PML Campground Introduce
For individuals and families exploring options within the "Camping Near Me" category, PML Campground, located on Ferretti Rd, Groveland, CA 95321, USA, offers a basic and rustic camping experience. Situated in the vicinity of Pine Mountain Lake, this campground provides a unique blend of natural surroundings and certain amenities, while also presenting some limitations and specific rules that prospective campers should be aware of. This introduction aims to provide an objective and detailed overview of PML Campground, synthesizing available customer reviews to describe its environment, services, features, and key considerations for visitors.
The environment of PML Campground is largely described as "rustic and quiet," appealing to those who prefer a more traditional and less developed camping experience. The campground is structured into different sections to accommodate various camping needs: "At the top of the campground, there’s a mix of full hookups and just water spouts." This indicates that some sites cater to RVs with comprehensive utility needs, while others provide essential water access. Conversely, "The bottom is tent camping only and must have shared water spouts," highlighting a more communal and primitive setup for tent campers. The overall ambiance is one of tranquility, making it suitable for campers seeking a peaceful retreat away from the noise and crowds of more commercialized parks. However, the natural features, such as a nearby creek, might not always be as expected. One reviewer noted, "The creek is dry," which can significantly impact the natural appeal and recreational opportunities associated with a water feature, especially during drier seasons or periods of drought.
In terms of services and facilities, PML Campground offers essential amenities, though their condition and accessibility require attention. Restrooms and showers are available, but their access is controlled, requiring "door codes." This measure, while potentially adding a layer of security, also necessitates campers to remember or obtain these codes for access. While one reviewer found the "Restroom was clean and plenty of TP" for another specific campground experience, another more recent review for PML Campground critically stated, "the women’s restrooms are dirty." This conflicting feedback suggests that the cleanliness of facilities might be inconsistent or vary depending on the time of visit or recent maintenance efforts. For campers, especially those without self-contained units, the condition of shared restrooms and showers is a vital factor in their comfort and satisfaction. The presence of "PML security drives through a couple of times a day" is a service that enhances safety and peace of mind, particularly "when camping alone," indicating a proactive approach to maintaining a secure environment within the campground.
A significant feature of PML Campground, and a point of critical importance derived from reviews, relates to access to Pine Mountain Lake. One reviewer explicitly warns, "on their website, they give you misleading information. You’re not allowed to go in the lake if you’re not a resident so be aware when you book." This is a crucial piece of information for any camper planning to visit PML Campground with the expectation of enjoying lake activities. While the campground is in the vicinity of Pine Mountain Lake (PML), direct access to the lake for non-residents appears to be restricted. This means that activities such as swimming, boating, or fishing in the lake might not be available to all campers, despite the campground's proximity. This disparity between advertised information and actual access is a significant point of concern for managing expectations and can lead to disappointment if not properly understood prior to booking.
Other features include the availability of different types of sites – those with full hookups for RVs and those for tent camping. This flexibility caters to a range of camping styles, although the specific site sizes are not detailed. The rustic nature implies that while basic amenities are present, campers should expect a less developed experience compared to resort-style campgrounds. The quiet atmosphere is a feature that appeals to those looking for a peaceful escape. The address, Ferretti Rd, Groveland, CA 95321, USA, places the campground in a region known for its natural beauty and as a gateway to Yosemite National Park, which could be an appealing factor for those looking to explore the wider area, even if lake access is limited. The phone numbers, (209) 962-8615 and +1 209-962-8615, provide direct contact for inquiries and reservations.
For promotional purposes within the "Camping Near Me" category, PML Campground would likely highlight its peaceful, rustic setting and the security patrols. It would appeal to campers seeking a basic, quiet retreat with the convenience of some essential facilities (restrooms, showers, water spouts) and the option of full hookups. However, honesty about the restrictive lake access for non-residents is paramount to avoid misleading potential visitors, as clearly indicated by a past review. The campground should also ensure consistent cleanliness of its facilities to meet camper expectations. While specific goods or services for sale beyond campsite rentals are not mentioned, the primary offering is the camping experience itself. Potential visitors interested in booking from dates such as "8/30/24 to 9/02/24" (as mentioned in a review) should proactively confirm all rules and access policies before making a reservation.
In summary, PML Campground on Ferretti Rd, Groveland, CA 95321, USA, offers a "basic," "rustic," and generally "quiet" camping experience for those exploring "Camping Near Me." It provides a mix of full hookup sites and tent-only sites, with some water access. Key services include restrooms and showers (requiring codes) and regular security patrols. However, significant points of concern for prospective campers include the potential for a dry creek, reported issues with dirty women's restrooms, and, most critically, the restriction of lake access for non-residents, which contrasts with potentially misleading online information. For campers prioritizing a quiet, secure, and basic experience with an awareness of these limitations, PML Campground remains an option, but thorough pre-booking inquiry is strongly advised, especially concerning lake access and current facility conditions.

This campground is a basic campground. At the top of the campground, there’s a mix of full hookups and just water spouts. The bottom is tent camping only and must have shared water spouts. It’s rustic and quiet with door codes required for the restrooms and showers. PML security drives through a couple of times a day which is nice when camping alone

Sep 03, 2024 · Alan SantosWe were severely disappointed with our stay at this campsite. On the first night the power went out and didn't come back on until well into the next day which caused us to lose $60 in groceries we just bought, my husband lost 2hrs of work on his desktop computer, and we couldn't sleep all night because of how hot it was. By 10am the next morning the power was still out, but we couldn't waste the day we planned to spend at the national park just waiting see if the power would return so we had to leave again without refrigeration or a/c which caused some of my expensive cosmetics to melt while siting in the heat all day. The restrooms near us were also closed so we had to inconveniently drive across the park to shower and use the restroom, which was not communicated when we made the reservation or upon confirmation. Not all spots are easy to pull in, either, if you have a low rig. It took four tries to get into our spot and there are some very steep hills you will have to navigate. While it was cheap, it wasn't worth the inconveniences and we wish we would have stayed elsewhere.
Aug 07, 2021 · Sarah StoermerBeautiful and peacefull place to stay. Only there was nobody around from the park, we had no codes for toilet and shower and did not know what to do.
Oct 18, 2023 · Mariska van DelftNice campground with bathrooms and showers. We camped here for a white water rafting trip down the tuolumne river. It was nice and clean and the camping spots had plenty of room. Our spot didn't have any electricity or running water but we had planned on that.
