Campsite 51 Introduce
For local residents in and around Oldtown, Maryland, searching for "camping near me," Campsite 51, located in Oldtown, MD 21555, USA, presents a potential option for your next outdoor getaway. While the provided information is based on limited customer reviews, these insights can offer a glimpse into the environment and some aspects of the camping experience at this location.
Based on the available reviews, the environment of Campsite 51 appears to be generally regarded as "nice." One reviewer notes that efforts have been made by people to maintain the cleanliness of the area, specifically mentioning the removal of glass. This suggests that there is a community or individual interest in preserving the natural appeal of the campsite. However, the same review also raises concerns about the behavior of some visitors, specifically mentioning the improper disposal of human waste and the presence of toilet paper around trees. This indicates that while the inherent environment might be pleasant, the actions of some campers can detract from the overall experience and highlight the importance of responsible camping practices.
In contrast, another reviewer expresses a positive sentiment, stating, "Love this place." This suggests that Campsite 51 offers aspects that are highly enjoyable for certain visitors. Further elaborating, this reviewer mentions that the "site is plenty large enough to accommodate a large group with more than 5 vehicles." This is a significant piece of information, indicating that Campsite 51 possesses at least one campsite capable of hosting substantial groups, making it an attractive option for family reunions, gatherings of friends, or other large camping parties seeking "camping near me" with ample space.
Considering the limited information, we can infer some potential services and features of Campsite 51 based on common offerings at campgrounds, especially those capable of accommodating large groups:
- **Spacious Campsites:** As explicitly mentioned in one review, at least one campsite is large enough for multiple vehicles and a large group, suggesting ample area for tents and activities.
- **Natural Environment:** The initial comment about the environment being "nice" implies a setting that is likely natural and potentially scenic, although specific details about the landscape (e.g., wooded, open field, near water) are not provided.
- **Accessibility for Groups:** The capacity to host large groups with multiple vehicles suggests that the campsite is likely accessible and can handle the logistical needs of larger parties.
- **Potential for Shared Amenities:** While not explicitly mentioned, campgrounds often provide basic shared amenities such as designated fire pits or rings, picnic tables, and possibly communal water sources or restroom facilities. However, the negative review regarding waste disposal suggests that formal restroom facilities might be lacking or insufficient, emphasizing the need for campers to practice Leave No Trace principles, including proper waste disposal by digging catholes at least 6-8 inches deep and 200 feet away from water sources, trails, and campsites.
The reviews do not provide any specific details about unique features of Campsite 51 beyond its size and the general perception of a "nice" environment. The negative comments serve as a reminder of the importance of responsible camping and the potential impact of inconsiderate behavior on the natural surroundings and the experience of other campers. For local users considering Campsite 51, it would be prudent to be prepared for potentially rustic conditions and to prioritize ethical camping practices.
Currently, there is no promotional information available for Campsite 51 in the provided data. Local users interested in camping here would need to seek out additional information, potentially through online searches, local camping forums, or by contacting any known management or local authorities associated with the area. Information regarding booking procedures, fees (if any), specific rules and regulations, and the availability of amenities would be essential for planning a trip.
For local residents searching for "camping near me" that can accommodate large groups, the positive review regarding the size of Campsite 51 makes it a noteworthy option to investigate further. However, the concerns raised in the other review about waste disposal highlight the need for potential campers to be aware of the possible conditions and to be committed to responsible outdoor practices. It might also be beneficial to look for more recent reviews or information to ascertain if the issues mentioned have been addressed or if they are ongoing concerns.
In conclusion, Campsite 51 in Oldtown, MD, appears to be a local camping area with the significant advantage of offering spacious campsites suitable for large groups with multiple vehicles. While one reviewer found the environment "nice," another raised important concerns about the improper behavior of some campers regarding waste disposal. For local users considering Campsite 51 for their "camping near me" needs, further research is recommended to gather more comprehensive information about the facilities, rules, and current conditions to ensure a positive and responsible camping experience. The capacity for large groups makes it a potentially valuable resource for those planning larger outdoor gatherings in the Oldtown area.

Campsite 51 is always nice. People have helped pick up all the glass that was here. Now rude people aren't digging a hole and burying their waste. It's disgusting. Every tree has toilet paper behind it. Dig a hole people!

Feb 19, 2022 · Jason AdamsDon’t listen to Brandon J. Moving here from Texas and it only took about 4 hours to find out where to obtain the permit. (Exit 64 is headquarters) $10 isn’t really a lot and it’s to help keep the park in good shape. They have to clean up the “freeloaders” trash who tries to camp for free.
Jul 08, 2022 · Jeff PieperAlright so Three important things about this “campground”-it’s permit camping only, your guess is as good as mine on how and where that permit is obtained..-there’s a 10$ fee that needs to be paid b4 arriving. Again no clue how, where or even why..-there was a forest ranger driving around. Not sure how strictly those permit/fee rules are applied. So yeah, glad I drove all the way down there just to find out it’s another BS “primitive campsite” loaded with fees and permit restrictions. Don’t waste your time if your looking to camp for the night for free..
