Based on the available customer reviews, Caves Campground provides a blend of natural beauty and distinctive accommodation options, making it a potentially appealing destination for local users seeking something beyond traditional camping.
Environment and Atmosphere:
One reviewer who stayed in a tipi during mid-February described the campground as a place where they still "had a blast" despite the cold weather. This suggests that the environment itself has an inherent appeal that transcends the seasons. They specifically mentioned "hiking to the waterfall" and "exploring the grounds," indicating that Caves Campground is situated in a location with natural features worth exploring. The fact that they enjoyed the campground even when they "had the camp ground to ourselves" speaks to a potentially tranquil and immersive natural setting.
Another guest who stayed for three nights with their husband also reported having a "great time." They highlighted the campground's proximity to a "beautiful waterfall," reinforcing this as a key environmental feature. Additionally, they noted that the campground is about 40 minutes away from Amish country, positioning it as a convenient base for those interested in exploring this cultural and scenic region of Ohio. The overall atmosphere seems to be one that combines natural beauty with a sense of peaceful retreat, with the added draw of nearby attractions.
Services and Amenities:
While the reviews don't provide an exhaustive list of services, they do offer some insights:
- Unique Accommodation (Tipis): One of the standout features is the availability of tipi camping. The reviewer who stayed in a tipi mentioned being provided with "heaters" and "heated blankets," suggesting that the campground goes the extra mile to ensure comfort even during colder times of the year. This unique lodging option could be a significant draw for those seeking an alternative to traditional tents or cabins.
- Access to a Waterfall: The mention of hiking to a waterfall and the campground being beside one indicates that this is a readily accessible natural attraction for guests.
- Grounds for Exploration: The reviewer who enjoyed exploring the grounds suggests that the campground has a layout and natural features that invite discovery.
It's reasonable to assume that Caves Campground also offers standard camping amenities such as campsites (for tents and possibly RVs, though this isn't explicitly stated), restroom facilities, and potentially water access. However, the focus of the reviews is more on the unique aspects of the experience.
Features and Highlights:
- Tipi Camping: Staying in a tipi offers a distinctive and memorable camping experience, setting Caves Campground apart from more conventional campgrounds.
- Waterfall Proximity: The presence of a beautiful, accessible waterfall is a major natural highlight, providing opportunities for hiking and enjoying scenic views. For local users looking for "camping near me" with natural beauty, this is a significant plus.
- Explorable Grounds: The campground seems to have enough space and interesting features to warrant exploration, enhancing the overall outdoor experience.
- Proximity to Amish Country: Its location about 40 minutes from Amish country makes it a convenient option for those wanting to combine a camping trip with a visit to this culturally rich area.

The opportunity to stay in a cozy tipi, even in colder months thanks to provided heaters and heated blankets, is a significant draw. The easy access to a beautiful waterfall and the chance to explore the grounds appeal to nature lovers and those who enjoy a bit of adventure. Furthermore, its convenient location relative to Amish country makes it an ideal base for a weekend getaway that combines natural exploration with cultural immersion.

Caves Campground Reviews
Granted we went camping in the tipi mid February, it was cold but we still had a blast. Hiking to the waterfall, exploring the grounds and enjoying the camp ground to ourselves. We were provided heaters for the tipi and heated blankets that kept us nice n' cozy. We definitely look forward to returning in the summer!

May 26, 2018 · A “Parkair1501” PIt was good. Nice river, small waterfall. Stayed in 1 of 2 tepees
Aug 27, 2019 · Adam LReserved a campsite through HipCamp. They show only two sites available to book. The first one being called One on the Shore and the second site listed as just #2. We reserved “One on the Shore” only to arrive and someone was in the site that we reserved. Upon contacting the owner he said that we could choose any other site. Which they do have about 12 sites up near the entrance and the sites on further back are for their seasonal campers. We were pretty upset as we had been looking at this HipCamp for awhile and was excited to be on the shore of the river. The other sites put us either right up against the people who set up in our site, on down from them near some old teepees or back away from the river on the other side of the driveway. I did notice their “original” listing had several reviews and then a not so good one about bugs. The original HipCamp listing was then taken down with all the reviews and all of the reviewers pics and then a new one was put up with only a handful of photos. I should’ve known to not book here just from that alone. But alas…we will never book here again. Very misleading and also deceptive. One should get the campsite that they booked. Sure we could’ve picked one of the other sites, but it’s not what we paid for. It appears as it’s basically first come first serve even though the listing makes it seem like you either have site 1 or site 2 to choose from. Hopefully our money is refunded...
