Will avoid at all cost forFuture travels. When I arrived, this was nothing to my expectations or like the pictures on the website, very misleading. While the park itself had moments of peace, it came with its own chaos. The sites are very muddy, unlevel, and rv’s are closely placed together. E year full time RV owner with past seasonal experience. I had issues booking the stay (due to not knowing when the park was actually opening from the winter mess it left behind) with pre arrival complications and multiple disagreements with the owner and grounds keeper during my stay. The two who run this park (owner/tenant friend) are 80, have weak health, and one has dementia. Also had issues during and post stay with the groundskeeper knocking on my door all hours of the day to tell me things he’s told me prior. Both try to run the park independently and contraindicate each other with what they’ve told rv owners and the park “rules”. I’ve been to many resorts as well as many private owned parks and this one takes first place for the worst I’ve stayed at. Including parking, management and communication. The owner is a business man and all about numbers but has no return on investment put back into the business/park itself. Sewer and water lines are randomly placed and rigged up, including electric hook ups. Very nosey, and back yard like set ups for the sites. Parking, not allowed at your rv because of the “grassy” area yet has you park approx 200 foot facing the pond, on the grassiest area of all. I’ve came to my tow vehicle multiple times to find geese perching and pooting up the truck. The beach that is boasted has horrible access and has trash all over it to include tire rims/old rusted up fire pits, dead/washed up tree trunks/limbs, very rocky, few sand areas to sit and enjoy. For the seasonal price, I found other places that do not have beach access but are nicer and cheaper. Also, you have to maintain your own lawn (mowing) while lodging here which is not disclosed until after you’ve paid, signed, and parked. The entry “gate” is the house driveway in which the owner resides in, and will watch for your tow vehicle to come and go to flag you down upon entry/exit. So keep the doors locked, windows up, and keep driving to the next park, you’ll have a happier stay. - Jack Franklin

Brookside Beach Introduce

For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Westfield, NY area, Brookside Beach, located at 8862 NY-5, Westfield, NY 14787, USA, presents a lakeside camping option. They can be reached at (716) 326-3096 or +1 716-326-3096 for inquiries. Based on recent customer reviews, the experience at Brookside Beach appears to be somewhat polarized, with one reviewer expressing significant dissatisfaction and another describing it as a beloved "home base." It is essential for potential visitors to consider both perspectives when evaluating this campground.

The environment of Brookside Beach is undeniably defined by its proximity to Lake Erie, as suggested by its name and the positive review mentioning a "private beach" and the "sound of the waves" lulling guests to sleep. The opportunity to enjoy a lakefront setting and potentially engage in activities like "picking lake glass" indicates a unique natural feature that appeals to some. However, the negative review paints a contrasting picture, describing the beach access as "horrible" with "trash all over it," including "tire rims/old rusted up fire pits, dead/washed up tree trunks/limbs," and being "very rocky" with "few sand areas to sit and enjoy." This discrepancy highlights a potential inconsistency in the upkeep and quality of the beach area.

Regarding the campground itself, the negative review raises concerns about the condition of the sites, describing them as "very muddy, unlevel," and noting that RVs are "closely placed together." This could be a significant drawback for RV owners seeking more spacious and well-maintained sites. The reviewer, identifying as a year-full-time RV owner with past seasonal experience, found the conditions to be the "worst I've stayed at," citing issues with parking, management, and communication. Conversely, the positive review focuses on the enjoyment of having a "home base to reconnect with relatives and friends," suggesting that for some, the social aspect and location outweigh any potential shortcomings in the physical infrastructure.

The services and management of Brookside Beach also receive contrasting feedback. The negative review details "pre arrival complications" with booking due to uncertainty about the park's opening after winter, as well as "multiple disagreements with the owner and grounds keeper" during the stay. Concerns were raised about the age and health of the owner and groundskeeper, including an alleged issue with dementia affecting one of them, leading to contradictory information and frequent, repetitive interactions. The reviewer also mentions "sewer and water lines are randomly placed and rigged up, including electric hook ups," suggesting potential issues with the utility infrastructure. A particularly unusual aspect mentioned is the requirement for guests to "maintain your own lawn (mowing)" without prior disclosure. The entry "gate" being the owner's driveway and the owner allegedly watching and flagging down vehicles upon entry/exit are also noted as negative aspects contributing to an uncomfortable experience.

In contrast, the positive review does not comment on the management or services, focusing instead on the enjoyment of the location and the peaceful atmosphere. The term "quite, serene home away from home!" suggests that for some visitors, the ambiance and the ability to connect with loved ones are the primary draws, and they may have had different experiences with the management or found the conditions acceptable.

The features of Brookside Beach, as perceived through these reviews, are its lakefront location with a private beach (albeit one described very differently by the two reviewers), its potential as a seasonal or longer-term "home base," and the fact that it is under the management of its owner and a groundskeeper. The negative review highlights several undesirable features, including muddy and unlevel sites, closely placed RVs, potentially unreliable utility hookups, a poorly maintained beach, the unusual requirement for guests to mow their own lawns, and what was perceived as intrusive management practices. The positive review emphasizes the private beach, the sound of the waves, and the serene atmosphere as key features contributing to a beloved experience.

There is no explicit promotional information provided in the reviews. However, the very fact that one reviewer describes it as "one of our favorite places" could be seen as a form of positive endorsement, suggesting that for certain individuals or under certain conditions, Brookside Beach offers a desirable camping experience. Conversely, the extensive negative review serves as a strong caution, detailing numerous issues that potential visitors should be aware of. Local users considering Brookside Beach for "camping near me" should carefully weigh these contrasting experiences. The significant discrepancies in the descriptions of the beach and the overall campground conditions suggest a need for further investigation or perhaps recent changes that have not been reflected in these reviews.

In conclusion, Brookside Beach in Westfield, NY, offers a lakefront location with a private beach that is highly valued by at least one reviewer for its tranquility and recreational opportunities like lake glass picking. However, another recent reviewer experienced significant issues, describing muddy and unlevel sites, closely packed RVs, potentially problematic utility hookups, a poorly maintained beach with safety hazards, unexpected maintenance responsibilities for guests, and concerning management practices. Local users searching for "camping near me" should approach Brookside Beach with caution, considering the strong negative feedback alongside the positive sentiment. It would be prudent to seek more recent reviews or contact the campground directly at (716) 326-3096 or +1 716-326-3096 to inquire about the current conditions, management, and policies before making a reservation. The stark contrast in experiences suggests that individual expectations and the specific site or circumstances might significantly influence the overall stay at Brookside Beach.
