Chinquapin Hill Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the Fayetteville, Pennsylvania area? Chinquapin Hill Campground, located at Fayetteville, PA 17222, USA, offers a promising option for local users seeking a comfortable and convenient outdoor experience. With contact phone numbers (717) 352-2161 and +1 717-352-2161, this campground presents a blend of modern amenities and access to natural attractions. Based on recent customer reviews, Chinquapin Hill Campground boasts significant recent upgrades and spacious campsites, making it a noteworthy consideration for your next local camping adventure.
One of the most positive aspects highlighted in the customer feedback is the recent refurbishment of Chinquapin Hill Campground. Reviewers specifically mention "new, excellent paving" throughout the campground, indicating a significant investment in infrastructure that likely enhances the overall experience, particularly for those with RVs or trailers. This attention to detail suggests a commitment to providing a well-maintained and accessible environment for all campers searching for "camping near me" with good road conditions within the facility.
Furthermore, the campground has undergone a complete renovation of its "bathrooms/shower houses," which are described as "totally redone," "shiny," and "clean," even earning the praise of being "probably the best campground bathrooms ever" by one satisfied camper. For local users who value clean and modern facilities when choosing their "camping near me" locations, this is a major advantage. Well-maintained and hygienic restrooms and showers can significantly contribute to a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience, making Chinquapin Hill Campground a strong contender in this regard.
In terms of campsite features, reviewers noted that the sites are "relatively spacious," providing ample room for setting up camping equipment, parking vehicles, and enjoying outdoor living areas. This is a significant benefit for both tent and RV campers, as cramped sites can detract from the overall experience. The availability of "full hookups" is also a notable feature, catering specifically to travel trailers and RVs that require electrical, water, and sewer connections. Local users with such vehicles searching for "camping near me" with comprehensive utility services will find this particularly appealing.
The location of Chinquapin Hill Campground also offers access to natural attractions. The reviews mention that the "state park area also has some nice trails," indicating that campers can easily explore the local scenery and enjoy hiking opportunities. This proximity to state park trails adds value for outdoor enthusiasts looking for "camping near me" that provides recreational activities beyond the campground itself. Exploring these trails can offer opportunities for exercise, wildlife viewing, and immersion in nature, further enhancing the camping experience.
However, the reviews also point out some less positive aspects that local users should consider. One significant concern is the "background traffic noise from the nearby US 30," which was described as "noticeable and detracting." For campers seeking a completely tranquil and secluded "camping near me" experience, this noise could be a drawback. It's important to note that proximity to major roadways often comes with some level of ambient noise, and the impact of this noise can vary depending on individual sensitivity and the specific location of the campsite within the campground.
Another point to be aware of is that "some of the sites were not as level as one would hope," requiring "effort to level your camper." This is a common challenge in many campgrounds, particularly those located on naturally sloping terrain. While one reviewer mentioned being able to level their site (site 11), the general comment suggests that campers, especially those with RVs or trailers, should be prepared to use leveling blocks or other equipment to ensure their setup is stable and comfortable. For tent campers, uneven ground can also affect sleeping comfort.
Despite the potential drawbacks of traffic noise and slightly uneven sites, another reviewer described the campground as "very peaceful and quiet," which seems to contradict the noise concern. This discrepancy could be due to the specific location of the campsites within the campground, the time of year, or individual perceptions of noise levels. It's possible that some areas of the campground are more shielded from traffic noise than others. The reviewer who found the campground peaceful also noted that their site (site 11) had "a bit of a slope" but they were able to level it.
Currently, no specific promotional information is available for Chinquapin Hill Campground based on the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts for longer stays, seasonal offers, or any other promotions should contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (717) 352-2161 or +1 717-352-2161. Inquiring about current rates and any special deals is always recommended when planning your "camping near me" trip.
In conclusion, Chinquapin Hill Campground near Fayetteville, PA, offers a compelling option for local users seeking "camping near me" with modern amenities such as recently refurbished and exceptionally clean bathrooms, excellent paving, and spacious sites with full hookups. The proximity to state park trails adds to its appeal for outdoor enthusiasts. However, potential campers should be aware of the possibility of background traffic noise from US 30 and the need to level their campers on some sites. The seemingly contradictory feedback regarding noise levels suggests that individual experiences may vary. Local users are encouraged to consider these factors and contact the campground directly for more information on site availability, pricing, and any current promotions to make an informed decision for their next camping getaway.

Chinquapin Hill Campground Reviews
My wife and I camped in our travel trailer 2 nights in September. On the postive side, the sites are relatively spacious, we were able to reserve a site with full hookups, and the campground has been recently refurbished with new, excellent paving and totally redone bathrooms/shower houses. The bathrooms were shiny and clean, probably the best campground bathrooms ever. The state park area also has some nice trails. On the less positive side, we were surprised at the background traffic noise from the nearby US 30 - it was noticeable and detracting. I also felt some of the sites were not as level as one would hope, so effort to level your camper is required.
Sep 18, 2021 · Paul DamerellThe Campground was very peaceful and quiet. My site 11 had a bit of a slope, I was able to get level.
May 21, 2024 · Morris LaneWe enjoyed tent camping here but the campsites were very cramped and unmaintained. I suggest booking no more than 2 people/1 tent per site. The fire rings were on a slope and water spigots weren’t running. The Bathrooms were great though and firewood and ice was easy to purchase on site.
Jun 12, 2021 · C MBeautiful campground and park area only 15 miles from Gettysburg. Day use area has a pool and playground. Good hiking trails.
Sep 09, 2024 · Garry BunnellA great campground in southern PA and close to Gettysburg. Lots of nice trails for hiking and a lot of history in the area. My family has been going here for over 50 years and we have always enjoyed it. The new bathhouses and upgraded sites are very nice, but they don't quite have the same charm that the old ones did.
