Arbor Vitae Campground Introduce
For local adventurers seeking a quintessential "camping near me" experience in the heart of Wisconsin's Northwoods, Arbor Vitae Campground, located at 10545 Big Arbor Vitae Dr, Woodruff, WI 54568, USA, offers a welcoming and well-maintained retreat. Situated near the charming town of Minocqua, this campground has garnered positive reviews for its friendly atmosphere, clean facilities, and versatile camping options. You can reach them directly at (715) 356-5146 or +1 715-356-5146 to plan your stay in this picturesque region.
One reviewer, a first-time RV camper on a two-month journey, described their experience at Arbor Vitae Campground as feeling "like a chapter right out of a camping novella," highlighting the campground's appealing ambiance. This positive initial impression speaks to the welcoming environment that Arbor Vitae Campground cultivates for both seasoned campers and newcomers alike.
A significant advantage of Arbor Vitae Campground is its "versatile sections," catering to a wide range of camping preferences. Whether you prefer the simplicity of tent camping, the convenience of a trailer, or the full amenities of a large RV, this campground has a spot to accommodate your needs. This inclusivity makes it an excellent choice for diverse groups and families with varying camping styles.
The personal touch provided by the campground's management, Sue and David, is consistently praised. The reviewer described them as "super friendly," noting that interacting with them "feels like visiting old friends." Such warm and helpful management can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, creating a welcoming and community-oriented atmosphere where guests feel comfortable and valued.
For RV campers, Arbor Vitae Campground offers well-equipped sites. The reviewer specifically mentioned their spot having "50amp power, sewer, trash and water for a single price." This all-inclusive setup simplifies the camping experience for RVers, providing essential utilities in an easily accessible manner. The campground's location "near I-70" (note: this might be a typo in the review as I-70 is not in Wisconsin; likely referring to a local highway or the ease of access from major roads) also makes it convenient to drive in and out, particularly for larger vehicles.
One of the most cherished aspects of Arbor Vitae Campground is its peaceful nighttime environment. The reviewer noted "quiet nights" where "the sky is full of stars, and most nights are clear." This offers a quintessential Northwoods experience, allowing campers to unwind in tranquility and enjoy the beauty of the night sky, far from the light pollution of urban areas.
The sense of community at Arbor Vitae Campground is another appealing feature. The reviewer recounted playing a card game with local folks, feeling "right at home." This opportunity for social interaction and connecting with the local community can enrich the camping experience, providing a sense of belonging and camaraderie.
Another reviewer who visits the "north" area a couple of times a year specifically recommends Arbor Vitae Campground, highlighting its cleanliness ("campground is clean") and convenient location ("Great location"). The proximity to a "bar is walking distance and has a nice dock" offers additional recreational and social options for campers. Furthermore, the reviewer praised the cleanliness of the facilities, stating that "showers and bathrooms are cleaned daily," which is a significant factor in ensuring a comfortable and pleasant stay.
While the positive aspects of Arbor Vitae Campground are numerous, the reviews also provide a few points to consider. The campground "shuts down by mid-October because it gets too cold," indicating a seasonal operation. This is important for those planning late-season camping trips in the area.
The reviewer also mentioned that "driving in Minocqua means going around 35 mph," describing the town as "slow." While this isn't a direct reflection on the campground itself, it provides context about the pace of the surrounding area, which might be a welcome change for those seeking a relaxed environment but something to be aware of for those accustomed to faster-paced urban areas.
Lastly, the distance to large retail stores like "Target or Costco" being a "2-hour drive away" suggests that while Arbor Vitae Campground offers a peaceful natural setting, access to major shopping centers requires a significant drive. This highlights the importance of planning and bringing necessary supplies, especially for longer stays.
Based on the comprehensive feedback from reviewers, Arbor Vitae Campground offers a delightful "camping near me" experience with the following key features:
- Versatile Camping Options: Accommodating tents, trailers, and RVs.
- Full Hookup RV Sites: Including 50amp power, sewer, trash, and water at a single price.

Jun 04, 2024 · Steve ContrerasWhat a amazing property! This 40 acre low key campground had everything you really need, beach area piers. Playground, Swim area and a beautiful crick that was sure to entertain even their oldest guest. The other guest were super friendly. The ducks were so much fun entertaining all week long! The bathrooms were very clean and cleaned daily, the sites are huge the ducks did I mention the ducks!! We really enjoyed shutting down and getting in touch w nature. The owner Brad was super nice as well! We will be sure to visit the next time we are in the area!!
Jul 28, 2019 · Denise GCute place. Full hook ups. The creek running through is really adorable. The play area for kids could be better. Not much for kids to do when raining. Bar with good food just a short walk down the road. Had good fishing, and nice docks and good spot to swim. Everyone was friendly, even made friends to camp with in the future. We will come back.
May 30, 2020 · Amber BoyerWe really enjoyed this campground. My wife and daughter along with my father-in-law and mother-in-law camped here for 3 days towards the end of August. We had sites that were right along the creek that runs through the campground. To be honest this was one of the coolest things as we got to relax and enjoy the running water and my daughter could watch the couple of ducks that hung out there each day. When other campers with children came in there was a lot of kids “running through the creek” but let’s be honest what else would one expect? We even saw a couple of bald eagles 🦅 in the campground. The bigger bathroom was super clean and the showers had a lot of hot water. They also had a family bathroom up there which was nice for bathing our 18 month old.We rented the pontoon boat on the Saturday we were up there and it was a good price. The only issue with it was the fact that it “chugged out” from time to time and the engine would fail. It would re-start up though right away.In the end, this was a great campground and we decided to make it an annual tradition to stay at the campground as we really enjoyed it.The owner was really nice and would deliver wood to the campsite each day as well. He was there to help whenever you needed it which was great.I wonder what the cost of a perm ant campsite is per year & if it comes with a boat slip?
