CHATTER CREEK GROUP SITE (recgovnpsdata) Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" that can accommodate a large group? The CHATTER CREEK GROUP SITE, located at 4905 Icicle Rd in Leavenworth, WA, is an excellent option for local gatherings. You can reach them at (509) 548-6816 or their mobile number, +1 509-548-6816. This group site, comprised of what are typically sites 10, 11, and 12 of the broader Chatter Creek Campground, is specifically designed to host larger parties, comfortably fitting up to 45 people as indicated on recreation.gov, where reservations can be made.
The layout of the campground makes accessing the group site straightforward. Upon arrival, a fork in the road presents itself: taking the right will lead you around the main camp loop, while heading left past a gate will bring you directly to the group camping area. This separate access enhances the sense of privacy for larger groups. Essential amenities are conveniently located near this "Y" intersection, including two vault toilets, a dumpster for waste disposal, and access to potable water, ensuring the basic needs of your group are met.
The environment of the CHATTER CREEK GROUP SITE is described as "lovely" by those who have visited. The natural landscape offers engaging features such as rocks and logs that can be climbed on, adding a playful element to the surroundings, especially for children. A "rushing creek" flows nearby, providing a picturesque backdrop and the soothing sounds of nature. Additionally, the presence of "plenty of downed trees for firewood" suggests opportunities for campfires, a quintessential part of the camping experience (though always be sure to follow local regulations regarding firewood collection and use). The three individual sites that make up the group area (10, 11, and 12) are connected by trails, making it easy for members of your group to move between the different spaces.
A significant feature of site 11 within the group area is a shelter equipped with a fireplace. This provides a communal space for gathering, especially in less favorable weather, and offers an area to conveniently prep and serve food for the group. This shelter enhances the functionality and comfort of the group site, making it well-suited for shared meals and activities.
While the overall experience of the campground is highly praised, one reviewer noted that the drive can be a bit challenging. Specifically, once the pavement ends just before Ida Creek, the road becomes "very rough." Despite this, the reviewer in a full-sized car was able to make it to the campground, albeit with a few instances of scraping the bottom of the vehicle. This information is crucial for local users to consider when planning their trip, especially regarding the type of vehicle they will be using.

CHATTER CREEK GROUP SITE (recgovnpsdata) Reviews
This group site consists of sites 10, 11, and 12 of the Chatter Creek Campground. All together, it easily has enough room for 45 people, as stated on recreation.gov (where it can be reserved). When you pull into the campground, there is a Y: right takes you around the camp loop, left takes you past a gate to the group sites. There are 2 vault toilets, a dumpster, and potable water near the "Y."The sites are lovely! There are rocks and logs to climb on, a rushing creek, and plenty of downed trees for firewood. The shelter at site 11 has a fireplace and an area to prep and serve food. All 3 sites have connecting trails.Well worth the drive, although once the pavement ends right before Ida Creek and the road gets very rough. I made it up in a full-sized car, although I did scrape bottom a few times.
