Defeated Creek Campground Reviews
This is a beautiful campground with large sites. We came from Memphis where there were severe storms and flooding. We’d never been to this campground before so we thought we’d look at the sites first before we reserved in case any sites were flooded. We are full time RVers and do this all the time. The camp host was not pleased that we didn’t have reservations before arriving. He gave us a list of open sites, but never mentioned that there’s no cell service in the campground. This was not helpful at all. I had to go several miles back to town to get cellphone service. We have been camp hosts and would never have treated guests so rudely.
Apr 05, 2025 · Mary Ann CorcoranWARNING to anyone who is interested in swimming in Cordell Hull Lake - there are dangerous undertows and vortexes that can suck you down and drown you without warning even in the “safe zone”. Please wear life vests if you plan on swimming, but please just simply DON’T go swimming! I lost a teenage brother who drowned in the designated swimming area. He was strong and knew how to swim, but was pulled under and drowned. They found his body buried beneath 10 inches of sand in the swimming area. The lake is a very dangerous place and I wouldn’t advise anyone swimming in it unless they’re prepared for possible tragedy. There are no warning signs besides the fact there is no lifeguard. Please heed this warning! I don’t want you to have to experience the pain my family and I still carry from losing our loved one. Just google “drownings at Defeated Creek State Park.”
Feb 13, 2025 · Joy ClerVery big camp ground. Pretty, and nice but not very tent friendly, more suited for rv's. Family friendly as well. Should have a large area designed for tents spaced out for some peace and quiet. The lots are small and packed in tight...
Nov 03, 2024 · Jenna JoynerBeautiful campground with spacious sites. Perfect campground for families with swimming, boating and hiking. Great staff and just an amazing experience. Lots of deer around the playground area. We stayed in our 40' Class A with 2 dogs. Our site did not have sewer, but many sites did. Dump station is easy to get to on way out. Looking forward to returning in the fall.
Aug 27, 2024 · Donna BumeterLove this place! It’s kept very neat and mown and staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Bathrooms are old but clean and the camping area is unbelievable! We’ve traveled the U.S. in our camper and this is one of the best we’ve come across! The only complaint we have is every time we stay the barking dogs are a real nuisance! They never take a breath! It should not be allowed in such a peaceful environment.
