Devils Fork State Park Campground, situated at 498 Turkey Ridge Rd #400, Salem, SC 29676, USA, offers a fantastic opportunity to camp along the shores of the pristine Lake Jocassee. You can reach them at (864) 944-2639 or +1 864-944-2639 for reservations and inquiries.
Recent customer reviews paint a picture of a campground with significant appeal, particularly due to its stunning location. One first-time camper enthusiastically stated, "Loved the lake and the campsite. Most of the campsites have a guaranteed lake view. Love the views and the campsite is pretty nice." This highlights a major draw for local users searching for "camping near me" with scenic beauty as a priority: the promise of waking up to and enjoying picturesque views of Lake Jocassee.
Another camper who stopped at Devils Fork State Park Campground for a few relaxing days on their way home praised the fall colors as "so beautiful." They also found their site, number 25, to be "level and long enough for both our trailer and truck (50')." This suggests that the campground can accommodate larger RVs, which is a significant feature for local RV owners seeking "camping near me." They also noted that they "had plenty of space and didn't feel crowded in," although they did mention that it might feel more crowded during peak season.
However, both reviews also pointed out some considerations for potential campers. The first-time camper mentioned a specific challenge for tent campers: "for tent campsites you will have to carry stuff to the campsite and the walk way from the parking is short but steep and not so smooth." This is crucial information for local tent campers searching for "camping near me," indicating that while the distance from parking to the tent sites might be short, the terrain could be challenging for transporting gear. It's advisable to pack accordingly and be prepared for a somewhat strenuous short walk.
The RV camper noted that "the interior roads are a bit tight and rough." While their specific site was accessible, this suggests that navigating the campground with a larger vehicle might require careful maneuvering. This is valuable information for local RVers planning a visit as part of their "camping near me" search.
Additionally, the RV camper mentioned a "step down to the gravel picnic table, fire pit area" at their site. While not a major issue, this detail provides insight into the layout of some campsites and is something to be aware of for accessibility.
Considering these reviews, Devils Fork State Park Campground offers a compelling experience for local users seeking "camping near me," primarily due to its stunning lake views and access to Lake Jocassee. However, tent campers should be prepared for a potentially challenging short walk to their sites, and RVers should be aware of potentially tight and rough interior roads.

Devils Fork State Park Campground Reviews
This is our first time camping here. Loved the lake and the campsite. Most of the campsites have a guaranteed lake view. Love the views and the campsite is pretty nice.Only issue we had and have seen others have as well was, for tent campsites you will have to carry stuff to the campsite and the walk way from the parking is short but steep and not so smooth.
Apr 22, 2025 · Nikhitha kolliWe stopped here for a few days to relax on our way home from TN. The interior road are a bit tight and rough but our site 25 was level and long enough for both our trailer and truck (50'). The fall is so beautiful with all the color. There is a step down to the gravel picnic table, fire pit area. We had plenty of space and didn't feel crowded in but I'm sure during prime time it can feel that way.
Dec 09, 2023 · Jim KawagoyeWe had a tent site and were right by the water. Bathroom was clean, shower was good. The visitor center has free water, and there is an ice machine. There are 2 gas stations within 10 minutes. Every tent site has a grill and large pad. The lake is amazing, clean, and beautiful. Would definitely go again.
Sep 09, 2024 · RoachGorgeous mountain campground with Lake Jocassee as the main attraction (one of the cleanest lakes around). Nice wooded, shaded lots with firepits (grill rack attached) electric & water hookups & level areas for tents & RVs. Beach is VERY busy on summer weekends, but there's a nice drop-in spot for kayaks and nice boat launches as well. We'll be returning next year!
Jul 22, 2022 · Shannon OhFantastic location for outdoor exploring. We took our boat and spent the day on Lake Jocassee touring the 8+ waterfalls that are only accessible by the water, brilliant time. Spent the next day hiking various trails, Station Cove Falls amongst them. Would definitely recommend that, nice and short, not strenuous, very pretty. Tons to do within easy distance, hiking, kayaking etc. The campground was fine, not the nicest one I’ve been to but definitely not the worst. The bathhouses weren’t very clean and not in the best shape either. Either than that the campground was good. Pretty tight roads to have a 38’+ rig setup if that’s what your running. Camp sites are fine though, variety of different spots, we only had 30amp, not sure if other larger sites had 50’s.
