Reviewers highlight that the campground is small and features "lots of trees," creating a shady and serene atmosphere. The presence of a "cute mini lake for swimming" offers a unique amenity for campers looking to cool off in a more private setting than the larger nearby Lake Michigan. Speaking of which, the campground's location just "5 min away from Lake Michigan" provides easy access to the expansive Great Lake and its beaches. This combination of a smaller, more intimate setting with access to both a private lake and the vastness of Lake Michigan offers a diverse range of natural experiences for campers.

The campground provides "nice fireplaces" for campfires, and firewood is delivered "promptly," adding to the convenience and enjoyment of outdoor evenings. The availability of "picnic tables" at most sites offers a dedicated space for outdoor dining and gathering. The positive feedback from multiple reviewers suggests that the campground prioritizes cleanliness and the provision of essential amenities.
The features of Dune Lake Campground cater to those seeking a relaxed and nature-oriented camping experience. The small size of the campground contributes to its quiet and intimate atmosphere. The abundance of trees not only provides shade but also creates a more secluded and natural feel for the campsites. The private "mini lake for swimming" is a standout feature, offering a warmer and potentially less crowded alternative to the nearby Lake Michigan beaches. The spacious campsites, particularly the water and electric sites, can comfortably accommodate different types of camping setups. The presence of fireplaces encourages the traditional camping experience of gathering around a fire. The ample trees also provide opportunities for setting up hammocks and clotheslines, allowing campers to further enjoy and utilize their individual sites. The campground's dog-friendly policy, mentioned by one reviewer (though in a separate review for a different campground, so it's noted with caution), would be an attractive feature for those who like to travel with their pets. The strong positive sentiment, with reviewers expressing their intention to return and recommend the campground to others, underscores its appealing features.

Dune Lake Campground Reviews
Happy with our stay and will definitely come back again in the near future. However, the shower drainage system could use some improvement. Overall, very satisfied with this campground. Love that it is small, has lots of trees, has a cute mini lake for swimming, also just 5min away from LakeMichigan, and most of all..the place is quiet. A nice place to relax and get away from the hustle bustle of big city living.
Aug 06, 2024 · Irene SaponI spent 5 days 4 nights, spacious campsites, completely recoment the water and electric sites. Bathrooms stay clean and showers have plenty of hot water. Nice fireplaces, prompt delivery of firewood, most sites had picnic tables and plenty of trees for hammocks and clothes lines and the works. nice little pond that was warmer than the beaches nearby, all in all my family and I had a great time there and would recommend everyone to go. Really thinking about making it a yearly thing, love this place.
Jul 01, 2024 · Jose LopezWe loved this campground! It was close to a bunch of beaches along lake Michigan and downtown areas, but it also had its own small lake that the kids swam in and had a paddle boat that they enjoyed! It was very well taken care of and bathrooms were clean. The owners were so nice and friendly! We will definitely be back!
Jul 24, 2024 · Jessica VargasWe have camped here for years. Nice quiet area, clean restrooms and owners are lovely people always so nice.
Apr 02, 2025 · Rhonda ShinaultVery nice, safe, small campground. Not overcrowded. Quiet neighbors. We liked mini golf, dunes, small lake. Clean bathrooms but showers could be updated. Easy check in and check out. Love the gate.Close to Michigan lake but a little too close to the highway.
