Foxfire Campground Introduce
Looking for the perfect "camping near me" in the Woodruff, Wisconsin area? Consider Foxfire Campground, located at 11200 Fox Fire Rd. This campground offers a lakeside setting with a variety of amenities and features that cater to different camping preferences. Based on customer reviews, Foxfire Campground presents a blend of positive experiences, particularly regarding spacious campsites and lake access, alongside some considerations regarding site selection and privacy.
Spacious Campsites and Flexibility: One of the frequently highlighted positives of Foxfire Campground is the generous space offered at individual campsites. According to a reviewer, the sites provide "plenty of space" to accommodate campers of various sizes. Whether you have a large tent and require additional room for an easy-up shelter over the picnic table, or you need space for parking your SUV, many sites at Foxfire Campground appear to offer the flexibility you need to set up comfortably. Each site is equipped with the fundamental camping necessities: a fire ring for enjoying campfires and cooking, and a picnic table for outdoor meals and gatherings. This ensures that basic needs are met for a convenient camping experience.
The Allure of Fox Lake: A significant draw of Foxfire Campground is its access to Fox Lake. One enthusiastic reviewer described it as "one of the prettiest Lakes I've ever seen," emphasizing its relatively small size, which contributes to a non-busy and peaceful atmosphere. For those who appreciate waterfront camping, securing a site down by the lake seems to be highly recommended for the scenic views. The lake itself offers opportunities for various water-based activities, enhancing the overall camping experience.
Water Recreation and Rentals: Foxfire Campground caters to water enthusiasts by providing several options for enjoying Fox Lake. For those who don't have their own equipment, the campground offers rowboats, paddleboards, and kayaks for rent. This makes it easy for all campers to get out on the water and explore the lake at their own pace. Additionally, the campground features separate piers designated for fishing and swimming, ensuring that different lake activities have dedicated areas. The swimming area is particularly praised for its sandy bottom that extends far out into the lake, making it a safe and enjoyable space for swimmers of all ages.
Potential Considerations for Lakeside Sites: While lakeside sites are generally coveted for their views, one reviewer shared a less positive experience with a specific lakeside site (98). They reported that the boat rental and boat storage area for seasonal campers were directly in front of their site, significantly obstructing the lake view. This led to disappointment, as they felt the description of the site having a lake view was a "massive stretch." Furthermore, they experienced a lack of privacy due to other campers walking through their site to access their boats and the lake. This highlights the importance of potentially inquiring about the specific layout and surrounding features of a lakeside site when making a reservation, especially if privacy and unobstructed views are priorities.
Privacy in a North Woods Setting: The same reviewer who experienced issues with their lakeside site also noted a general lack of privacy throughout the campground, stating that for a "north woods campground, you get absolutely no privacy." This suggests that while campsites may be spacious, the overall layout or the density of campers during peak times might not provide the level of seclusion some campers expect in a more natural setting. If privacy is a key factor in your "camping near me" search, it might be beneficial to inquire about site spacing and vegetation between sites when booking.
Office Staff Availability: Another point of feedback from a reviewer was an issue encountered during checkout on a Sunday when the office staff was reportedly gone. This led to confusion for a cabin renter who did not know where to return the keys. While this seems to be an isolated incident, it's worth noting that staffing availability, particularly during off-peak hours or at the end of the week, might vary. Campers should ensure they have clear instructions for check-in and check-out procedures upon arrival.
Overall Impression: A Mixed Perspective: Based on the available reviews, Foxfire Campground offers several appealing features, including spacious campsites, direct access to the beautiful and peaceful Fox Lake, and the availability of boat rentals and a sandy swimming area. These aspects make it a potentially attractive "camping near me" option for families and individuals looking to enjoy lake activities and a comfortable campsite. However, prospective campers should be aware of potential drawbacks, such as the possibility of obstructed views and a lack of privacy on certain lakeside sites, as well as the importance of confirming office hours and procedures. It is always recommended to contact the campground directly with specific inquiries about site details and availability to ensure it meets your individual camping needs and preferences.

Foxfire Campground Reviews
We love Foxfire Campground! Plenty of space in the sites for a camper. We have a very large tent and use an easy up over the picnic table and have plenty of extra room for parking our SUV. Each site has a fire ring and a picnic table. If you get a site down by the lake you will definitely not be disappointed with the view. It is one of the prettiest Lakes I've ever seen and it's a small lake so it's not busy and very peaceful. They have rowboats and paddle boards and kayaks for rent if you do not have your own and they have separate piers for fishing and swimming. The swimming area is very sandy and the sand goes far out and it's a lot of fun!
Aug 12, 2022 · Overdriver XWe stayed at a Lakeside site (98) and were so disappointed. The boat rental and boat storage for the seasonal folks were directly in front of our site. Saying this site has a lake view is a massive stretch. We had people walking in our campsite all weekend to get their boats. People were also walking through our site to get to the lake. For a north woods campground, you get absolutely no privacy. We also went into the office at check out on Sunday and the staff were gone. Someone rented the cabin and had no clue where to return the keys. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.
Aug 15, 2021 · Amanda KnokeFox fire is a great campground. Nice size spots, easy to get to, near a private lake for fishing, swimming, and kayaking. We always come back to this campground when we go north, very convenient near all the Northwoods experiences.
Aug 07, 2023 · Tami JonesWe stayed at the cabin- which seemed newly built and was perfect. could easily fit more than 4 people in there if you brought more air mattresses with. The swimming area and playground was disappointing. Theres 1 shower stall- which is very nice once inside, but the coin operation is outside of the stall, so if you run out of time you have to get dressed to put more money back in. There also is only a curtain, not a door, so it was pretty uncomfortable to shower/get dressed in there. Otherwise a very quiet campground- there was a TON of people there and we didn't hear anyone else. Would definitely come back to use the cabin.
Jul 13, 2020 · Kimberly De NoyerNice lakeside site. We have a 30ft travel trailer. We had site 93. It was close to the lake and shaded. But that's probably the only lake site wewould stay in. The others were pretty short.93 is plenty deep but we had to mess around to get the front low enough to be level. But, even with that we would stay in that site again.
