. The campsite is really nice and tucked away with a really easy hike. The hike is about 1.5 miles to the campsite and then you are about .5 mile from the your own private beach off of Lake Michigan. Would and will recommend to my friends.
Aug 09, 2022 · Ruairi McGreevyThe campground is nice and well maintained. We enjoyed the short hike there and our one night stay. We came here late on 4th of July weekend but there were still campsites available.
Jul 06, 2021 · Fedor Nikolaev@jill, here's a picture of that f150 that got stuck.... It was mine. AAA won't touch the area, and that little jeep will put your big vehicles to shame.Don't try driving through here, might be worth the hike.
