Copperfield Campground Introduce
Looking for a "camping near me" destination that has been a cherished family tradition for over 25 years? Consider Copperfield Campground, located at 49815 Lakeshore Rd, Oxbow, OR 97840, USA. You can reach them at (208) 388-2231 or their mobile number +1 208-388-2231 for inquiries and reservations. Based on enthusiastic customer reviews, Copperfield Campground offers a well-maintained riverside setting with a range of amenities, making it a highly recommended spot for a relaxing outdoor getaway on the Snake River.
The environment of Copperfield Campground is consistently praised for its beauty and convenient access to the Snake River. Situated right on the riverbank, the campground offers beautiful spots with the soothing sounds and scenic views of the water. One reviewer specifically mentioned a "nice area to play in water," suggesting opportunities for swimming and enjoying the river. The presence of "green grass" indicates a well-maintained and pleasant ground cover at the campsites. Unlike many campgrounds with gravel sites, Copperfield boasts "all paved spots," which can enhance comfort and reduce dust. The campground's location near the Snake River also positions it within proximity to the stunning landscapes of the Hells Canyon area. While the immediate surroundings offer natural beauty and river access, it's crucial to note the campground's remoteness. As highlighted by a visitor, there are no stores or gas stations for many miles around, emphasizing the need for self-sufficiency in terms of supplies.
The services and amenities at Copperfield Campground are designed to enhance the comfort and enjoyment of its visitors. While one reviewer noted that the showers were not open at the time of their visit, the restrooms are consistently described as "clean," which is a significant factor for a pleasant camping experience. The availability of clean restrooms contributes to the overall well-being of campers. For recreational activities, the campground features a "horse shoes playing area," providing an opportunity for friendly competition and outdoor fun (though bringing your own horseshoes might be advisable). The direct access to the Snake River allows for various water-based activities, including boating and fishing, especially in the area before the Hells Canyon dam. Additionally, the campground's location makes it a convenient starting point for many raft tours that begin nearby after the Hells Canyon dam, offering adventure seekers an exciting option for exploring the scenic Hells Canyon.
A key feature of Copperfield Campground is its well-kept nature, with all paved campsites providing a clean and comfortable base. The direct access to the Snake River is a major draw, offering opportunities for swimming, boating, and fishing. The consistently clean restrooms are another significant advantage. The presence of a horseshoe playing area adds a recreational element. Furthermore, its proximity to the starting point of Hells Canyon raft tours caters to those seeking more adventurous activities. However, it's essential to be aware of the significant caveats mentioned by a reviewer. Firstly, cell service and WiFi are reportedly "pretty bad," making it unsuitable for those who need to stay connected for work or other reasons. Secondly, the campground's remoteness means there are no nearby stores or gas stations, requiring visitors to come fully prepared with fuel and all necessary supplies. The nearest towns for filling up are Halfway (approximately 20 miles to the west) and Cambridge (approximately 20 miles to the south). The lack of roads from the north or east further emphasizes its isolated location.
The consistent positive feedback regarding its status as a "family favorite for over 25 years" and the "super well-kept" nature of the campground speaks volumes about its quality and appeal. The beautiful spots, green grass, and clean restrooms contribute to a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience. The direct access to the Snake River for recreation and the proximity to Hells Canyon rafting tours offer a blend of relaxation and adventure. However, the limitations regarding connectivity (WiFi and cell service) and the remote location requiring self-sufficiency are crucial factors for potential visitors to consider.
For local users searching for "camping near me" who prioritize a well-maintained campground right on the Snake River with opportunities for water activities and relaxation, Copperfield Campground is an excellent choice. The paved campsites and clean restrooms enhance comfort, and the horseshoe area adds to the recreational options. Its proximity to Hells Canyon rafting tours is a bonus for adventure enthusiasts. However, it is vital to be aware of the poor cell service and lack of WiFi, as well as the remote location that necessitates bringing all necessary supplies, including fuel and food, as there are no nearby conveniences. Plan accordingly by filling up in Halfway or Cambridge before arriving.
In conclusion, Copperfield Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained "camping near me" experience right on the Snake River in a remote yet scenic part of Oregon. Its paved campsites, clean restrooms, river access, and horseshoe area make it a family favorite. The proximity to Hells Canyon rafting tours adds an adventurous element. However, potential visitors must be prepared for limited connectivity and the need to be entirely self-sufficient due to the lack of nearby services. If you value a riverside location and are comfortable with the remoteness and limited connectivity, Copperfield Campground provides a highly recommended and enjoyable camping retreat.

Copperfield Campground Reviews
This place has bern a family favorite for over 25yrs! Highly recommended. Showers are not but open but restrooms are! Beautiful spots, green grass clean restrooms, close to river, nice area to play in water, horse shoes playing area.
May 31, 2021 · amber deckerSuper well-kept campground, all paved spots, no gravel -- right on the Snake River. We liked it a lot, except for one evening out of three we stayed, the bugs were pretty bad. But it was great the rest of the time. There are many raft tours that start nearby after the Hells Canyon dam, but plenty of boating / fishing before the dam too.Caveat #1: If you need WiFi or Cell service, you will be out of luck, it's pretty bad. We didn't need it so no biggie for us. But don't try "Work from home" or "remote school" there.Caveat #2: there are no stores or gas stations for many miles around, so be sure to have a full tank before you get there, and a cooler with food. Fill up in the town of Halfway ~20 miles if you arrive from the West, or Cambridge ~20 miles if you arrive from the South. There is no North or East roads that go to this area, it's pretty remote.

Jul 11, 2023 · Brenda MeeksFantastic Campground! Lush, green grass and immaculate sites. RV sites and tent sites. No full hook-ups, but elec and water at the RV sites. Walk down to the Snake River and do some fishing or just float. Sprinklers run every night so keep your belongings off the grass.
Jul 05, 2021 · Angela ChurchWe stopped over for a night on our road trip and were super happy with the campground. The grounds are huge, well manicured and right against the Snake River. We tent camped and our space was very roomy and nicely set up with a paved parking spot, concrete picnic table, and a metal fire ring. Would love to stay here again.
